Classes Start

Artorias Pov:

Waking up to the sunlight blinding my face. I tiredly fall onto my feet, heading straight towards the bathroom. A few minutes later I walked out and glanced at my father's watch, which read, 8:23 A.M. Classes start at 9 A.M. so I had a few minutes to go to the great hall and eat. Picking up a book on charms before leaving. I was currently studying the Disillusionment Charm, it was a fifth-year spell, however, I had already finished understanding all the third-year charms to a certain level. It only took me a week to master the 1st and 2nd-year spells. It seems I was a genius in charms, I could easily understand their logic.

Learning charms came naturally to me. It was like I was understanding knowledge meant for kids so it was immensely easy to figure out. The only thing that was a little tricky for me in charms was understanding magical theory. I struggled a little with it because the source of my magic was different from what the book implied. I was able to channel it through that blue energy within me, which I later figured out was from the stars.

My magic is different upon casting spells, as it would usually take the form of glintstone or just have glintstone dust as a trail. So all my spells would just be crystal/darkish blue in color, for example, my disarming charm, Expelliarmus was like the sorcery Glintstone Cometshard in Elden Ring. Yes, the glintstone magic from Elden Ring, when I first figured that out, it made me second guess what universe I was in making me think I was in Elden Ring. However, my sister cleared that up, by explaining it was the same with her, her Expelliarmus was like Glintstone Icecrag, but we were certainly in Harry Potter.

Anyway, I've come to the conclusion from my research, that the Harry Potter worlds magic was less potent or you could say powerful when I compared it to my Glintstone Magic. Back to reality, I was walking outside the common room and was spotted by Ben, he also joined me to head to the great hall. As he walked by my side I ask, "so is it really that boring with the other Ravenclaw house members, that you have to bother me?" He gives me a weird look and answers, "sorry, it's not just that but I'm also interested in making friends with you." I raise my eyebrows at that and say "well I thought we were already friends at sight, from the way you talked to me on the train."

He laughs sheepishly, then gives a hopeful look asking, "so does that mean we're friends?" I give him an amused look and answer "I don't know are we?" As he thinks about my words, I just smirk at him and say "we're friends mate, I was just pulling your leg." He smiles in relief and a few seconds later we are in the great hall taking a seat at our house table. I received a few looks of curiosity and Ben stares at me saying "you know our whole house talked about you yesterday, and kept asking me about you" I give him an uninterested look and reply "I see…" He continues talking "what? You don't want to know what they said about you?" I shake my head at his words then said, "not interested." Deciding to just have the classic eggs and bacon for breakfast. I eat and spend the rest of my time reading about the Disillusionment Charm. At one point a few people tried to ask me questions, although I ignored them to their disappointment.

One interesting interaction was when I was approached by professor Flitwick, he asked me if I wanted to join the Music Classroom. He must have researched about me in the muggle world, after hearing the announcement from Dumbledore. I accepted and it was like meeting a fan, he then asked me endless questions about my passion for the violin. He did give a few interesting insights like how using magic, for music sounds was so bland and free from error. I agreed and would just go on telling him that mistakes force us to explore alternatives. They require us to re-examine an issue and think creatively to find or develop other solutions or approaches. Mistakes teach us what doesn't work and encourages us to create new ways of thinking and doing. Basically, keeping things new as repetitiveness is obviously not what we want.

Leaving the great hall it was already 8:50 A.M. I was heading towards my first class for the day, transfiguration with professor McGonagall. The class was with Ravenclaw and Slytherin and to be honest. I wasn't really that enthusiastic about this class as I just prefer being self-taught. I'll just have to see how it goes. Walking into the classroom with Ben, we both take a seat in the back. During the whole lecture, it was basically McGonagall going over last year's work, to shave the rust off us. It wasn't necessary for me at all, since I just mastered them about two weeks ago. McGonagall was kind enough to let some of us who were confident with our skills to study something else, I sighed in relief and just continued my research on the Disillusionment charm.

When McGonagall passed my chair peeking at my book she raised her eyebrows speaking up asking, "Mr. Starscourge, you are studying a fifth-year spell, are you sure you know what you're doing?" I get stares from other kids and just look at McGonagall answering, "yes mam, it's a spell that caught my interest and I've already mastered all the third-year charms." Hearing my words, she had a stunned expression and replied "are you sure you're not lying Mr. Starscourge? Lying will not be tolerated in my class. If you actually mastered all these spells I will notify Mr. Flitwick about it to test your skills." I smile at her words and answer "no mam, I indeed have the ability. Do what you must, as long as it doesn't hinder my time at Hogwarts." She smiles and replies "you don't have to worry so much about it hindering your time Mr. Starscourge, I'm sure professor Flitwick will make it timely for you." I continued my reading for the rest of the class.

