New friend

"Hey, are you okay!?" Abby asked with concern while she walked towards Emma's car.

The car window was wind down and the girl sitting inside was leaning back on the sit with tears running down our tightly shut eyes.

Abby and her boyfriend Tunde had just parked their car. They were walking towards the direction of the hostel when they heard a female voice crying not so discreetly.

'Is she not aware that her voice was loud? What could have happened to make a girl as beautiful as this cried without reserve in a public parking lot?' Abby wondered to herself.

She handed her room key to Tunde and told him to go ahead of her, she would follow suit after she was sure that the girl was okay. Abby couldn't just walk past a fellow woman in distress. She wouldn't leave until she was sure the girl would be okay if left by herself.

Her boyfriend however insisted on waiting for her in his car. He wouldn't dare live her alone with an unknown person. He trusted no one. Especially now that he just waged war against the ¹Jamal family, who are the most dangerous and feared family in Lagos.

Emma slowly removed the hand she used in covering her eyes and looked at the lady that spoke to her. It was Abby, the girl that gave them the Lakes club recommendation. The girl that was envied by almost every girl in Scholar suite simply because of that connection, through the man she was dating.

Emma attempted to smile but the smile came out like a grimace before she slowly nodded her head to the question Abby asked about her well-being.

"May I come into your car? Abby asked again and immediately opened the car door, sitting down without waiting for Emma's invitation.

"Hi, I'm Abimbola, but you can call me Abby." She introduced herself with a wide dimpled smile.

"Who doesn't know you in Scholar suite? You're kinda like a celebrity you know" Emma replied while taking out some tissue from the dashboard to clean her face with.

"Oh really? Why is that?" Abby was genuinely surprised, how could she be that popular when she only stays at the hostel during test weeks and examination periods.

"You provided the recommendation for the TGIF party... Plus the girls staying on your floor were always oohing and ahhing over your man, telling everybody that cares to listen, how good-looking and rich he is...

Word of advice... Don't bring him around here too often. Girls are desperate these days. There's no telling the extent they would go to snatch boyfriends."

Abby feigned a sad face. "Oh, I'm pained! So I'm only popular because of my boyfriend!? That's very bad! I urgently need to improve on my social skills then, so people would know me for me.

And those girls drooling over my boyfriend can oohs and ahhs all they want... Having wet dreams is the nearest they could get to my man, so I'm not bothered..." Abby shrugged and they both laughed.

"You didn't tell me your name though," Abby asked

"Oh sorry! I was too busy fangirling Emma said and they laughed again. "Emmanuella Da-Silva, Emma for short!"

"Oh my God! I can't believe it's you! Now it's my turn to fangirl"

"It's me what!? Emma asked, not knowing what Abby was talking about.

"You are Emmanuella Ayinke Da-Silva. The person that I've always wanted to meet in this school!"

Emma was even more confused "The person that you've always wanted to meet!?" She repeated Abby's statement, frowning and laughing at the same time.

"You're always the queen with the overall best CGPA? God! I can't wait for you to graduate so I can finally wear that crown."

"Are you kidding me!? Emma asked with a huge smile on her face, her problem forgotten at the moment. "You're not that Bidemi or are you!?... The part-time student?" She asked, looking unbelievably at Abby. She has been hearing about a 300 level student named Bidemi who was just 3 points behind her.

"Yeah, I'm that Bidemi... Abidemi Abimbola Benson" Abby replied with her full name and a huge grin on her face. "But I'm not a part-time student, I just don't come here that often because I have to split my time between two schools that I attend..."

"Two schools!?..." Emma was surprised and impressed "You attend two schools!? How do you cope then!?"

Abby just shrugged her shoulders and smile. "I'm also in my final year at the Nouveau school of fashion and design... What a coincidence! I swear I was just telling Tunde about you..."

"Tunde?" Emma asked questioningly since she was not sure who Abby was talking about.

"My boyfriend..."

"Oh really?"

"Yeah!... Do you like ice cream? Abby asked, barely waiting for Emma's reply before she continued "Let's go get some."

Your eyes are all puffy, here..." She fished inside her bag for a small compact makeup. "Let's conceal that puffiness and make your eyes look prettier..." Abby continually talked as she deftly applied a light makeup on Emma's face.

"There!... That's better!" She smiled at the result of her handwork and returned the makeup inside her purse.

"Oh fuck! I forgot my wallet inside the bag I carried yesterday." Abby exclaimed after rummaging inside her bag. "I'm always doing that and it's so frustrating." She complained further in frustration.

"No worries, I'll..."

"No never mind... Tunde will take us... Problem is, I'm not sure if he would allow me to indulge in this guilty pleasure of mine... But I'll sure give it my best.

He doesn't like me taking too many sugary things because it worsens my period cramps... But what can I do? I love ice cream a lot." Abby said and smiled.

Emma was enthralled by the burst of energy from Abby, who was a vivacious black beauty, with glowing skin that looked soft and smooth like silk.

When they got out of the car, Abby held Emma's hand as they walked towards her boyfriend's car like they've known each other for a very long time.

Tunde came out of his car where he was waiting when he saw the girls approached him. He saw how Abby was laughing and chatting with the girl and wondered how she could find it so easy to make friends with a stranger she met ten minutes ago.

He knew he was the complete opposite of Abby who was just as warm as he was cold... But they loved each other still.

Abby pulled Emma to where Tunde was standing and introduced them...

"Baby remember the girl I was telling you about in the car?..." She asked, letting go of Emma's hand for her boyfriend's arm, hugging it close to herself. "The one with the overall best CGPA in unilag?"

"Yeah?"

"This is her... Meet Emma. Emma Da-Silva... What a coincidence right?" Abby asked smiling lovingly up at him.

"Yeah..." Tunde simply agreed. He didn't know what else to say... Whether to smile or offer his hand to the girl. He found the whole introduction thing awkward.
