Chapter 110

I stood in silence as I looked down at what Asher gave me. I didn’t cry, I didn’t feel anger – I was just in disbelief.

I reckon this was Asher’s last resort – however, I will not let him get to me this time. I promised Jaughnn to always consult him about these things… I promised.

I tightly shut my eyes as I sat down – Lavender sleeping in her cradle as Lux played games. Jaughnn didn’t know about Asher’s arrival as he was still at work – however, I doubt nobody told him.

He didn’t call or anything and so – all I’m waiting for is for him to arrive.

The papers lay in my hands – a police investigation report of a dismissed case. One where the writer clearly stated that money was involved, something I’ve been living with for the past decades of my life.

After a while, as the clock hits half past 7 – our bedroom door opened. I kept my back facing him as I didn’t know what to ask nor what to say.

Should I be angry? Should I trust Asher?