When class ended I was about to leave with Ben, however, I was interrupted by a student calling my name. Stopping, I look back seeing Malfoy with a smirk on his face, seeing this I just sigh. When Malfoy and his goons stopped in front of me, he proceeded to put his hand out saying sarcastically, "my name is Draco Malfoy, it is an honor to meet the prestigious Starscourge, otherwise known as the fairytale family, did you change your name to show off your favorite bedtime story." The goons laugh and I ignore him walking away. With physical anger on his face, he continues saying, "that's right leave, you're not worthy to talk to us, your betters." As I hear that I could see Ben get angry and was about to get revenge, however, I put a hand on his shoulder saying, "leave him, let the fool go, he'll learn his lesson in due time." We both walk away. Draco seeing he didn't get a rise of out me, just hisses like a good little Slytherin and tells his goons "let's go."

My next class was Care of Magical Creatures with Rubius Hagrid. Apparently, we were fitting four houses into this class schedule as the History of Magic, as professor binns was currently missing. So we couldn't have history class at this hour leaving us with skipping it and having Care of Magical Creatures early with Hufflepuff. We would be joined by Griffindor and Slytherin. This class was going to be big for Hagrid to look after, I'm not sure what the Headmaster was thinking. So I and Ben were off to Hagrids hut.

Harry Potter Pov:

I was pleased to get out of the castle after lunch. Yesterday's rain had cleared; the sky was a clear, pale grey and the grass was springy and damp underfoot as we set off for our first-ever Care of Magical Creatures class.

I and my friends were walking down the concrete steps towards Hagrids hut, for the class that was supposedly having all the third-years attend, since professor Binns went missing. I hear Ron ask, "you don't think that 'grim' thing has got anything to do with Sirius Black do you?" While Hermione answers "oh honestly Ron, if you ask me, divination is a very witty discipline. Now ancient runes, that's a fascinating subject." Ron continues asking "ancient runes? Exactly how many classes are you taking this term?" She answers "a fair few" Ron speaks up once again asking, "hang on, that's not possible, ancient runes are at the same time as divination, you have to be in two classes at once." Hermione in turn answers "don't be silly Ron, how can anyone be in two classes at once."

We were already close to Hagrid's hut and I could see loads of people surrounding Hagrid at his front door. I could see Malfoy talking animatedly to Crabbe and Goyle, who were chortling. Hagrid was waiting for the third years gathered at the front of his hut. He stood in his moleskin overcoat, with Fang the boarhound at his heels, looking impatient to start. "C'mon, now, get a move on!" he called, as the class approached. "Got a real treat for yeh today! Great lesson comin' up! Everyone here? Right, follow me!"

For one nasty moment, I thought that Hagrid was going to lead us into the Forest; I had had enough unpleasant experiences in there to last a lifetime. However, Hagrid strolled off around the edge of the trees, and five minutes later, we found ourselves outside a kind of paddock. There was nothing in there.

"Everyone gather round the fence here!" he called. "That's it - make sure yeh can see. Now, firs' thing yeh'll want ter do is open yer books." "How?" said the cold, drawling voice of Draco Malfoy. "Eh?" said Hagrid.

"How do we open our books?" Malfoy repeated. He took out his copy of 'The Monster Book of Monsters,' which he had bound shut with a length of rope. Other people took theirs out, too; some, like Harry, had belted their book shut; others had crammed them inside tights bags or clamped them together with bull clips.

"Hasn' - hasn' anyone bin able ter open their books?" said Hagrid, looking crestfallen. The class all shook their heads. However, a few students pointed towards someone who was sitting on the rock wall, reading it, while in his own world. Hagrid speaks up asking, "ah Mrrrr… Starscourge that's right, could ye tell the class how ter open their books?" It's him? I still haven't had the chance to thank him for that day. I could see a frustrated Hermione by him as if already asking how he opened the book but was ignored. When he heard Hagrid's questions he looked up answering, "You've got to stroke the spine," as though this was the most obvious thing in the world. "Look..."

He took Hermione's copy and ripped off the Spellotape that bound it. The book tried to bite, but he ran a his forefinger down its spine, and the book shivered, and then fell open and lay quietly in his hand. "Oh, how silly we've all been!" Malfoy sneered. "We should have stroked them! Why didn't we guess?" Hagrid replies, "I...I thought they were funny," looking with uncertainty at Starscourge. "Oh, tremendously funny!" said Malfoy. "Really witty, giving us books that try and rip our hands off!"

"Shut up, Malfoy," I said, Hagrid was looking downcast and I wanted Hagrid's first lesson to be a success. Malfoy and his goons "ooooooooo" at my comment. I walk towards him, as the third years surround us. Malfoy slowly walks in front of me, when he looks behind me and points, yelling, "dementer, dementor!" I look behind me and find that it was a prank, with all his goons laughing with black hoods over their heads. Hermione comes in a pulls me out with an unamused look and Hagrid 'ahems' for his attention. He spreads his arms out making a drumroll sound with his mouth as if announcing.

A magical beast that had the front legs, wings, and head of a giant eagle and the body, hind legs, and tail of a horse walked from behind the tree. "Isn't he beautiful… say hello to Buckbeak," said Hagrid. Ron then speaks aloud asking, "Hagrid, exactly what is that?" Hagrid answers, "That, Ron, is a hippogriff. The first thing you wanna know is they're very proud creatures. Very easily offended. You do not want to insult a hippogriff. It may be the last thing you ever do… Now, who'd like to come and say hello?"
