Chapter Thirty Nine: An Uncomfortable Conversation

Mazakin picked up her steps in order to keep up with Lucifer. She wanted to stop him, talk to him and gauge how he was feeling before they went into wherever Melek had trapped Nick and Jonah. She wished for an opportunity to talk to Jonah before Lucifer barged in there.

“Please slow down,” Mazakin mumbled, feeling a slight burn in her calves.

“I would have thought you’d want to speed this process along, my dear. Get your answer once and for all. Or are you regretting telling me the truth about your dealings on earth?” Lucifer's tone was blank and she couldn’t see the expression on his face. She could feel the burning tears of fear building behind her eyes.

“I don’t regret telling you the truth. I know I needed to be honest with you but I’m worried about Jonah and Nick. Worried what you’ll do when you walk into the room,” Mazakin admitted.

Lucifer let out a boisterous laugh, but kept walking quickly down the long purple aisles.
