"Look at this mess!" Ned said sighing, Tilting his head, "You're telling me she just...went crazy? just like that?" Jasper asked.
"Yeah, I was wondering when's the next time Socorro gonna pull something new, it's been awfully quiet since her little play with Fernando where she almost sacrificed her hands.
It makes me feel sad, she's a very capable woman but so far, she made an idiot out of herself...outside of Derora, she's really nothing." Ned said.
"Hey That's harsh! can you blame her if she doesn't feel like she belongs here?" Jasper replied, "You feel the same sometimes, don't you?" he added.
"True enough... Anyways, back to the subject.
There's something that she said, makes me believe that Coco knows more than any of us especially about Garrick, and she kept it hidden until it weighted so much on her, it drove her crazy." Ned explained,
"Is there a way to bring her back to normal? I mean I kinda like her, sure she's a bit problematic but with her abilities, it would be a waste of time if she actually went bonkers." Jasper said chuckling.
Raising an eyebrow at his son,"Eh?... 'Bonkers'? Wow You're saying some British words now huh!...You're hanging out a lot with Lucius, aren't you!" Ned said smirking.
"Took me 60 years to find my bestie, so I'm definitely hanging out with Lu!
He's actually a lot more fun to be around than Aroon, I'm surprised I'm even saying that!" Jasper replied smiling.
"Then why are you here at the hospital?! why aren't you at the birthday party with your bestfriend? considering the time, it probably didn't end yet! you should go and be there at least for Lu." Ned said.
"I didn't feel like going there...it's awkward after everything that happened!
Plus, I had an annoying visitor that I'm going to tell you about later, Once we are in a More private setting." Jasper replied.
Nodding, "Okay, Well to answer your previous question, there could be a way to bring Socorro back, I may have to use my powers again, but I don't feel like I should do it...feels pointless." Ned said.
"Then should we call her grandma? maybe this is just a State of shock and she'll pull right out of it." Jasper suggested.
"I don't think it's that easy, it's nothing definitive yet but I still think she did lost her mind...I'm keeping her here in the hospital until we find either a reason why she snapped, or a way to snap her back to reality.
And according to Nana, when it comes to Destined mates, if one of them did go crazy the other one won't feel them around anymore...I mean they could be alive and well but the other person won't be able to feel them like usual...Another loophole into the destined mates system I guess." Ned explained.
"WOW?! isn't the state Faunus is in also qualifies as going crazy?" Jasper asked.
"If you're bothered by him being away from you, that means you can still feel him and I don't think that qualifies, no.
I actually read something interesting somewhere, that driving your mate to insanity, is one of the ways that some people attempted to get rid of their destined mate throughout history.
By driving them insane, they can break the mental link and free themselves from their mate, without killing them.
It could be that Socorro was trying to do that to Matilda at the beginning, explaining why she was acting like a bitch towards her and even risked her hands...but it's even crazy to think that Matilda's 'not-so-serious' and happygolucky personality might've saved her ass.
Because if I got treated the same way she did, I would've definitely gone crazy and murder someone by now." Ned explained.
"So there's a way to escape having a mate after all?" Jasper asked.
Clicking his tongue, "Not really, Whomever designed the destined mate system, was a sore loser...if you drove your mate on purpose to lose their mind, you'll eventually suffer the same fate." Ned replied.
"Aish?! seriously what a sore loser, btw 'eventually' means in the long run?"
"Possibly...we can say that Matilda is safe, I mean there's no way she was responsible for this."
"I agree with you, I don't think Matilda did this, but she might be going crazy herself nonetheless! Why did you let her take Garrick anyways?" Jasper asked.
"I didn't have much of choice, Coco's last words indicated that she blames everything that happened on Garrick, so I'll just say Matilda has a score to settle." Ned responded.
"What a hassle...huh, I got a text." Jasper said while checking his phone, "The results of that test are ready!" he added.
"Finally! I forgot we even asked for that test to be done." Ned said in an impressed tone.
"I'm still shocked that you included me into your plans mom, but I'm also surprised how you easily forget about them!
I guess you included me just to remind you then, huh?" Jasper responded.
Chuckling, "I included you because I trust you more than your sister, with keeping your mouth shut.
And you're right Jasper, I do sometimes forget about my plans, but that's only because I have many." Ned said.
"Mom, the person we hired wants us to go get the results personally."
"Okay!...as a doctor, I feel ashamed I requested a magical medical test...my only comfort is that it's a 100% accurate test, a clear cut."
"You never told me mom, How the hell did you even find someone that can do you this test?" Jasper asked.
"You see son, Other people lie, steal and conspire to build their empires, but not me! I work really hard and I build everything myself.
And along the way, I made a lot of good friends, very talented friends that I helped and made connections with." Ned explained with a smile.
"You seem to know lots of people, how scared are they of you?" Jasper asked.
