Chapter 61: Tribulation
"Kagami..."
Fugaku's gaze grew increasingly frigid.
"You wouldn't understand the difference between the three tomoe and the Mangekyō until you've experienced it yourself."
Slash!
An invisible blade tore through the air, slicing past Fugaku and severing dozens of massive trees behind him.
Boom...
"The next one won't be a warning," Kagami said flatly.
Fugaku's expression darkened as an ominous, frigid chakra began to emanate from him.
A monstrous, otherworldly roar echoed. Deep purple chakra materialized, enveloping his body.
Blood flowed from one of his eyes as black flames ignited in the void.
The flames of Amaterasu...
"The deity of destruction housed within the Mangekyō Sharingan," Fugaku declared. "This is Susano'o! The ultimate power of the Uchiha!"
"Come, Kagami Uchiha! Witness the full extent of my strength!"
Half-formed Susano'o stood amidst the black flames, its presence both divine and demonic.
Rather than aiming Amaterasu directly at Kagami, Fugaku had used it to reshape the battlefield, covering it in unquenchable flames.
"These flames will never extinguish..."
"No need for a lecture," Kagami interrupted, casually slashing through the encroaching flames.
"Smart of you not to aim it directly at me. At least you know that wouldn't work."
Fugaku stayed silent.
Amaterasu was a powerful technique capable of incinerating nearly anything, but locking onto a target required a fraction of a second.
Against an opponent like Kagami—whose reputation as the "Scarlet Eye" embodied the pinnacle of Sharingan mastery—that fraction was insurmountable.
Instead, Fugaku had chosen to mold the battlefield, using the flames to restrict Kagami's fearsome close-range combat.
Yet, even with the battlefield altered, a part of him knew…
It wouldn't be enough.
---
Kagami stepped forward, each stride exuding confidence.
Fugaku stood within the protection of his half-formed Susano'o, black flames roaring around him.
"You've mastered Susano'o, Fugaku, but that's all. Compared to him…" Kagami trailed off, shaking his head dismissively. "No. You don't even deserve to be compared."
His voice turned cold.
"Susano'o is the ultimate visual prowess of the Uchiha. But wielded by you? It's a disgrace."
Taking another step, Kagami shattered the silence.
Crack!
A brilliant red slash, laced with fiery energy, erupted from his hand, slicing through the black flames and cleaving Fugaku's Susano'o in half.
---
Fugaku's eyes widened in disbelief as the force of the attack left him exposed.
Though his body remained unharmed, his mind reeled from the overwhelming display of power.
Impossible… this is… beyond comprehension.
Kagami came to a stop mere inches away, his scarlet eyes void of emotion.
"Is that all? How disappointing."
---
"No… it's not over!"
Fugaku clenched his fists.
He would not allow himself to be humiliated.
"I carry the Mangekyō Sharingan! I won't lose!"
Boom!
Blood-red light surged as the world around them was consumed by a monochromatic hue.
---
Fugaku activated his trump card—Infernal Heaven's Abyss.
This unique Mangekyō ability did more than alter perception; it dragged opponents into a nightmarish illusion.
Within this realm, Fugaku could simulate possible futures, forcing his target to endure the emotional and psychological toll of countless tragedies.
The battlefield shifted to a desolate vision of the Uchiha district.
Masked ANBU swarmed the area, their blades drenched in blood as they slaughtered Uchiha clansmen.
In the distance, a titanic Nine-Tails rampaged, its roars shaking the heavens.
"This… this is the future!" Fugaku bellowed.
"No matter how we struggle, the Uchiha cannot prevail through rebellion!"
"Konoha would be left broken, but we would be annihilated!"
"Is this the future you seek, Kagami?"
---
Inside the illusion, Kagami observed the unfolding chaos.
The weight of the simulated carnage pressed down on his psyche, yet his expression remained indifferent.
"It's impressive," Kagami admitted, a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "But…"
"You got one thing wrong."
Kagami smirked, shaking his head in mock pity.
"You? Like Madara? Don't make me laugh."
"You don't even deserve to speak his name."
Fugaku's confidence faltered as Kagami stepped forward, his voice sharp and cutting.
"This isn't foresight, Fugaku. It's cowardice."
"Your vision of the future isn't a prediction… it's the delusion of a weak man."
Kagami raised a hand, clenching it into a fist.
"Your nightmare ends now."
---
The monochromatic world cracked and shattered.
Shatter!
Fugaku reeled back, blood spurting from his mouth as the illusion collapsed in on itself.
---
Fugaku fell to his knees, his body trembling from the strain of his technique backfiring.
His voice wavered, filled with despair.
"How…? Why…?"
"I am the one with the Mangekyō…"
Kagami placed a foot on Fugaku's throat, silencing him.
"I considered killing you."
"But that would be a mercy. You'd escape all of this."
Kagami reached down, his fingers closing around Fugaku's eyes.
A moment later, he stood, two bloodied orbs in his grasp.
"You're unworthy of these eyes."
---
Turning to Fugaku's limp form, Kagami leaned in close, his voice barely a whisper.
"I won't give you the honor of death."
"Instead, I'll leave you to endure the misery of watching what I'll do next."
"I'm not granting you death… but suffering."
Fugaku's consciousness faded, his body collapsing to the ground.
---
Moments later, two figures appeared—a pair of Uchiha elite handpicked by Kagami: Genka and Kumoma.
Kagami handed the bloodied eyes to Genka.
"Take Fugaku back to the compound. Have these delivered to Jinhi for safekeeping."
Turning to Kumoma, Kagami issued his next order.
"Inform the clan. From this day forward, I am the Uchiha clan head."
