The air was thick with tension as the war between Iwagakure and Kumogakure raged on. For days, the battlefield had been a storm of jutsu, steel, and blood. Kumogakure's forces, led by the indomitable Third Raikage, clashed with the elite shinobi of Iwagakure, led by their Tsuchikage, Onoki. Both sides fought fiercely, knowing that the outcome of this battle could tip the scales in their respective village's favor.
Explosions echoed across the battlefield as earth-style jutsu from Iwagakure's forces collided with the lightning-based techniques of Kumogakure. Lightning crackled, earth crumbled, and the ground trembled under the weight of such immense power. The battlefield had become a war-torn wasteland, with massive craters and shattered stone pillars marking the destruction brought by both armies.
Amid the chaos, the Third Raikage stood tall, his body enveloped in the intense glow of his Lightning Chakra Mode. His fists clenched, every muscle in his massive frame rippling with power as he tore through Iwagakure shinobi with ease. No one could stop him. No one dared to challenge him.
Above the battlefield, Onoki hovered, watching the Raikage with calculating eyes. His heart was heavy with grief, the pain of losing his eldest son, Kintsuchi, still raw. The Third Raikage had been responsible for Kintsuchi's death, and now, Onoki stood on the battlefield, determined to make the Raikage pay. But he knew that brute force alone would not defeat him. The Raikage was a man who had built his reputation on overwhelming power. Onoki needed to outthink him, to strike with precision.
But first, he had to survive.
---
Onoki floated higher, keeping a keen eye on the Raikage. Below, his Iwagakure forces were holding their ground, but barely. Kumogakure's lightning techniques were wreaking havoc on their earth-style defenses. Massive stone walls crumbled under the relentless barrage of Raiton techniques, and every time a counterattack was launched, the Raikage would plow through it, his lightning-clad body moving faster than any shinobi could react.
The Tsuchikage's face twisted in frustration as he watched his shinobi fall one by one. He had to act soon, or Kumogakure's forces would overrun them. His fingers twitched as he prepared to release his strongest jutsu. There was no more time for hesitation.
With a sharp breath, Onoki formed the hand seals for his Dust Release technique. A glowing cube of energy formed in front of him, expanding rapidly as he focused his chakra into it. This was his most powerful jutsu, capable of disintegrating anything it touched. He had used it in the past to crush powerful enemies, and now he aimed it directly at the Raikage.
"Let's see how you handle this," Onoki muttered, sending the Dust Release cube hurtling toward the Raikage at incredible speed.
The Raikage didn't move. Instead, his body surged with an even greater intensity of lightning. His muscles tensed, and with a roar that shook the battlefield, he met the Dust Release head-on. The cube slammed into his body, but instead of disintegrating him, it shattered against the Raikage's impenetrable Lightning Chakra Mode. The energy dissipated into the air, leaving the Raikage completely unharmed.
Onoki's eyes widened in disbelief. "Impossible…"
The Raikage's deep voice echoed across the battlefield. "Your tricks won't work on me, Tsuchikage."
Before Onoki could react, the Raikage was gone, moving with such speed that he left only a blur of lightning in his wake. In the next instant, the Raikage appeared directly in front of Onoki, his fist raised to strike.
---
Onoki barely managed to float higher, avoiding the Raikage's crushing blow by mere inches. The Raikage's fist crashed into the ground where Onoki had been hovering, creating a massive crater. Dust and debris flew into the air, obscuring the battlefield as the Raikage rose from the impact.
"You won't escape me, Onoki," the Raikage growled, his voice a low rumble of thunder.
The Tsuchikage's heart pounded in his chest as he floated out of range. He knew he couldn't fight the Raikage up close. The man's strength was beyond anything he had ever faced. But he had to try. His village, his shinobi, and his honor depended on it.
Onoki quickly formed more hand seals, sending a barrage of earth-style techniques toward the Raikage. Massive stone pillars shot out of the ground, crashing down toward the lightning-clad figure. But the Raikage plowed through them without slowing down, his fists smashing through the stone like it was nothing.
The Raikage closed the distance in an instant, his massive fist swinging toward Onoki once again. This time, Onoki couldn't dodge. The Raikage's punch connected, sending Onoki flying across the battlefield. He crashed into the ground with a sickening thud, his body bouncing across the dirt before coming to a stop.
The pain was excruciating, but Onoki forced himself to stand. He couldn't let it end like this. Not when he was so close to avenging his son. With a grunt, he floated back into the air, his hands moving to form more seals. This time, he needed something stronger. Something that would slow the Raikage down.
But before Onoki could unleash another jutsu, the Raikage was on him again, moving faster than the Tsuchikage could follow. With a mighty roar, the Raikage's leg swung in a powerful arc, aiming for Onoki's hips. The kick connected with a bone-crunching impact.
Onoki let out a gasp of pain as the force of the blow sent him hurtling through the air. His vision blurred as he crashed into the ground once more, his body refusing to obey his commands. He tried to stand, but his legs gave out beneath him. His hips were shattered. He couldn't run. He couldn't walk.
The Raikage landed a few feet away, his eyes locked on Onoki's broken form. His lightning aura crackled around him as he approached the fallen Tsuchikage.
---
Onoki lay on the ground, gasping for breath, his body broken and beaten. He couldn't move. The Raikage's kick had left him crippled, unable to continue the fight. Despite the pain coursing through his body, Onoki refused to let go of his pride. He had come here to avenge his son, but now he lay at the mercy of his enemy.
The Raikage towered over him, his face grim but resolute. "It's over, Tsuchikage."
Onoki clenched his fists, rage and frustration boiling inside him. He had been defeated—utterly and completely. But even in his defeat, his mind raced, searching for a way out. He couldn't let the Raikage finish him. His village needed him. His remaining son, Kitsuchi, needed him.
Just as the Raikage prepared to deliver the final blow, a voice called out from behind Onoki.
"Tsuchikage-sama!" Kitsuchi's voice rang through the battlefield.
The Raikage's eyes flicked to the side as Kitsuchi, Onoki's second son, arrived on the battlefield with a squad of Iwagakure's elite jonin. Their faces were set in determination as they rushed toward their fallen leader.
Kitsuchi moved quickly, raising an enormous stone wall between his father and the Raikage to give them a moment of reprieve. "Father, we need to retreat! You're too injured to continue!"
Onoki gritted his teeth, his pride warring with the pain in his body. He wanted to continue. He wanted to defeat the Raikage, to avenge Kintsuchi. But he knew Kitsuchi was right. He couldn't fight any longer. His body wouldn't allow it.
"Retreat…" Onoki muttered, his voice hoarse with pain. "We need to retreat."
Kitsuchi gave the order, and Iwagakure's forces quickly moved to cover their retreat. As they began to pull back, the Raikage watched them go, his body still crackling with lightning, but he didn't pursue. His victory over Onoki was clear, and chasing after them would only lead to unnecessary losses on both sides.
Onoki, supported by Kitsuchi, was carried away from the battlefield as his forces began their retreat. His defeat at the hands of the Raikage weighed heavily on him, but he knew the war wasn't over yet. The loss of his eldest son, Kintsuchi, and now his own failure, would not be in vain.
---
The battlefield fell silent as the last of Iwagakure's forces disappeared into the distance. The Third Raikage stood amidst the devastation, his eyes scanning the wasteland of shattered stone and scorched earth. His victory had come at a cost. Kumogakure had lost many shinobi in the battle, far more than Iwagakure, but they had driven the enemy back.
For now, the war had paused, but the Raikage knew that this is not the end of war.
