Chapter 26: Rediscovering Protection Magic

After everything that has happened over the past few weeks, I have come to realize something very important. Before coming to this town, I used to spend much more time researching magic than I do now. While it's true that Twilight is here to study the magic of friendship, which is closely related to the Elements of Harmony, I, on the other hand, have not been progressing with my research on protection magic.

This realization has led me to deep reflection. Protection magic has been my specialty and passion since I began studying magic. In my previous world, there was always something new to learn, something new to discover. But since I arrived in Ponyville, I have been so focused on events and protecting my friends that I have neglected my own academic progress.

Today, after pondering it for a while, I have decided that during the storyline of the upcoming episodes, I will concentrate closely on studying protection magic. According to my notes, the upcoming events are classified as not very dangerous, among them the dragon problem, the slumber party, and the encounter with the zebra. This will give me the perfect opportunity to dedicate myself exclusively to my research and advancements, in order to present them to Princess Celestia.

The morning began with a visit to the Canterlot library, where I met Twilight. She was engrossed in her own studies, as usual. "Good morning, Twilight," I greeted as I approached her.

"Good morning, Starbright. What are you working on today?" she asked with a curious smile.

"I've decided to resume my research on protection magic. I feel like I've neglected my studies, and I want to make sure I'm making adequate progress," I replied with determination.

Twilight nodded understandingly. "That sounds like an excellent idea. If you need help or any particular book, don't hesitate to ask."

"Thanks, Twilight. In fact, there are some old texts on magical barriers and shields that I'd like to review. Could you help me find them?"

Together, we searched the library shelves and found several promising old books. I spent the rest of the day immersed in these texts, taking notes and diagramming possible new protection spells.

Over the next few days, I isolated myself a bit more than usual. Every morning, after breakfast, I would head to my study corner in the library and spend hours working on my spells. Words and magical formulas flowed through my mind as I tried to perfect every aspect of my protective enchantments.

One day, while I was deeply engrossed, Applejack passed by the library and peeked in. "Hey, Starbright! We haven't seen much of you lately. Everything alright?"

I explained my dedication to research and how I was trying to advance my protection magic. "I get it, sugarcube. Sometimes it's important to focus on what you love," Applejack said with a smile. "But don't forget to step outside and get some fresh air now and then."

I thanked her for her advice and promised to take a break to enjoy the outdoors from time to time. Nevertheless, I remained focused on my task. As the days passed, I began to see results. My spells were stronger, the barriers more resilient, and the shields more versatile.

The night of the slumber party was a welcome break from my intense research. Rarity, Applejack, and Twilight organized a night in the library that turned out to be fun and relaxing. Although I kept somewhat reserved about my progress, it was nice to disconnect a bit and enjoy the company of my friends.

During the dragon problem, although I participated in the mission to convince it to leave, I tried to observe how I could apply my new protection spells in a real situation. It was an excellent opportunity to test my theories and see how they behaved in the field.

The encounter with Zecora, the zebra from the Everfree Forest, was another interesting event. Despite the initial distrust of the ponies in town, I managed to learn a lot from her knowledge of herbs and natural remedies, which complemented my magical studies.

After weeks of dedication, I felt that I had made significant progress. I decided it was time to share my discoveries with Princess Celestia. I prepared a detailed report of my findings, including diagrams and examples of my new protection spells.

One day, after making sure everything was in order, I sent a letter to the princess requesting an audience to present my progress. The response came quickly, and soon I had an appointment scheduled to visit her in Canterlot.

The day of the presentation arrived quickly. I felt nervous but also excited to show my progress. Twilight accompanied me for moral support, which was a great help. When we arrived at the castle, we were greeted by Princess Celestia, who welcomed us with her usual warmth.

"Welcome, Starbright. I'm eager to hear about your advances in protection magic," Princess Celestia said with a smile.

I nodded and began my presentation, explaining in detail each of my discoveries and demonstrating some of the spells I had perfected. Princess Celestia watched attentively, nodding and occasionally asking questions.

When I finished, Princess Celestia stood up and approached me. "Starbright, I am very impressed with your dedication and progress. You have demonstrated great talent and an admirable commitment to your studies. I am sure your discoveries will be of great value to Equestria."

I felt a surge of pride and satisfaction. "Thank you, Princess Celestia. It's an honor to be able to contribute in some way."

"Continue with your research, Starbright. I am sure you still have much to discover. And remember, you can always count on my support," the princess said with a smile.

After the audience, Twilight and I returned to Ponyville, feeling satisfied with what we had achieved. From that day on, I decided that although I would continue protecting my friends and participating in adventures, I would not neglect my research.

Protection magic was not only my specialty but also my passion. And now, with a renewed sense of purpose, I was determined to keep advancing and discovering new ways to use my magic for the good of everyone in Equestria.
