Chapter 35

'What's wrong with her?' Omar was worried about Mika.

They entered the elevator as Kurt hit several buttons in unison. A separate compartment opened up that was large enough for a hand. Kurt placed it in without hesitation, and for a second Omar witnessed the bones in his fingers. The doors closed as the elevator moved rapidly.

"Sorry for the delay. I spent all night working, but before retiring I glanced at your current case. My curiosity caused me to pull an all-nighter." Kurt yawned as the doors opened.

"Did you forget the report?" Mika asked.

"I did actually, and I almost sent for it but didn't want peeping eyes," Kurt replied as they stepped out of the elevator.

They were entering the most secure level of S4, and it was Omar's first visit. He was surprised to see them entering a large hangar underground. This was overwhelmed by the UAPs lined up against the wall. He saw teams of humans boarding the crafts for today's work.

"That was my first reaction too. You can have a closer look if you want, but don't touch it." Kurt stated.

"Do I need a suit?" Omar glanced at the PPE stations.

"Only if you plan to disobey." Kurt chuckled as he followed behind Omar.

"They wear them inside when tinkering with the reactors," Mika stated.

'Did they shoot these down? They don't look like the ones I've seen either.'

"How old are these?" Omar asked.

"The ones here are from Roswell, but those two were excavated," Kurt replied.

Along the wall are three ships resembling silver disks, but the ones to the side were large enough to cover the hangar. One was a dark prism floating several feet off the ground with researchers studying the outside. The other was a large V laying against the wall with gold panels along the bottom.

"Where did you get them?" Omar investigated.

"One from the sea and the other was Central America," Mika stated.

"I've always admired your memory," Kurt told Mika.

"Thank you. Agent Murphy is waiting for us on site." Mika replied.

"It's the sleep deprivation again sorry about that." Kurt motioned Omar to continue.

Leaving the ships was something Omar wasn't ready to do. He heard rumors that disobedience flipped Kurt's switch. Omar glanced back one more time at the researchers entering the ships and sighed.

'I should've paid more attention in school.'

Omar caught up with the others as they entered a hallway filled with armed guards. They walked up to a door several meters thick controlled by a boxed-off operative. Monitoring the room from the walls were automated turrets controlled by the gatekeeper.

"Thought you were going on leave."

The vault began to unlock and gradually opened. One could see similar doors running on both sides of the hallway. Walking through Omar glanced back to see the turrets following them. He watched the vault lock behind him and wondered why the security wasn't strict on the ships.

Omar was entering the vault of S4, and it was filled with prisoners. There are breachers who were being studied for scientific advances or termination. Walking past them Omar could see vaguely through small oneway windows.

'Are these invaders?' Omar peeked as much as he could while walking through.

There was a reptoid skulking in a dark corner of its room, and all Omar could see was the glowing eyes. Across the hall was a tall man in a suit staring down the window. Curious about an inmate in normal attire he approached.

Omar peered inside and noticed the ridge for his eyes was smoothed over. Behind the creature, one could vaguely see white tendrils appearing, but Omar didn't see from where. A trickle of fear arose as it turned its head in response.

The empty-looking man began smiling and hitting the glass. When that failed the tendrils multiplied thrashing about wildly. Next, it was desperately trying to pry the vault open strategically, but found no seams, and only the sound of clinking metal.

"Can they see us?" Omar asked.

"Not but some of them can still sense you. Every block specializes in housing different species. We have to reserve the main block for the dangerous telepaths." Kurt stated.

"That's not dangerous?" Omar glanced back at the door.

'I hope it can't get out.'

"Only if you're in the room with it, but it can't control your mind," Kurt replied.

On the next block, Omar witnessed a woman with green skin, and pointy ears crying. He stopped momentarily seeing it was a beautiful girl with curly pink hair. The woman was wiping the tears from her eye with her sleeve.

Resting the arm back by her side she revealed black sclera with rosy eyes and white pupils. The mysterious woman curled up in her bed for comfort and tried to sleep the pain away in a dimly lit room.

'What did she do?'

Not wanting to fall behind, or get scolded Omar hurried along. They reached the final cell block with a laboratory adjacent to it. The final block had several transparent rooms at the end, and Omar went over to investigate one of them.

"There it is." Kurt approached a neatly organized desk grabbing a dossier.

"You think he will ever get with the times?" Kurt asked.

"Not likely," Mika replied grabbing the folder.

Kurt noticed Omar trailing off, and smiled as he went to join him. Mika knew what cells are in that direction, and had no desire to see them. She never liked entering the vault and would always leave it to the handlers.

'It's better over here at least.'

Mika heard a nearby researcher snickering before leaving for breakfast with the others. Curiosity got the best of her as she walked over. Inside the transparent room was a naked woman with pale skin and a shaved head hiding in her arms.

Nissa was sitting against the wall away from the surgical restraints. Her legs were huddled up to hide her womanhood, but the length of her legs indicated she was over two meters. Her long arms were wrapped around her chest, and Mika noticed the fingers tapping restlessly.

'Why isn't she covered.' Mika grabbed a nearby hoody with an irritated look.

Walking towards the room Mika put on PPE and went through a cleaning room. Entering the room the woman began to shake, and she gradually looked up from her arms. Mika saw the black eyes and heard a voice in her head.

Nissa had long hair, but it was shaved to allow instruments to attach easier.
