In the Uchihas' residence in the Fujiwara Mining Village, a flash of light appeared, revealing a figure clad in Uchiha robes.
Uchiha Genzo exhaled a heavy breath and touched his chest, where a fresh wound was slowly bleeding. The injury wasn't serious, just a minor wound, but it stung intensely at the slightest touch.
Groaning in pain, he muttered to himself, "After days of hunting the geese, I never expected to be pecked in the eye today. When did the Hyuga clan have a girl like this? Never heard of her in the original story."
After thinking for a moment and getting nowhere, he added, "It's definitely the system's fault. If it weren't for that damn system triggering some task to expose the mastermind behind it all, I never would have foolishly walked into this trap. Damn ambushes—go to hell!"
"Wait… the system...?"
A sudden realization hit Genzo. He remembered that the system hadn't issued a second task. Having escaped the encirclement using the Flying Thunder God technique, he thought the task should have been completed. But there was no reward for completing the mission.
At the same time, he sharply noticed that the whole room was eerily silent. It was far too quiet, almost unnatural. Given that he had suddenly appeared here, the Uchiha clan should have noticed by now. They couldn't possibly be out at this hour, unless...
His eyes widened, and his Sharingan spun once more.
A flash of cold light, and Genzo's body was split in two at the waist.
"Target, Uchiha Genzo, successful kill!" A voice echoed from behind. Even without turning around, Genzo could picture the emotionless face of the person saying those words, calm and detached.
"Dammit, Hyuga Tamaki! Setting up a chain of traps like this, I swear, one day I'll hang you up and beat you!" Genzo's Sharingan began to spin wildly, and his already severed body suddenly transformed into a swarm of crows, fluttering and flying out.
"What's going on?"
Hinata Kazama, who had been standing guard, was stunned by the strange phenomenon unfolding before him. It was the first time he had encountered such a bizarre situation.
"Genjutsu from the Sharingan? But I've been careful, never once making eye contact with his Sharingan..."
The crows cawed as they flew out of the window, gathering around the tree branches in the distance to reform Genzo's body.
"Heh, Itachi's crow clone technique is truly a lifesaver. Although it's just a C-ranked ninjutsu, its practicality is well above A-ranked!" Genzo completed a hand sign swiftly, his Sharingan glowing brightly in the night.
"Fire Style: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet!"
A fire dragon, solid and tangible, shot out, targeting the building below. Genzo had already set up his Flying Thunder God markers around the area; this was his domain now. By destroying the building where his enemy was hiding, it would be like trapping a bug in a spider's web—slowly encircling them until they died.
With a loud explosion, the building shattered into pieces. A shadow leapt into the air and landed on the grass below. The user of the Byakugan stared seriously at the figure in the tree, beginning to understand why two elite jounin from their clan couldn't capture this person—these previously unseen techniques were truly extraordinary.
"Whoa, you're fast at dodging!" Genzo taunted, his voice dripping with mockery. "To be honest, your clan's girl isn't bad. This chain of traps was a bit unexpected, but it's no big deal. The plan was solid, but she overlooked something!"
"Overlooked what?" Hinata Kazama held his blade tightly, using his Byakugan to scan Genzo's surroundings, looking for the right opportunity to strike.
"She shouldn't have sent just one elite jounin to lay an ambush here. If you were an elite jounin, I wouldn't waste time talking like this. Let me show you the true power of the Flying Thunder God technique. Damn it, the difference in our levels is too much, fighting you is so frustrating."
Before he finished speaking, three kunai shot in different directions toward Kazama.
He swung his blade to block two of them. Using his Byakugan, he sidestepped the third one, sneering, "Big talk... Huh?"
In a flash of light, Genzo suddenly appeared at Kazama's side, grabbing one of the kunai and stabbing it toward Kazama's chest. Kazama quickly countered with his sword, but Genzo vanished once more.
"Behind me?" Kazama caught a glimpse of Genzo, quickly turning to retaliate, but Genzo reappeared at his left side.
