Chapter 52 You said you are going to tell me something yesterday

"Are you feeling sad?" Ace suddenly asked, greatly surprising Aria, who had no idea that he could sense her sadness.

"How did you know?" Aria asked, taken aback.

"Aria, I can feel your sadness. I don't know how, but I do feel it in my heart that you are sad," Ace said softly, his heart beating in his chest.

"Hmm, okay," Aria said with a soft smile, feeling glad that he understood her without saying anything.

After thirty minutes of talking on the phone with each other, Ace said, "Hmm, good. I'll let you go get some sleep for tomorrow. Don't forget you have school to attend."

"Okay, I will miss you," Aria said, but inwardly, she didn't want to stop talking to him.

"I will miss you too," Ace said, but before Aria could disconnect the call, Ace said, "I love you," with a soft voice full of love.

"I love you too," Aria said with a small blush on her face after hearing what he said to her.

"Goodnight," Ace said warmly, his tone full of love.

"Goodnight, hubby," Aria said softly, looking at herself in the mirror, her face red, and a teasing smile on her face.

Hearing what she said, Ace's eyes widened, and his heart beat increased as he hurriedly said, "What did you say?" Ace asked, wanting to hear Aria call him hubby again.

But to his disappointment, Aria giggled, and he heard the phone make a beep sound, informing him that the call had been hung up, and he sighed. However, he immediately smiled after remembering she had called him hubby.

"Hmm, it's just now that we talked, but I already want to call him again, even though I have nothing to say." Aria hummed as she talked to herself while walking toward her bed, and she fell onto it without having to sit down.

"Hope I'm going to see him tomorrow, just like how it is every day, but this time it's changed, and I hate it," Aria said, a sad expression of missing on her face.

And slowly, as she kept thinking of Ace and how she was going to spend the day without him, Aria sadly dozed off.

Ace sat in the garden for some time, thinking about Aria in peace as he watched the flowers with a smile on his face, and he slowly muttered, "My lovely girl." Ace said, his tone full of love and cherishness toward Aria.

Slowly and elegantly, Ace walked back to the hall where the party was taking place, and he sat down beside his grandma, who was busy chatting with Tom, her husband.

Seeing Ace coming back, Carrel couldn't help but turn around and take a look at him to see if he was all right. After seeing Veronica and how she was angry at the waiter, she could tell the girl wasn't polite, kind, and innocent-looking; she just hid her true colors in front of them, and she wondered what made her that angry.

"Are you alright, my son?" Carrel asked carefully, wanting to know if something had happened between them.

ONE HOUR BACK

Earlier, she excused herself to the restroom, and on her way back from a far distance, she saw Veronica walking angrily without caring whether the guests saw her like this, and she didn't care about her image or so. But what she didn't expect was for the girl to bump into the waiter carelessly and slap someone older than her mercilessly, just because he was a waiter.

It made her angry, but from another side, it made her view the girl from another angle.

BACK TO PRESENT

"Yes, I'm in an excellent mood, beautiful Carrel," Ace answered back with a smile on his face that reached his eyes, and Carrel studied that.

Seeing his mood wasn't off, and he was indeed in a good mood, Carrel let out a sigh of relief as she continued chatting with her husband.

Time moved fast, and finally, it was time to go home and have a rest. After the Lewis family saw them off, the family of Steve left the Lewis mansion, heading to the Steve magnificent mansion.

"Grandma, Grandpa, goodnight," Ace wished his grandparents before walking away, ignoring his dad, whom he took as nonexistent.

"What a brat, you won't even wish me goodnight," Alexander said, standing behind Ace, who seemed unfazed by his father's comment.

"Stop that and let him enjoy himself. He's my grandchild, and he should do what he wants. Thank God Ace is a reasonable and good kid, unlike some arrogant bastards," Tom said to his son, who was upset about Ace's behavior.

"Yes, let my handsome guy rest and forget about it now. Otherwise, if you hold it to heart... you know me well, right?" Carrel said, raising her brow at her son, who stomped off.

"Hmm, Dad, Mum, goodnight," Alexander said and walked away.

Ace's grandparents, Tom and Carrel, adored Ace and his younger brother, Alex. Since they hadn't spent much time with them when they were younger, they now wanted to cherish and pamper Ace as much as possible.

Inside Ace's room, he showered and lay on his bed, feeling tired after thinking about everything that had happened that day.

"Hmm, it was a long day," Ace said, slowly drifting off to sleep.

The next morning, Aria's mother, Carla, woke her up. "Aria, you'll be late for school if you don't get up now!"

Aria rubbed her sleepy eyes. "Huh? Mum, what is it?"

Carla hurriedly said, "Oh, my daughter, get up! You have school to attend to. You forgot!"

Aria's eyes, which had started to doze off again, fluttered open. She jumped out of bed and asked, opening her closet to take out her school uniform, "Mum, what's the time?"

"It's 7:30," Carla replied.

Aria panicked. "Oh my, I'm late! Class starts at 7:50. I just have 20 minutes to get to school. God, I have to hurry!"

Aria rushed to the toilet, brushed her teeth without bathing, got dressed, and picked up her school bag. She hurried out of the house, leaving her mother to tidy up her messy room.

"Aria, wait!" Carla called out, hurrying behind her daughter.

Aria halted and quickly walked back to meet her mother halfway. Carla was panting due to her rapid pace.

"Here, you forgot your book on your study table," Carla said, handing the book to Aria.

"Thanks, Mum. Otherwise, I could have been sent out of class because of this book," Aria said, collecting the book from her mother and quickly making her way to the bus stop.

At the bus stop, Aria boarded the school bus and arrived at school on time. She hurried, half-running, to her class.

"Eh, stop! Why are you running?" Helena asked, standing outside the classroom, waiting for Aria.

Aria breathed heavily. "Huff, Helena, is the teacher not in the class right?"

Helena smiled. "Eyy, calm down, Aria. The teacher isn't in the class. It seems you ran from the gate, didn't you?"

Aria sounded angry at herself. "Yes, I'm afraid the teacher might get to the class before me and I'd have to stay out and miss the class. I couldn't afford that, especially for biology class, but I overslept."

Helena asked, "Oh, you overslept? Seriously, when did you start this routine?"

Aria's mouth formed an 'O' shape as she listened to Helena. "Helen, it's not because I started a late routine, okay? I just didn't feel like sleeping early."

Helena teased, "Oh, so you didn't sleep early just because you didn't feel like it, huh? Or should I assume you were busy chatting with Ace or maybe thinking of him?"

Aria's face turned red as Helena giggled and quickly sneaked into the class before the teacher noticed her, dragging Aria along.

Meanwhile, in Singapore, Carrel asked Ace, "What are you doing in the garden alone like that? You could have asked me to accompany you and chat, get to know each other more before you leave."

Ace turned to look at her with a smile. "Grandma, I wanted to do that at first, but I saw you talking with Grandpa, so I came here alone to get some fresh air."

Carrel sat down next to him. "Yeah, we were indeed having fun and waiting for you to come and join us. Your father went out."

Ace said, "I had no idea I could come and join you."

For some minutes, they sat in silence until Carrel spoke up. "You said you were going to tell me something yesterday, but you forgot."

Ace smiled, and Carrel's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "What was it, dear?" she asked, fishing for conversation and eager.
