If dad said okay, it must be good for me (2)

At two thirty in the afternoon, she was all set ready. She wore tight jeans which looked rugged by the cuts and scratches on the knee part. She paired it with a lavender loose hanging hoody sweater and white rubber shoes. She looked like she just had her debut when in fact she just turned 21 last January 28.

Through her window, she saw Charles coming up. He wore his signature denim straight cut jeans paired with long sleeves shirt. His thick hair was like randomly combed with his fingers but it was really his style. He looked more appealing like this rather than neatly combing his hair like the Philippine national hero.

Daryle quickly went down to meet him.

" Hi handsome,!" She greeted him first with an uncertain smile.

" Have you seen my wife-to-be?" he couldn't help but test the depth if the water.

She blushed and covered her face with her hands. This made her more cute and lovely in his eyes.

"Don't hide, I mean it! " He teased again.

"If you keep on teasing me like this, im afraid I will change my mind." She said.

He was suddenly taken. 'What? Change her mind? Had she decided already?'

"Ouch! Let's go then before you change your mind!" He offered his hands to her then hand in hand, they descended the steps to the highway. His car was parked parallel to the roadside drainage. He opened the door for her and closed before he circled around to the driver's seat.

He drove to the next village where there was a view deck overlooking the entire valley. He opened the trunk to get a bag full of some random stuff and guided her away from the deck. Farther away was a clean meadow with wild guava trees randomly grouped together. He took out a mat wide enough for both of them to sit and lie down, a wide but thin sheet of cloth, some snacks and two bottles of water.

"I didn't know you prefer picnics rather than watching movies." She said as she help him unpack the stuff.

"I always come here to do my homeworks you know." He replied.

"So what homework are we doing here now?" She teased, then suddenly realized that she sounded like insinuating something, she covered her mouth.

"Ha ha ...very good question. We will answer that later, but that depends upon you cooperation." He grinned and pinched her chin.

She blushed again and dared not answer back.

The atmosphere became awkward and silent for a few good moments. He was thinking about what are the best words to use and how to say them at the same time she was nervous how to answer him if he asked her to be his girlfriend. What could they do and not do. She was afraid that they'll lose control of themselves and do something impulsively.

"Ms. Daryle Duran...." His voice finally came out after swallowing so many times. They were seated next to each other with their hands on their knees as they supposedly admired the view in front of them.

"Yes Mr. Charles Marquez?" She turned her head to her right side.

"Have you already considered everything I told you last night?" He asked yet half of his conscious self was afraid she didn't.

"Which one?" She smiled teasingly.

Recalling their conversation last night, he quickly asserted and answered, "the second one"

"Second one, hmmmm...." she pretended to think hard as she tapped her head with her fingers.

He swallowed again as she looked at her amusing actions. He was waiting but it seemed his forehead was sweating already.

" 'Let me love you now and I'll court you till the rest of our lives'...was that it?" she raised her brows.

Looking at her raised brows sent him to panic. She has always used this method when she wanted to tell someone her displeasure.

"Yeah, it's good you recalled." He nodded and waited.

"Charles Marquez, you are not hard to love. I didn't see any reason why you didn't find the courage to ask me this before." She said in her normal tone.

"Meaning?" He still needed to clarify.

"I actually thought about this the moment I opened my eyes this morning. You slept on my lap last night remember?" She turned her head to look at his face.

"Oh yeah and its the sweetest night I ever slept. Thanks by the way for this" He patted her thigh next to him.

"You are welcome. Actually, it was my way of knowing you. If you had confessed before, I wouldn't be so confused last night. I needed to familiarize myself with this feeling, you know. We are batchmates, and you probably know that I never had any relationships." She was glad she could explain herself with ease.

"So, what was the answer when you opened your eyes this morning?" He asked with an eager smile.

"I'd say, if dad says it's okay, then it must be good for me." She said as she look intently at him to see how he would react.

" Ms. Daryle Duran, You are saying YES!" He said softly as his eyes grew tender.

"Yes Mr. Charles Marquez. I'm willing to try life with you." She said as she reached out her hand to pinch his cheek.

"YES!!!! YES!!! YES!!! She said Yes!!!" He rose from his feet and jumped several times as he shouted.

She chuckled seeing him go ecstatic.'Why are boys acting weird like this?' She thought as she recalled many stories she either heard or read.

After jumping for joy several times, he turned to her and extended his arms to pull her on her feet. She rose up but she didn't expect his hands immediately lifting her in the air and swirled around until they felt dizzy and dropped on the mat.

He placed her down with his elbows under her, one under her neck and the other one under her knees. His head rested on her neck as they both breathed heavily. They stayed like this until the swirling feeling disappeared.

"Am I not heavy? She lifted her head to check the holding her like a princess.

"Hmmmm...." he just hummed.

"Charles, are you okay?" She reached out to lift his head which was on her neck. Why did he suddenly fell limp? She struggled to free herself from his arms to check if he was just acting of he was really sleeping.

"Charles! Why are you like that?" she shouted at him hoping he will stop his acting.
