My Goalkeeping System

What is worse than being the worst team in the world? For Dave Richards that was a very easy but heartbreaking question to answer, a goalkeeper who performed poorly between the sticks, he was still available as a first-choice goalkeeper because Unique FC didn't have any other goalkeeper. He was slow on his feet, couldn't jump properly and worst of all, he didn't know how to hold the ball properly. The only way that Unique FC was able to survive taking in a massive goal-fest sometimes was because of the extra effort they put in their defence. After a terrible match in which Dave wasn't able to make any saves and also made a lot of mistakes, he was seriously scolded by the managerial staff and almost received a beating from his angry teammates. He got home sad and also angry at all those who told him he looked like his grandfather and would therefore inherit his goalkeeping skills. He discovered a hidden door below his room and when he got down there the only thing he could see was a black box. He found the box to be quite familiar and when he opened it the last thing he saw was a bright white light when the light was gone he could see something in his field of vision. [ Welcome Dave ] [ You have activated the Goalkeeping system ] A female voice read out the messages. This is a story about how an ordinary man who didn't know his place between the sticks went from nothing to pro and beyond that.

Lelemar!

Now that the first half was over, Emma had suggested that they should go sit down for a little while but when she turned she could see that all the seats were now occupied and there was no longer any space for sitting.

"And there's no longer space for us." She said turning back to Dave.

"If you're tired I could carry you for a little while," Dave said.

"No, that would be really weird," Emma said, looking around.

Dave shook his head as he leaned closer to her, so close that she could feel his breath on her neck, and that alone had sparked up a reaction in her body.

"I would do anything for the love of my life." He said.

"I know you will Dave but no," Emma said, pushing him back. "Maybe when we get home you can carry me and stand all you want but I'll just manage now."

"Ok," Dave said, turning his gaze back to the pitch.

<You know it would have been really embarrassing for the both of you if she had agreed for you to carry her>

'I know but if it's for her, I don't mind.' Dave said as his eyes darted towards her and back on the pitch.

'So what type of quest will I be getting next?' He asked.

<That will be up to the system and will depend on your life situations>

'Ok, I just hope I get good quests.'

<You still have a long way to go Dave>

'I know it's not like I'm going to retire anytime soon, I'm only twenty-one.'

"Alright, the second half is about to kick off as the players are making their way to the pitch now." Jim's voice resounded in the stadium calling the attention of those who were lost on their phones back to the match.

"Finally," Emma said, returning her phone to her pocket.

"It looks like Barcelona is going to be making a change before the game kicks off but I don't think it's Ciro," Steve said.

The players of both teams took their positions in their different halves as Vasquez stood over the ball in the kick-off spot.

But before the referee blew his whistle to start the game, the official responsible for substitutions raised the substitution board to display the number twenty-three in red and the number eighteen in green.

"Ok, so it is Scholes who will be coming off for Arnold," Jim said.

"And you can see and hear the FC Barcelona fans applauding him as he makes his way out of the pitch," Steve said.

Scholes walked to the sideline where Arnold hugged him before running into the pitch.

"If Scholes received an applaud, Arnold is receiving a standing ovation from the fans now," Jim said

"They love him so much, his gameplay this season has improved compared to how he had played last season," Steve said.

"A goal and four assists so far in the champions league campaign," Jim said.

The referee waited for Arnold to reach his position before he blew his whistle to signal the start of the second leg.

"And there you have it, the beginning of the second half," Jim said.

"Arnold is the game now but there's still no Ciro," Steve said.

FC Barcelona had begun the match doing what they did best in every single match, keeping possession. It doesn't matter whether they lose, win or draw they always come out on top when it comes to ball possession.

For now, they were just trying to keep the ball in the area while thinking of an attacking option.

Frednado passed the ball to Jeffery who quickly passed it back to Frank before Diego could get to it.

Frank tried to get away from Roland before making a long pass to Frednado but the pass didn't get to him as Foden cut in from behind to steal the ball which he quickly railed to Roland.

"Uh oh, Barcelona are in trouble here," Jim said.

Roland made a run with the ball as Pedro raced towards him.

He found a space to take a shot but Pedro quickly placed his leg in front of him to block the shot.

The shot deflected on his leg and flew away from the goalpost for a corner kick.

"And now Barcelona has one of those dangerous corner kicks to defend," Steve said.

Pelcao stepped up to take the corner kick and as soon as he had heard the referee's whistle, he sent the ball flying into the middle.

"The players are rising high to meet it, including Frank, who was to go for a catch," Jim said.

Frank rose high, he didn't rise higher than Roland but he had been able to catch it because he didn't have to nod it like everyone else had to.

"That was risky but leaving the ball open for Roland was also risky and the captain doesn't want to take any chances," Steve said.

Frank didn't even wait for five seconds after he had caught the ball as he quickly threw it towards Zinin who was leading a counterattack now.

Lelemar had understood the gist of the matter and was already racing ahead of Zinin as Vasquez tried to keep his distance just in case the ball dropped loose on his side.

"Supreme United are in danger of a Barcelona attack here," Jim said.

Zinin knew that he wasn't going to get past Conan without getting pulled back and that was why he quickly lobbed the ball to Lelemar who didn't even let the ball to touch the floor before using an overhead kick to get past Steven and while the ball was still in the air he slotted a shot at the bottom right-hand side of the post.

Perez had dived towards it but he couldn't get to it on time as the ball smashed into the net.

"That is a wonderful goal from the super kid Lelemar!! Mr talented!!" Jim was always energetic whenever a goal was scored, he didn't care which side it was, he just loved to scream goal.

Lelemar rushed to the left corner as his teammates rushed after him and had all clustered up on him now.

"You can see the smile on Ciro's face after that goal," Steve said.

"He's probably saying in his mind, put me in so I can set my boy Lelemar up for a hattrick," Jim said.

"And there's a high chance that he will do it whenever he comes in, he's the joint top assister in the champions league campaign so far," Steve said.

"Look at the devastated looks on the faces of the Supreme United players as Barcelona celebrate their goal," Jim said.

"And do you hear that?" Steve asked.

"Of course I do, the Barcelona fans are chanting the name of Lelemar," Jim said. "They have to, he scored the equalizer with a nice free kick and now he puts his team ahead with this wonder goal."

"Yeah, Roland is clearly frustrated with the defense now and it looks like he's going over to talk to their coach," Steve said.

"Supreme United had a hope of winning this match but it seems like FC Barcelona just made their goal this night tougher for them," Jim said. "Last time it was Ciro, this time it's Lelemar."