"It's that strange space ninjutsu, and these kunai?" Kazama thought. Although it seemed like one person, he was being attacked from three directions at once. Kazama, feeling uncomfortable, barely managed to dodge again.
Seeing the three kunai swirling around him, Kazama gritted his teeth and swung his blade in a circular motion to knock them away.
"Impossible?" He was shocked. The three kunai didn't get knocked away and continued to hover around him. Genzo's relentless attacks had already left a few minor wounds on him.
"Is this... chakra threads?"
Under the moonlight, Kazama finally noticed that each of the kunai had a nearly invisible chakra thread attached to them, wrapping around him. No wonder he couldn't shake them off.
"Figured it out?" Genzo smirked, a cruel smile on his face. After realizing the Flying Thunder God's three-dimensional technique, he knew he couldn't leave any markings on his opponent. So, he came up with this idea—since he couldn't leave markings, why not let the kunai directly bind to the opponent?
A flash of light continued to circle Kazama, and the attacks rained down like a storm. All Kazama could do was block continuously, unable even to graze the edges of Genzo's clothes. He couldn't find the time to cut the chakra threads. For the first time, Kazama realized just how absurd a jutsu could be, where a special jounin was being completely dominated by another jounin, and if this word got out, all the ninja from the Warring States period would laugh, calling it a joke!
"Rebirth of the Heavenly Spin!" Kazama finally couldn't take it anymore. He gathered chakra in his palms and began spinning them rapidly. If this continued, he wouldn't last much longer.
A chakra shield appeared instantly, and the chakra threads attached to the kunai were severed. Kazama had avoided using the Rebirth of the Heavenly Spin at first because it took a moment to recharge afterward, and based on his opponent's movements, he didn't think Genzo would give him that chance.
A flash of light, and Genzo appeared next to a kunai. His Sharingan turned slightly, calculating the remaining time on Kazama's technique. He had just fought two elite jounin and was filled with frustration, ready to vent his anger on this person.
"This technique is too strange, it can't hurt him. Once his technique finishes, I'll use the Body Flicker to escape!" Kazama thought. He was a seasoned jounin, not the type to stubbornly cling to a losing battle. It wasn't shameful to lose to an opponent you couldn't beat; staying in the fight when you knew you couldn't win was foolish. Those kinds of people didn't make it past the chunin exams.
"Now!"
At the moment his Rebirth of the Heavenly Spin finished, Kazama saw a kunai flying toward him, and without dodging, he forced himself to recharge his chakra.
Genzo appeared suddenly, grabbing the kunai and stabbing it into his heart.
Shick…
The kunai sank three inches deep into Kazama's chest. As he activated the Body Flicker Technique, he quickly turned into a shadow, rushing toward the distance.
"Too slow!" Genzo's Sharingan spun, and with a cold laugh, his figure vanished and reappeared in front of Kazama, blocking his escape.
Kazama tried another direction but was cut off again. After several failed attempts, he gritted his teeth and threw two smoke bombs. Thick white fog rose, and using the Body Flicker, he tried to escape into the distance.
"Fire Style: Great Fire Annihilation!"
A massive fire attack engulfed the path Kazama intended to flee along, and no technique was better suited to sealing off an escape than this large A-rank ninjutsu.
"Goodbye, my Hyuga friend. I'll remember your heartfelt gesture of sending me your head. Rasengan!" A massive force of spinning energy tore through Genzo's back, his insides shredded.
"How... did you catch up... without the kunai?" Kazama's final words were barely audible.
His Byakugan caught a glimpse of the kunai wrapped around him, connected to chakra threads.
"When...?" Kazama spewed a mouthful of blood, mixed with his insides. These were his final thoughts before closing his eyes.
Ding! Mission to escape the Hyuga clan's encirclement completed. Reward: 3000 points!
Ding! Killed an elite Hyuga jounin. Reward: 5000 points!
