Chapter 24

Kale sat in the car after opening the door for her.

Ari looked through her phone, "I guess we are going to the family restaurant again. My friend is already there."

Kale started the car without saying a word.

The engine roared and they went on their way.

A few moments later, he parked the car behind the restaurant.

Ari received another text, she giggled cutely, "She wants us to hurry, she already got a room."

Kale had just taken off his seatbelt, he nodded and walked out to open the door for her.

He held her hand elegantly and followed behind her, again attracting the eyes of many since his last visit.

Right now, there are even more people here than last time. More women to be precise, murmurs and giggles were heard across the restaurant as these two entered.

Ari was feeling weird about this kind of attention they were having, especially noticing the many women chatting while looking at Kale.

It was normal, but something seemed off.

Suddenly two waitresses came up to them, they seemed to be fighting alongside each other over who would take care of them.

Ari's eyes were slowly turning cold, not knowing what was going on, but she knew it was about Kale.

She turned to look at him, and again he was uncaring about everything, looking straight ahead without as much as looking back at any of them.

Ari clenched her teeth and walked to the elevator.

He followed quietly.

The two waitresses were standing in front of them, looking back at Kale from time to time.

Ari was madder that their actions weren't professional at all.

She was pissed.

She turned her head away and didn't want to look at Kale anymore, sighing.

They walked to the room, finding a beautiful blonde woman waiting for them.

She stood up and jumped on Ari as soon as she stepped into the door.

She was a foreign woman, wearing a pink crop top with long sleeves and bare shoulders, showing her gorgeous neck and collarbone, her small waist with attractive lines, coupled with a white mini skirt and long heels, emphasizing her body curves and alluring long legs.

She was candy to the eyes from top to bottom.

Ari hugged her tightly as this girl was acting like a cute little girl in front of her.

"Missed you~," said the pretty lady.

"Me too~"

"How long has it been, a year?" Asked the lady with a charming smile.

"It felt like more for me," answer Ari.

"For me too~" She hugged her again.

They were acting like a couple of little girls.

The woman suddenly raised her head as she was met with a tall figure behind Ari.

She let go as she met her eyes with Kale for a second.

Ari noticed, "Lyna, this is my bodyguard, Kale. Kale, my best friend Lyna." She introduced the two.

"Hey, I am Lyna, don't mind the weird accent, I am french," said Lyna as she raised her hand toward Kale.

He didn't shake her hand and only nodded his head. "I am Kale, Miss Soo's bodyguard."

Lyna retracted her hand, "I heard a lot about you."

Ari turned her head in a flash, looking at her menacingly.

Lyna didn't mind her and kept looking at Kale, who was also unbothered.

He just nodded without a word and went ahead to hold the chair for Ari.

"Why did you do that!" Whispered Ari to Lyna.

"Shh, just wait," she held her arm and walked her to the table.

Ari sat with her friend while giving her fierce eyes. Kale followed suit and sat down.

"So, Kale, Ari here told me that you used to travel a lot, hmm?" She tilted her head slightly as she leaned a bit on the table, looking at him with her bright blue eyes.

"I do," he answered calmly.

"Have you ever been to France?"

"Yeah," in many parallel dimensions, he thought.

"Ouh, alors(then)... Est-ce que tu parles français? (Do you speak french?)"

Ari turned to look at him, she didn't know what her friend said.

Kale raised his cold eyes, his eyelids falling halfway on his eyes, he looked at her, bored, "It is disrespectful of you to talk in a foreign language she doesn't understand while she is at the table."

The other two were taken by surprise by his words.

Ari's eyes widened, this was the second time he had done something like this. At first, it was with her uncle, and now her friend.

"It's okay," said Ari, trying to meddle in. "I brought you here so we can all be friends."

Kale turned his head, looking at her for a moment. "You wish for me to be familiar with her?"

Ari didn't know why but she shied away from his gaze while nodding.

He slowly turned to Lyna, "I do speak french, but I wish for you to refrain from speaking a language she wouldn't understand." His composure brought pressure to the room.

Lyna, could only nod her head, staring at him calmly, trying to figure him out.

"I am sorry, I didn't mean to," she leaned in closer, her fingers holding her chin.

Ari's eyes turned to her friend. Did she start hitting on him yet? She asked herself, not really sure.

"Do you have a woman in your life, Kale?"

"I don't," he said with his coarse voice.

"So, you are single huh?" Lyna seemed happy.

He nodded slightly.

The waitress stopped their conversation by showing up.

Ari spoke with her first, taking the usual.

"Me too," he followed suit.

Lyna then jumped in, "I am going to have the same as this handsome man."

The waitress bowed her head and left.

"I am sorry if I am being this straightforward," she said apologetically, turning to Ari, "You don't mind, right?" She winked at Ari.

But before she could react Kale stood up. "It seems you have matters to talk about. I will be going to the bathroom first." He left without waiting for an answer.

They were both left alone. Ari started whispering, "You didn't say it was going to be this awkward."

"I didn't think he would only look at me once. I don't believe a normal man can have that much self-restraint and control over his instincts."

"What do you mean by that?"

"It means...' that for an S rank, his eyes were naturally unfazed, his pulse didn't budge at all...' no, nothing. It's just he is too calm, that even I with my heightened senses couldn't pick up anything from his body."

Ari's fingers fidgeted a bit. "Yeah, it seems that I forget that a lot, about you."

Lyna looked at her with a warm smile, "It just means you don't care as much, and you are genuine about our friendship."

She then looked at the door. "Why don't I, give it a last push?"

Ari followed her eyes, "You mean?"

"Yeah," she stood up, "Wait for me here."

Ari nodded nervously.

Lyna followed Kale's steps.

She opened the door of the men's bathroom after looking around.

As soon she closed the door behind her, every part of her instincts screamed. Her eyes widened. Her heartbeat pounded heavily faster. Her hair almost stood up. Every part of her body, was screaming to leave this room.

A tall dark figure stood behind her.

"P-please," she begged, tears falling from her eyes.

"Un descendant de la Bête du Gévaudan (A descendant of the beast of Gévaudan)..." his voice was calm and deep, but each word stomped on her heart.

"S-s'il vous plait (Please)..." She was crying, trembling.

Wasn't her grandfather one of the five strongest people on the planet? One of the legendary beings? Why? Why was this man exuding pressure surpassing him?

"How dare a mere dog, speak in my presence?"

I apologize for taking a long leave, will pick it up again. Do leave a review. And thank you.
