Kara argues with Dina

'To ask my only daughter, whom I loved so much to leave me… And to push her towards people she did not even know. I must have lost my mind. But this is not the time to show my weakness. If I can convince Dina to go with them, then she would never find out about my cancer that is eating me alive for a few years now.' Kara decided to stand firm on her decision.

From the time Dina started to sleep in her room, it had become difficult to hide the medicines from Dina's eyes. It was not like Dina would pry open every drawer and check what's inside it. But she did not want to get exposed anytime soon. She does not want to add any more burden on Dina's shoulders.

"No! Why don't you understand such a simple thing, Dina? She is your grandmother and I am no one to you. It is right for you to go back with them." Kara shouted.

"Mom, please no…" Dina was about to break down but tried her best to keep her emotions in control.

She believed that this was all a bad dream and she would wake up soon.

"It was because of you, I had to stay back here. As there is no one to take care of you, I could not go with Emma. When Emma left us, why do you think I didn't go with her? It's because of you. You cannot go or travel anywhere. You don't have a proper ID card or a passport. Have you ever wondered why you were never sent to school? It was because of me, I always kept you under the shadow and never let you go out," Kara started to blurt out half-truth and half-lie.

When they shifted to this new city, they thought they would get a new birth certificate for Dina. But Kara was too afraid that if anyone found out about Dina, then they would take her away. So, they decided to wait for a few more months to analyze the situation.

The few months turned into a few years and now Dina had already become an adult without any proper identity.

"Isn't it because of my medical conditions, I never went to school like other normal children? So, what's new about that? Moreover, I am already going out and working along with Mike. We can always apply for a passport anytime we want. It's just that till now we didn't find the need. Now that we have decided to go stay with Emma, I can apply for a passport." Dina suggested.

"Dina, How could you not understand what I am trying to say? I had been trying to keep you away from the whole world. If you want to hear the naked truth then listen. I am sure that the medical condition is actually caused by my upbringing. Because of the fear I had, I never let you go out as I did not want anyone to find out that I stole you from them. That's why you don't even have an id card or a birth certificate," Kara tried to explain while hiding her sorrow and heartache.

"But I run a company and I own it…I mean, I own half of the shares in that company while Mike has the other half." Dina tried to argue back.

But her voice was so low that if they did not hear her keenly, they would have not understood what she actually said.

"No, you don't. The company is registered under Mike's name. You don't exist in the real world as you do not have any identity for yourself. I stole it from you because of my selfish desire. I am sorry, I did this to you but I never regretted having you in my life before. Right now, I am afraid that I would start to regret my decision. So, please go with your grandmother," Kara said with a heavy heart and lowered her head.

She has to try so hard to not let her teardrops betray her. If she shows any leniency now, then she was sure that Dina would easily change her mind and make her go against the decision she made minutes ago.

"I don't believe you. You are lying... I... I..." Dina tried to think of something to prove her mother wrong.

"When I went to the police station after hitting those guys I bit, I mean after I punched them... every time, Mike came to my rescue. So, if I did not have any identity as you said, would the police officers have not found out about it?" Dina argued.

Millie could not believe what she had just heard. She was already having a headache after hearing that Dina had a medical condition. Now her granddaughter goes regularly to the police station after hitting some random guys? Biting? Punching? Does that mean, she is a criminal? Is she a gangster? She looked at Dina in astonishment.

The mother and daughter duo ignored the bewildered Millie and were still arguing with each other about the ID card issue.

"You never had any ID card. When the police asked for your ID card, you had always given Mike's phone number. You never showed your ID even once to them. Mike somehow managed and gave money to each and everyone to keep their mouth shut about that matter." Kara informed her.

As Dina was still looking unconvinced, Kara raised her voice and said,

"You could never show them your ID card as you did not have one with you. Moreover, you have become a regular offender, so they just got used to you and started to call Mike directly from then on!" Kara tried to explain it to her.

"No, Stop. I don't believe you. You are lying to me. I have an ID card with me. Look here." Dina shouted and opened her bag to take out her ID card.

Kara couldn't bear to see her frightened face. She closed her eyes and sat on the sofa with a heavy heart. Dina pulled out her fake ID card and showed it to Kara. The one that she had asked Mike to make when she decided to drink alcohol to stop seeing those ghostly beings. Kara opened her eyes and looked at Dina with compassion.

"Dina, this ID card of yours is fake. You do know that, right? You had asked Mike to get you one when you were just fifteen years old as they don't allow minors to buy alcohol. Isn't this the same card that you always used to enter the bar? Listen to me, Dina, if you go with them, then they will give you a proper identity. They will take care of you very well. I can go to Emma and live the rest of my life happily with her." Kara tried to convince Dina.

Millie could not believe what was happening! Her granddaughter is also a drunkard from the age of fifteen? How many issues does this girl actually have? Is there no end to the list? She almost got a heart attack when she heard Dina uses a fake id card to go to nightclubs.
