Escape

Roman rushed into the room with a baseball bat and lunged towards the kids while yelling and then Claire covered her arm with earth since her ability was to materialise earth and rocks and use it for practically anything.

She ran at Roman but he was too fast for her and smacked her in the face with the bat.

She then flew across the room and hit the wall and Connor screamed "WHAT DID YOU DO!" and Roman was sent flying.

He jumped on top of Roman and continuously punched him in the face until the child pushed Connor off his dad and Connor looked at what he did.

His fist was bloody red and Roman's face was bloody and disfigured. The child was crying, the sound of sirens was deafening and it seemed like Connor was in a daze, the wristwatch talked without prompt and told them to get out of the house and go to the park because the helicopter is waiting for them.

Alex ran up to Roman and pushed the child off of him and then picked Roman up.

"What would you guys be without me, youre so useless, I have to everything around here," Mei slapped Connor back to his senses.

Connor then used his ability to pick up Claire and Mei and jumped out the window and started flying toward the park.

Alex then lugged Roman on his shoulder towards the window and jumped out into the garden out front and burnt through the gate "Put your hands in the air" the police officers said while training their guns on Alex.

"Damnit, screw this, there's no way I'm getting caught after this long" Alex thought

He then tried to run but there was a truck with a machine gun mounted on it which shot a multitude of sleeping darts at him.

He used Roman as a shield and placed his hand around Roman's chest and burnt through it to his heart.

Now that Alex knew Roman was dead he used his fire ability to propel him into the air and stretched out his arm and Mei caught him by the fingertips and grabbed hold of his hand.

Connor then used his ability to pick up Alex. Alex was numb to the fact that he had ended someone's life.

Alex was lounging in the living room until Connor popped up in front of him holding a chocolate cake with the number fourteen on it.

It had been a year since he had taken the life of another and he had not felt any empathy for what he had done, it was almost as if he wasn't human anymore.

"Well, I guess life isn't the same as before, but I dont really care what anyone thinks" he thought.

Mei appeared out of nowhere and used a party popper while Claire made a huge rock stick out the wall above the Tv and shaped it so it said Happy fourteenth.

Alex faked a smile and thanked them all and took the cake out of Connor's hand and put it on the table where he cut it into 4 thick slices and they all ate it while binging a sitcom together on the TV.

Claire suggested that they should go outside and so they did, They went to the local supermarket and bought popcorn and drinks.

They then went to the closest cinema and watched a film and enjoyed it together. Claire, Connor, and Mei walked out of the cinema with huge smiles on their faces and Alex had a slight smirk.

They went back to the house, said their goodbyes and left the living room to go to the bedrooms.

While Connor was fast asleep, even snoring, Alex was thinking about what was happening to him, when he finally decided to sleep on it, he lied down on his right side facing the doorway and saw a shadowy figure.

Alex stretched out his right arm and shot a fire projectile at the man and before it hit him, he slapped Connor awake.

Connor then used his ability to push the person out the door and Alex propelled himself onto the ceiling using his left hand and then pointed his right at the ceiling and used his ability to push himself towards the door and punched the shadow square in the face but what he felt wasn't skin.

He held up his left hand and activated his ability and lit up his surroundings. He heard a shot and spun around in time to see Connor falling to the ground and a man wearing a suit and a black mask pointing a gun at him and felt something hit him and lost his vision.

"Hey Alex, Mrs. Hendricks is asking for you." the boy with messy black hair said. "Okay I'll go," Alex said while jumping off the bed. He looked around and saw that he was wearing a white shirt and trousers and so was James.

They were in a clean white room with two beds, a portable toilet which was also white, a sink with some toiletry, toothpaste, and two different coloured brushes.

he then ran out the room through a see-through glass door and into a long white hallway. He sprinted down the hallway and at the end, there was an intercom, he then stated his name and a portion of the wall to his right opened up to show a woman with black hair tied up in a bun with a stern look on her face.

She looked him up and down and told him to follow her and he felt pain on his cheek and woke up and looked around and saw Claire, Mei and Connor were encircling him.

He asked them where he was and they told him that they didn't know where they were either. "So you finally woke up snowflake." A blond-haired boy walked up to Alex and spat at him but Connor deflected it and it hit the boy in the face.

He got angry and created a sword out of rock and lunged towards Connor but a lanky brown-haired boy said "Stop it, Max, you're embarrassing us" and the two boys behind him nodded vigorously.

"What do you know Jake? they sedated us and put us in the same place with no supervision, it's obvious that the higher-ups want to fight to see who's stronger.

"Higher-ups? Ohh." Something clicked in Alex's head "They're the other operatives."

"What?" and "Huh?" were the collective responses from Claire, Mei, and Connor.

"Remember when the man who gave us our missions let it slip that there were other children who did the same things as us and had the same strange abilities."

That same man walked into the room and said "I'm sure you're all wondering where you are, well, the answer to that question will have to wait because I'm going to need you all to follow me in a single file line."

He spun around and walked to the door which he came through and they marched behind him through long, snaking hallways that led to a stairwell.

He then started walking down the stairs and through a door. When they walked into the room behind the door they saw two other groups of kids one of the groups were lying down, sleeping and leaning on the walls and the other was playing idly with their abilities.

The man who was leading Alex and Co disappeared and the speaker told the four different categories of elementals to go to separate rooms. Once they were all in groups of four the speaker said "Last one standing gets a promotion."
