Chapter 6

Beside a tree, near where I laid stood a uniformed man speaking into a receiver,

 "Target's been spotted, begin to tread with caution",

"Copy" a voice from the other end of the receiver replies as couple of officers started approaching me from every angle,

"wait!" the man in charge commands on seeing two suited men and a woman walking towards me, their supposed target, "who the heck are those" he mutters as one of the suited men squats in front of me and tries tapping me awake,,

 "It seems he's out cold" the man tapping me faces his comrades, "take the little boy lying beside him I'll take Daren" the little boy and I were then taken by the people in suit,

"Where the hell do they think they're going, get them" the officer screams into the receiver but there wasn't any response, instead all he heard was loud thuds at different end, "what da...", before he could understand what was happening a bullet was shot through his skull and he dropped dead.

"Mmm, so soft" I grabbed the pillow my head was on and squeezed it against my body, how something be so soft and comfortable that its penetrating into my dreams, the bed itself was infact on a whole other level, the comfort was just heavenly..., "hold up, I don't remember sleeping on a bed this good" I immediately awake with a yank, "what da" I looked around me in awe, at the moment I could not find the best word to describe it, but still how did I get here. Then suddenly I could hear the door creaking wide open,

"Look who finally decided to join the living" the man sighs in relief, "you know for a moment there I thought you had given up the ghost",

"Given up the ghost..., who the hell are you" I blurted out in confusion,

"Come on now, that isn't the way to treat someone who saved your life" the man says as his smile turns I to a frown, "Use that tone on me again, your ungrateful ass is gonna hit the road, then back to prison" the strict look in his eyes immediately made me conduct myself and I nodded, he then sighs, "come walk with me" he walks out the door and I follow obediently. After some minutes we reached another room where I could see quite a number of people walking to and fro which we then entered, "woah" I exclaimed as I saw many people walking up and down, the slight clap of the man's hand immediately drew their attention

 "Everyone, welcome our newest member Daren, try to make him feel at home" he smiles then dismisses them back to what they initially doing,

 "I don't get, is this some kind of business enterprise or what?"I asked surprised,

 "That's a way to put it, on the outside we're a printing company, but on the inside we're actually a mafia organization" he explains,

"Not sure I understand what you mean but okay" I replied, "where is he",

"Where's who"

"The little boy that was with me"

"Oh!" he exclaims, "don't worry he's receiving special treatment somewhere else, you'll get to see him soon", he then looks farther to edge of the same room, "so you know, you'll be following us on our next operation, so come on let's get familiar with your collegues". I then followed him to the edge of the room where I met three males and two females, one of the females then used her legs to wrap me as she pulled me tightly to herself

 "Daren right?, I'm Stacy, the man you've been following around is our boss, Donald, while this remaining sad bunch are Vivian, smith, Harry and Andre, try to be respectful to them but you don't need to be respectful to me, all I need is for you to do anything I say, and I mean anything" she winks at me sultrily, 

 "Daren is gonna follow y'all to the next operation so it's best we go over the plan once more, Andre, you're to handle the building's security system, Stacy, you'll be the decoy for the guards that will be surveying around, Vivian and Smith will be outside, waiting inside the car ready to drive once they see you guys approaching, while Daren you're gonna fill the open spot, but don't worry Harry's gonna accompany you as your bodyguard...",

 "Bodyguard?" I interrupted in confusion, "and all these plans?, where exactly are we robbing", Mr don then looks at me with a smirk,

 "Diamond event hall, one of the most richest and popular of it's kind in this state, and you are going to fake a high celebrity, your VIP ticket has already been bought". "Woah, this is all happening so fast", I thought as I sat on one of the nearby sofas, " the innocence I tried to prove once upon a time is pretty meaningless at this point, o God, let this go smoothly, I need to get through with this if I at all want to reach where I'm heading", a sigh then escapes my lips, "I'm ready"I called out not knowing what I was getting myself into,

 "Hmm, were did all that eagerness come from, I like it", Mr don then commends, "now take these buds, they're gonna serve as means for communication" he then passes out a tiny receiver to each of us, "Now everything has been put to place, get ready, for tomorrow we move out".

Now that was thirty four hours ago, and now we are finally in front of the 'Diamond event hall' and oh my Goodness it was huge, if I had maybe pulled this off when I still had some value for myself I just might have named my self 'greatest of all time' but now nothing matters anymore, the only thing that I felt mattered was the completion of this heist...",

 "Daren" my pretend bodyguard Harry called, dragging me out of my thoughts, "you ready for this?"

 "Yeah, I guess", I replied with a neutral tone that overshadowed the fear that lingered inside of me, but yeah, I was ready...