"Scared? I'm offended! it only takes a phone call nowadays and any of my friends, become eager to return the past favor to me.
I don't scare them, I genuinely help them! I mean, Why act like a thug?! when you can win them to your side as friend with simple kindness!" Ned said smirking.
Sniggering, "Tehehe, Fernando fucking messed-up! he should have just let you be a doctor in Derora, here you are unstoppable as always Mom." Jasper stated.
"I'm not really unstoppable! I had to meet your dad halfway through my fucking life...*mumbling* why does he has to be my mate."
"I thought you liked Garrick, mom."
"He's exactly my fucking type son! that's why it's scary, Life is never too generous unless! she's about to bite you in the ass."
"Don't be Ungrateful mom, I bet this kind of happy and healthy life that we have bores you, doesn't it?" Jasper asked, "You really are my son! you Know me too well." Ned said patting his shoulder.
"Let's go see the test dude." Jasper replied walking away, "Yeah, let me notify the hospital staff about something...ugh, I really need to find someone competent to replace Aroon for me!" Ned said a little frustrated.
...Meanwhile...
"There's got to be a reason why you brought me all the way here to the bookshop, Matilda.
I was sure you haven't set foot in this place since that day you came here for the letter...I'm surprised you even have the key!" Garrick questioned Matilda as soon she let him inside the shop.
Closing the door behind them, "How come, You're unable to regain your memories?" Matilda spoke-up.
The empty look in her face alarmed Garrick a bit, "Look, I really have no idea about it." He said.
"You're not human are you?" She asked.
"Matilda, what are you saying? of course I'm human!" he replied.
"YOU'RE NOT FUCKING HUMAN!" Matilda yelled so suddenly, Her face turning hot red with anger.
Startled, Garrick placed his hands Infront of him defensively, "Okay, now calm down Matilda." He said with a nervous smile.
"LISTEN YOU FUCK! We were raised in the same kind of orphanage you little dog! and that type of places is for supernatural kids only, so neither of us can be human!
I mean look at me bitch, look at you! my orange hair, your violet eyes! why the fuck do you believe that we're humans with these abnormal features?! BULLSHIT!" Matilda screamed again.
Although her words made sense, "What do you mean?! what if the orphanages were just too kind to pick some human kids and raise them?" Garrick said.
"Too kind?! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!" She roared at him.
"Can we at least sit down while having this conversation?" He begged.
But Matilda ignored him, "All around the country, in each state, there's an orphanage of that sort somewhere away from human sight, funded secretly by the strongest and most rich and influential supernatural families.
They collected and raised beast kids of all types, for when some rich family decides to adopt a trustworthy kid of theirs or any kind, they find one ready and available!
You've seen how kids were getting adopted left and right, some didn't even stay for a full year in the orphanage.
And you're fucking telling me, they kept you and me, out of kindness?!...they wouldn't waste their precious resources on humans YOU AIRHEAD." She said.
"Listen, all I know is that I'm human." Garrick replied.
"You have a thick skull, so let me simplify things for you Agent Delun." Matilda said, "They have a dorm for every specie, what dorm were you in Garrick?" She asked.
"Werewolves dorm...but that's just because staying there would be safer than staying with other types of kids." Garrick replied.
"I was also grouped with The werewolf kids, and being safe was merely an excuse...look at me, I've always been a big girl, no one there dared to bully or hurt me." Matilda said finally sitting down on a chair nearby.
Sitting as well, "Why are you doing all of this, you brought me here...we're talking about the orphanage and their system, what's your problem?" Garrick asked.
"As you know, Ned adopted me to get me out of that orphanage...but before I left, one of the Nuns who frequented the place, came during that day to say goodbye to me.
According to her, she said that I'm currently under a dark curse that can only be undone, by the same person who cursed me or someone from their bloodline...I'm not supposed to regain my past life memories either." Matilda explained.
"A nun...told you this?" Garrick questioned.
Nodding her head, "Yeah, she said this curse is blocking my memory and my true nature, and it's making me the human that I am...but recently when I read madame Shanice's letter, Something within me cracked...I felt like a chain was broken." Matilda said.
"Does Ned know about this? what does this has to do with me?" Garrick asked.
"He knows and we're both positive that you are under the same kind of curse as me." Matilda replied.
Surprised, "You guys said i have this pure aura around me? how can I be cursed?!" Garrick responded.
"It's possible to curse you when you are a little child." She replied.
"What made Ned believe I have the same curse as you do Matilda?"
"Fernando told him and then Ned told me.
Your ex said that As children, pure Aura people are vulnerable to attacks of dark magic, Fernando said that he feels like you are under many dark spells." Matilda explained, "Also as her mate, I've noticed Socorro would act strange when it comes to you." she added.
"Socorro seems to know something we don't." Garrick Said.
"Not just her." Matilda replied glaring at him.
