Lucas Griffin smiled, "No."
"Really?" Amanda Jenkins searched his deep black eyes, trying to discover something.
That afternoon, after she had recovered from the joy of victory, this question had occurred to her.
How did she beat William?
Of course, winning by one item didn't really count as a victory; it was more like a tie.
How could she possibly tie with William? It was too hard to believe!
"Why would I lie to you?" Lucas Griffin responded helplessly with a smile, shook his head, pulled her into his arms, and cradled her face in his hands. He looked down at her tenderly and said, "You don't even know how outstanding you are."
Amanda Jenkins blinked, "Seems like you know?"
"Of course," he replied, his lips curling into a smile, "My judgment of people is never wrong."
