Investigations on Asclepius

Martin left the conference room, leaving the members of group one to continue with their investigation. Once he left, a slight silence occurred before someone finally broke it.

"So… when do you think this'll happen again?" Yuki asked, containing his own emotions in the process.

He wasn't pissed at the fact that there happened to be a serial killer still evading the law, but the simple fact that he couldn't do anything about it.

This was something that he himself looked forward to doing himself with his father's killer, but yet he couldn't help but feel useless in this situation, like a tool that just sat within a toolbox.

He wanted to do more, but he really didn't know how.

"Why would you say that?!" Olivia shouted, easily becoming infuriated by Yuki's question.

"I'm sorry but we have nothing that shows us who did this… and the only new thing we got was a victim and a pendant that symbolizes the god of healing... this isn't enough to find the guy... if we want to stop this guy, we have to push ourselves to do more than this!" Yuki shouted, finally losing his cool that he couldn't keep locked within the chest for a few minutes.

"He has a point…" Alex softly added, not specifically caring at the fact that a new victim showed but just agreeing with the obvious.

"Maybe I could find out who it is searching through Aiko's last week of life…" Vivian added, in a very monotone projection.

"Yeah, and we still need to do research on Asclepius too. We can probably check the local library for the books we need on him and maybe books that were taken out that have anything to do with Asclepius as well, there could possibly be a clue there." Kaiso added, somewhat surprising some within group one at how much more vocal he's been the past few days, as if he has already identified the problem within.

"But aren't these clues more than enough?" Olivia asked.

"It's a lot more than the first victim but… this guy is going to keep killing innocent people until he's caught... how long will that take… someone just lost their mother... their wife... and we can't even promise that family that we'll find them justice…" Yuki said, showing much more emotion than what he usually does, most likely because this investigation felt personal to Yuki.

"Well isn't it best if we just do what we can with what we have rather than beating ourselves up on what we can't control?" Olivia replied.

"I guess you're right… but this still pisses me off—" Yuki clenches his fist in anger as he paused, then continued, "—people like this piss me off the most… people who think they can take away an innocent person's life like this… this, this is what I joined this program for… to stop criminals like this—" Yuki then took a deep pause withholding the gates from fully bursting, then finished "—let's go, Kaso." insisting that the both of them head off to the library.

Kaso didn't question Yuki and immediately departed with him, how could one reject someone who just poured their heart out like that?

The two eventually made it to the closest library to the motel, it is the most famous library in Kashitama and the size was grand. It looked similar to a small sports stadium or a stadium made for entertainment events.

Arches bent over the entrance and the doors were glass that blended in well with the rest that engulfed the face of this beautiful library.

The inside was nothing less than what appeared to them prior, the ceilings had beautiful fluorescent like chandeliers that echoed the very elegant feel throughout the building.

The floors were similar to the flooring within the IJA headquarters, but with a touch of honey rather than a bureaucratic marble.

The two approached a librarian sitting behind a desk that was assumed to be a desk made for a directory of the library.

"Um… ma'am…" Kaso said under his breath.

The woman doesn't hear him or ignores him completely, they couldn't really tell the difference.

Yuki acts much more brash compared to Kaso by slamming a tin bell placed on the desk, and asking a more direct question, "Ma'am, where is the religion section?"

The woman behind the counter gives Yuki a long stare as if she already placed him on the shit list before even properly meeting him, then bluntly said, "Second floor."

Yuki and Kaso didn't waste much time heading directly to the second floor of the illustrious library that had much more than two floors.

"Wow, this place is huge… who uses all these books anyway?" Yuki said.

"Um... People love books and I guess it's better to have the physical copy rather than digital." Kaso replied.

"Oh... I wouldn't really know, I don't read like that." Yuki responded, stating the obvious after his initial comment on the library.

They approach the desk on the second floor of the library, similar to the one within the lobby, if that's what you would call it.

"We're looking for Religious books, we were told it's on this floor." Kaso asked, this time being more vocal than before.

"Yeah, more specifically something on some guy named Asclepius." Yuki added.

"Oh, Asclepius? You kids will find that man in the A section over there." the man behind the desk responded.

The man wore a knitted tan sweater with dark-colored pants and dress shoes, a very stereotypical librarian, especially with a pair of glasses and neatly done hair.

He directed them to the section he advised them to locate, and even specifically showed them all the books, on Asclepius.

It didn't take long for that row to look like a mess with Yuki and Kaso on the ground scattering through all the books that correlated with the pendant at the crime scene.

"So what's with this Asclepius guy, was he a bad guy?" Yuki asked as he skimmed through books on the ground.

"Quite the contrary, he was the god of medicine and healing, so he helped out quite a bit, he even participated in the hunt for the wild boar that was ravishing Kalydon." The librarian replied.

"Yeah, he's right. I didn't know about the boar of Kalydon though." Kaso added.

"Oh, well, I hope you two find what you're looking for." the librarian said as he turned to head back to the desk he was working his shift at.

"Wait, hold on. Is there any more you can tell us?" Yuki asked, halting the librarian in his tracks.

The man turned back around, poorly hiding his irritation in the process and smiled through it as he said "I… I have other things to do… my apologies…" then stormed off, not fully running, but walking fast enough to question the reason for his speedy strut.

"What was that all about?" Yuki thought.

In a matter of seconds, the librarian found himself within the bathroom, abandoning his shift without much care in the process.

He seemed to be built up with rage, but he hid it much better than how his poor attempt was earlier in front of Yuki.

"Why would some kids show interest within Asclepius… they don't even teach about him in major religious courses, could this be a coincidence... Could they be trying to figure out what my plans are…" the librarian thought as he stared at his reflection in the mirror above the sink.

"What should I do... What should I do... Brother... you would know what to do in this situation..." the librarian thought.

"So, did you find what you were looking for?" the librarian asked.

"Yeah, I think we did…" Kaso replied.

The librarian's plans shouldn't be halted by some children, he decided to end the possibility of that right now, don't let this last longer than it should.

He pulled out a kitchen knife from his back and began to repeatedly stab Kaso within the back, once he started, he didn't really know when to stop until his face was completely covered in batter.

Blood was certainly covering the librarian, as well as the entire row of books that sat behind Kaso's back.

Yuki is shocked and devastated, he couldn't move, he didn't know what to do, he shook there in a cold sweat contemplating how, if any way, he could get out of the row where he found himself cornered by the librarian.

He just shivered in fear, as if he was stranded on the tallest mountain.

"You know I can't let you two snoop around like this… I'll have to dispose of you two…"

"What…" Yuki stuttered through utter terror from the beast that cornered him.
