End of Day 1

Perspective : Conrad Garnier

"Feed the the horses".

"The oats are over at that carriage".

Kyle pointed me towards the carrage.

I went over that carriage, lifted the curtains and to my surprise, who do I saw?

It was Thor Gild,

His legs were covered with carefully wrapped bandages, revealing a glimpse of blood, looked like a bite from a Dare wolf, the bandages themselves looked haphazardly applied, as if he had done it himself, It was no surprise that I hadn't seen him the whole day, beside this morning.

I said, wearing an obnoxious grin on my face,

"So, this is where you were hiding?".

He stared at me with the intensity of an injured beast, ready to lash out if I approached any closer. Afterward, he turned his face towards his wound, revealing a pitiable state.

He said,

"Leave me be".

I without showing any pity or sympathy on my part, nonchalantly picked up the bag of oats that I was originally there for.

As I withdrew my head back from behind the curtain, he cast a scrutinizing look upon me, almost as if he was challenging my presence. Despite his obvious discomfort, there was a hint of defiance in his eyes. He grumbled,

"What are you looking at ... just go already".

I couldn't just leave him like that, my conscience was divided, a part of me wanted to just ignore him, but ignoring his obvious pain didn't sit well with me for some reason, Not to mention that It would be irresponsible.

If he was to stay in good shape, he would surely be a good addition to our efforts for survival here.

Yes, That's what it was?

He would have been an excellent ally.

I didn't cared, it's just "Thinking about the big picture". There was no place for petty grudges. Afterall.

But I didn't wanted him to assume that I cared or any nonsense like that.

I took the oats and Fed all the horses while, others were preparing a campfire and readied the ingredients for cooking.

I Nonchalantly went towards Kyle and said,

"The dead body .... it's reeking in my carriage..... we can't sleep there, we have to remove it somewhere else".

Kyle replied,

"Well we can't put it in someone else's carriage.... neither can we leave it behind".

"I think you all have to make do with it".

I suggested,

"Why don't we keep it at the carriage with all those

fire stone bags, and oils... and stuff".

Kyle asked,

"We aren't keeping any food in there?.... are we?".

I replied,

"No, But, there are oats for our horses though... I doubt the horses would complaint".

Kyle understood,

"I see,... then do as you please".

After that I searched for Patrick,

I found him near the campfire, chatting with Keira.

I called him,

"Hey Patrick, lend me a hand, .. will ya?".

Patrick came towards me,

"What do you want help with?".

I replied,

"I have to wake Regina up .... so, the body at our carriage .... it's stinking up the place ..... so, can you please transfer it to that carriage over there".

I said that while pointing towards the carriage where Thor Gild was hiding.

Patrick showed a hint of hesitation for a bit but knowing him he, couldn't say no.

I didn't had to do all this, if that moron had just accepted treatment like everyone else, who got hurt.

Must be something about his non existent pride or something.

After sorting that mess out, I went to wake Regina up.

She was out like a log,

She appeared to be sleeping soundly, as her head was turned to the right, a tiny trail of drool escaped her slightly parted lips. She looked like a child.

As much as I wanted her to keep sleeping, she hadn't eaten anything since this morning, I had to wake her up.

I shook her,

She yawned and rubbed her eyes, then she sat up slouching, opening her eyes in quick blinks while murmuring.

"What ?".

I said,

"Aren't you hungry .... come on, let's have dinner together".

She replied,

"What's for the meal?".

I shrugged and said,

"By the way .... drool is sticking out of your mouth".

As soon as she heard that, she blushed instantly, with her ears and face turning red, then she quickly wiped away her drool with her hands.

I said,

"That is nothing to be embarrassed about".

"It's human nature".

She replied,

"Shut Up!".

Man! I loved looking at her blushed face, It gave me a sense of comfort and assurance for some darn reason.

As I was extending my hand for her to climb down the carriage, I noticed a poisonous snake poised to strike, it's hiss echoing with animosity, without thinking much, Instinctively, I thrust my hand forward, intercepting the snake's lunge, as I felt it's fangs sank deep into my hand, I screamed.

Everyone who heard, rushed to my sight.

With the question "what happened?".

After that,

I caught its head, opened its mouth, released my skin from its grip, then I tossed it in the bushes.

Regina looked worried but before she could say anything, Elkdrack, Emilia, Kyle and others approached me,

Elkdrack asked,

"What happened Conrad?".

I replied,

"A snake bit me".

Then out of the blue, Emilia took my bitten hand that I was cradling, and said,

"Snakes here are sure to be venomous".

"We have to suck the venom out of your wound".

As I felt the sting of my wound, Emilia placed her lips on it, sucking and spitting to heal it, the repeated actions gradually made my wound's blueish hue disappear.

Meanwhile I sensed Regina staring daggers at me,

When I looked at her, she averted her eyes.

It was as if she appeared,

Then Emilia tenderly tore a piece of her bandage, she skillfully wrapped it around my wound.

I looked back, Regina was not there where, she was a second ago.

I felt a disturbance in my being, my instincts screamed at me to look for her, while my conscience was quiet.

Emilia said,

"I hope that wasn't too ... straight forward of me".

I replied,

"No .... I should thank you .... you saved my life twice now".

Emilia said,

"In my home town .... many people get bit by venomous snakes on the daily .... so, sometimes It appears that fatal that .... they die on the spot".

"So, I didn't wanted to take any chances".

I re assured her,

"As I said, It's totally fine .... you saved my life so, don't over think it".

Emilia replied,

"But your friend over there, she seemed a bit.. uncomfortable, me touching you and all that ".

I assured her,

"Ohh she .... she behaves like that sometimes, but you shouldn't worry though .... like I said, you saved my life so, I am very thankful ..... I have to repay you for your favour, down the road".

She replied,

"No .... you don't have to".

"Besides I don't even know your name yet".

I answered,

"My name! .... my name It's Conrad Garnier".

She replied,

"Conrad Garnier .... My name is Emilia, they call me,

..... Emilia the bloody hand .... But I don't like it though".

I commented,

"I think it's a cool name".

For some reason, I wanted this conversation to end as soon as possible.

Then she said,

"Hey Conrad .... let's have dinner together".

Then I replied,

"You go ..... I will catch up".

Emilia left my sight, a sense of relief clouded upon me, which was immediately over written by an urge to track Regina.

I went looking for her near the campfire, the one where food was being cooked.

Kyle noticed me and asked,

"You fine ... friend".

I showed him my bandaged hand and said,

"I think .... I will be all right".

I spotted Regina, no, it was more like she spotted me, sitting on a log surrounding the campfire,

She pointed me to take a seat right beside her.

I sat where she showed me, I was planning to sit with her to begin with.

She said,

"Wait here, I will bring the food to you".

Then she stood up and went to get our food.

After a moment, she returned back with our food,

It was two loaves of bread and a soup made of boar's meat.

She kept her's down.

Held mine in hand.

Since the hand I was hurt, was my dominant hand.

Regina suggested,

"Since your hand is injured .... let me feed you".

But, my hand was perfectly functioning, It wasn't swollen or anything.

So, I declined.

"No ... It's not that bad, I can use my hand".

As I declined her suggestion, Regina's face contorted with rage, She ruthlessly brought her foot down, stomping upon my outstretched hand, her once warm inviting eyes were now piercing me with chilling iciness, a sinister aura enveloped around her, for a moment I feared for my soul.

I replied ignoring her threatening aura,

"Fine, If you want to feed me .... than feed me".
