Finding Roommate

"Oh my gosh, girl. You're so gorgeous no matter how simple your outfit." Giovan complimented after Amara sat on the shotgun seat of his car.

He scanned her from head to toe, not believing a simple white sleeveless crop top, faded ripped blue jeans, white sneakers, gold necklace, sunglasses, and a hair bandana, can still pull off a playful, stylish get up.

It's not even a designer brand, but Amara pulls it off as if it is one. Really, gorgeous and confident people don't need a brand; they are the brand!

Amara flipped her hair and threw a flirty wink to Giovan, to which Gio received a gagging reaction. The sound of their laughter is the only one heard after the car drives off to their favorite destination in Brighton City or City B for short.

"Hi, Sir and Madam, what can I do for you?" A restaurant staff smiled and greeted them after they entered the restaurant.

"A table for two, please," Amara answered while smiling and clinging to Giovan's elbow.

"Of course, please come this way."

The other customers from the restaurant can't help but glance in their direction. Admiration can be seen in their eyes as the two people look like celebrities. Only, they haven't seen them on tv.

"Oh crap! They will think we're a couple again. Stop clinging to me, girl, or I won't find my Mr. Right because of you." Gio whispered, complaining playfully.

"Hmph! Mr. Right your face, so why do you keep chasing red flags? Hmm.., maybe that is why you're not straight, pfft. You always keep straying in the wrong direction, Gia." Amara joked.

Giovan was speechless, so he secretly pinched Amara's arm. But of course, friendship wouldn't last without teasing.

"Ouch, ah," Amara exclaimed exaggeratedly.

"Keep your tone down, Amara!" Gio scolded.

"You're hurting me!" Amara retorted. Eyes were watering. She pulled off a timid and pitiful appearance, tugging the hearts of the men in the restaurant.

Giovan squinted his eyes, seeing through Amara's acting. The other people in the restaurant watch with anticipation while the staff waited on the side, already knowing these duo's antics as they always frequent their restaurant.

"Oh, baby. I'm sorry I did not intend to. Here, let me blow it for you." Giovan responded gently. She took Amara's hand and blew it while keeping his gaze on her. The women in the restaurant swooned at his action. To other people, it may look romantic, but in these duo's eyes, they're battling who will give in first.

Eventually, Amara laughed. And swing her hand to wrap around Giovan's shoulder. And Gio did the same. Together, they

chuckled playfully and headed off to the table pointed by the staff, leaving their audiences wondering what just happened.

"I need a roommate," Amara stated after the waiter delivered their food.

"Admit it, girl, that you miss being with me. No need to disguise it as offering me a roommate proposal." Gio grinned.

Amara rolled her eyes while elegantly slicing the steak on her plate. Well, she couldn't blame Gio for misunderstanding. He has been her roommate every once in a while, every time he visited City B for the past six months that she moved here. If not for Gio's dad and a sister to take care of in Alexandria City or, in short, City A, he might even move here with her.

"Kidding aside, Gia, I really need a permanent roommate this time to split the costs for my apartment's rent. The property manager increases the rental payment, and with all the bills that I have to pay, I think this is the most plausible solution for my financial crisis, at least."

Amara only has two days left before the due date of her new rental payment. Although she can pay the rent this month and Gio can definitely help her, she doesn't want to add another burden to her friend.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"Well, I thought I could find someone here who's willing."

"And how's your search going?" Gio smirked.

"Unfortunately, that's why I called you for a backup plan," Amara replied grimly.

"Not a surprised. With your negotiation skills, you might end up threatening your potential roommate instead of convincing them. And of course, who would dare to be a roommate of Amara Mondragon?" Gio laughed.

"You should be comforting me now. Why are you laughing?" Amara scoffed.

"Oh Missy, I take delight in your misfortune." Gio quoted from her usual remark.

With nothing to respond, Amara picks a piece of french fries and throws it at Gio's face.

"Oh my God! Where is the classy Amara that I knew?"

"Dead!"

"I need confirmation!" After saying that, Gio also threw fries in Amara's face, but the latter could catch the fries with her mouth.

"You know what, I think I found the solution to your problem. Definitely, this one is the perfect roommate for you" Gio evilly grinned while twirling the pasta on his plate.

Amara just raised her eyebrows. Not surprised anymore by her friend's quick-wittedness. She drinks her soft drink while waiting for Gio to spill the tea.

"Finish your drink first." Gio, advise.

"Just spill it out. So long-winded!"

"Are you sure?"

Amara just nodded in response. She was puzzled by Gio's playful smirk while watching her halfway through her drinks.

"Xavier Sylvester Griffin"

Before Amara knew it, she lost her grip on the soft drinks, and a series of coughing fits followed as her heart jumped in shock from hearing that name.

That very fvcking name whom she tried to forget but to no avail.
