EIGHTY- SIX

My party was celebrated on a Saturday as usual and the venue was our new penthouse.

There was everything that was in the previous one, celebrities, million dollar decorations, lights, a four layered multi flavoured cake which didn't use a stand, and the cakes didn't sit on each other, but magnetic levitation made them float over each other.

Everyone from my floor was invited, so as my old friends like Alister, Jeremy and yes, even Cameron.

Ruby and Mack were the only ones from their floor who were invited.

When they sang me the birthday song, Lucille popped the champagne first and showered me with it, then everyone who had a bottle followed suit.

I was wet and cold as they poured the expensive drinks on me, then shrugged my shoulders and started gulping it down.

After that, the mountain of presents was presented to me.

Mark got me a lot of gifts, but my favourite was the latest Ps 12.

Ms Lucy got me a super awesome and expensive mound of gifts, which—unlike Oleh's—were not for girls.

Lucille showed me a pure white Tomcat and I didn't understand till she spoke,"This is the father of all your kittens."

I gasped and said,"How did you know?"

"I conducted a DNA test on Ashley and found the match and searched all over the city to find him and the best part is... he's a stray."

I thanked her and hugged the cat.

Ruby presented me with a square glass box about a foot in length, with a white cushion on the inside and several gemstones of every colour of the rainbow and every colour between, they were three dozens in total. She said,"This is my collection of corundum gems."

I arched a brow and said,"Ruby loves her rubies."

"Don't."

I then frowned and asked,"How long did it take you to collect all these?"

"Six years."

"I can't take this, it's too precious."

"That's why I'm giving it to you, my most precious friend."

My insides melted when she said that...

I am her most precious friend?

That's so precious...

I suddenly really wanted it, not because I was being greedy, but because she wanted me to have it.

I thanked her and everyone for their gifts and presence.

In that time, Rose was watching a CCTV camera feed of the party that she had hacked and said to herself,"So I'm the uninvited Maleficent? Well I have a special gift for you Tomcat..."

The next day, at school, Ruby came to me and seemed kind of shy as she asked,"Can I ask my precious friend a favour?"

"Sure, anything."

"Could I please have the rubies back? I need them for something important."

I didn't actually want to give them back, but I needed to stop being a child.

I said,"Sure, I'll bring them tonight."

"Thank you, my precious friend."

I felt butterflies in my stomach.

I took the gems and Mark was confused as to why she would take them back but I said,"She needs them for something important, I'm sure she will return them."

"But aren't they yours now?"

"Then let me lend them to her."

He shrugged his shoulders and drove me to the school.

She was standing outside the dormitories and thanked me then went towards the garden.

I was going back to Mark's car when I got a call from Ruby. She asked,"What are you doing here?"

"I was giving you the rubies."

"What are you talking about? I don't take gifts back."

I realized just then and there that I had made a huge mistake...

I ran and followed Rose and she waved at me from inside her driver's car and they started driving while I was running after them.

Mark!

I told him to follow their car so he did, he asked why and I said,"It was Rose who asked for the rubies, not Ruby."

"Of course it was her."

I realized just then and there that Mark could drive just like Ms Lucy...and puked in a bag.

We caught up with the car and I ran to it and ordered the driver to open the door, but he didn't want to. Mark just gave him the look and he opened it immediately.

We opened the door and saw...Rose was gone.

But how?!

She must have escaped during the time I went to tell Mark to follow them!

But where would she go?

I got it...

Rose put the sapphire under her diamond coated hydraulic press and switched it on, at low speed and high pressure, she knew what she was doing.

Just then, Mark and I barged into her room and she pretended to be surprised and said,"My precious friend, what are you doing? I'm not done with the rubies."

My eyes were red as Mark saved the blue ruby from being crushed. We got all the gems and took them back home safely.

I apologized to Ruby for being so irresponsible but she understood what happened, I couldn't possibly tell the difference between the two of them.

I assured her to be extra careful with them in the future.

The day for Ruby to go on her all expenses paid trip to Dubai- UAE came and Mark, Mack and I accompanied her to the airport.

I was surprised Rose was also bidding her goodbye but actually felt happy because of that.

If she was here, she couldn't hire a hijacker for Ruby's plane.

Unless she did it ahead of time...
