The Third Victim

After putting on his gloves, he pulled out his cell, called the station, and asked them to dispatch some people to the murder scene. He knew that the more he waited, the more he would lose evidence.

He felt the pulse and saw that he was dead. It had just stopped beating, and the blood flowing had yet to stop. He didn't know what was happening, as this was something that he had never encountered.

"Alright, the first victim was burned, and his apartment was left in ashes. And the second one was the same, but his teeth were melted. And now, this man right here, is dead by bleeding through all the orifices? Just what the hell am I faced with?", he thought and began to investigate deeply.

He didn't have Sarah's number, or else he would have given her a call for the autopsy reports. He needed to know what was happening and turned his head towards Steven. He was doing the same, and he squatted next to Jack.

"Any idea as to what might have caused this? You're a chemist and have experience in this stuff right?', he asked and saw Steven sniffing the body in different places. It was on the side in which the killer had bumped into him, and a smile formed on his face. Jack was confused as to why he was smiling.

"This seems like the job of a chemist, just like me. I am not sure who is this good, but whoever it is, they're damn good. There isn't even the slightest smell here", he said and got back up. He took a little bit of the blood that had leaked and placed it at the tip of his tongue.

"Jack, try tasting your blood, and then his", he said and Jack followed. He picked up his pocket knife and drew blood from his fingertips. He licked it and felt the metallic taste of blood, which was a normal taste of blood.

He then followed Steven's instructions and tasted the blood. There was a metallic taste, but what made him shocked was the sweet and tangy flavor that was mixed in with the metallic taste. Jack stumbled back and fell to the ground, with a plop.

He felt a burly hand on his shoulders and turned around to see an angry Chief Holmes. The expression on his face was gloomy, and Jack instantly knew that his mission was a failure. He was supposed to guard them, and the killer got away right under their noses.

He looked at the clock and saw that there were around thirty hours left until he nabbed the killer. He got back up and dusted himself, as he knew showing a sign of weakness in front of the Cheif was something that he was looking forward to,

"Look who we have here, You can't keep a girlfriend, and now you're not capable of catching a killer. Seems like the 'Jack Brown', is losing touch with his skills. I wonder if that is because you might be losing your head a little in the clouds", he stated with a matter-of-fact tone.

Jack had a scoff on his face and he didn't give an answer to him. Instead, he turned his head away and began to look at the body, which he was sure held a clue to him solving this case. Right after he thought about the taste of the blood, a pop-up came in front of his face.

[You have found all the clues]

[Your First Case]

[Find Clues 3/3]

[Deduce and form a theory 0/1]

He then had a smile on his face, as he knew that in order for him to deduce a theory, he must begin to move around, and use his investigative skills much better. And it was time for him to begin his interrogation with the people he knew was connected with him.

"Now, let's begin the investigation. I have a solid lead now, and Ms. Fiona seems like the person who would have something for me to dig deeper into", he muttered as he pulled his gloves from his hands and disposed of them.

He slipped his hands into his pockets and began to walk back towards the apartment to tell her of the news that her father had been killed. His steps were slow and steady, and he was looking at the pop-up that came when he was dealing with the Chief.

[Clues 3/3]

[Clue 1: The gas piped were tampered with and thus had led to the explosion. Unknown substances detected]

[Clue 2: The person was ingested with something, that made his teeth melt away. Further investigation is needed]

[Clue 3: Unknown substance floating in the bloodstream, leading to death. Substance to be found]

After reading all three of the clues, he was astonished that the way he was thinking was right. But the people behind these killings, he needed to know who they were. Right now, to him, all three of them were seemingly disconnected.

"If there is a single connection between them, I am sure that someone is targeting them, and if there might be someone else that might be connected. Now, only if I talk to Ms. Fiona, I'll be able to make sure of this theory", he deduced as he reached the building.

Just as he was about to get to the stairs, he felt a slender hand on his shoulder. The sound of panting got him, and he turned to look at who it was. It was Sarah, standing in front of him with a pad and pen.

"I… need you to… sign on this sheet… to give the reports… of the autopsy", she said through panting breaths. Jack was so deep in thought that he didn't hear her calling out to him and running.

He was embarrassed slightly, and he quickly signed the sheets and gave the paper back to her. She checked the sign and gave a curt nod and pulled out a couple of papers from her coat.

"There is the medical history of our first victim, Harold Robin. Once you look at that, I think you will understand how he was murdered. And the autopsy report, I will explain it to you tonight back at home. And Jack, we need to be quick", she said and turned around and began to run back to the crime scene.

Jack kept the papers in his coat for now, and walked up to the door, and gave it a short knock. Fiona opened up the door, and she was astonished to see him alone.

"Where is my father?", she asked in a skeptical voice. He looked at her ad gave her the news straight to her face.

"Mr. Henry was killed a few moments ago, just around the block. May I come in so that we will be able to talk about any details?", he asked as he stood there outside the door.
