[Episode 3]
These howls... It's like they're trying to make our eardrums pop!
The glass-breaking howls increase a couple notches in volume as my stomach churns at the thought of being torn to shreds by those carnivorous claws and teeth.
Why does a seventeen-year-old like me have to go through something like this!?
I dash towards the centre of the group in fear, distancing myself from the origin of the howls- the wolf filled trees.
Now that I'm nearer to Murim, maybe I should take the opportunity to ask, "Hey uhh, Mr Wolf Murim Sir? Why am I the only one who hasn't received my weapon yet?!"
Murim pauses and then responds, "I am not too sure human. This is the first time such an instance has occurred…" A troubled look briefly forms on his rigid face before he returns to his usual uncaring expression, "Well, good luck surviving girl."
"G-girl? I'm clearly a guy!"
He stares at me intensely, placing a paw on his chin like a wise man stroking his beard, "Is that so?" Murim turns his head away flying higher-up with an eerie smirk.
I look away and cough, feeling slightly intimidated. He's a wolf so it's obvious why he can't tell the difference between human guys and girls!
Anyway, It's definitely not a good sign if even the person in charge doesn't know what's going on. How could he simply say good luck, that damned wolf! I'm totally dead if I stay here. I better find a way to escape!
I scan every corner of the area and spot a reasonably sized gap between the wolves.
If I run fast enough while they're distracted, I might be able to get through.
"Arghhhh! Nooo help me!" A man in a light blue suit gets pounced on by one of the wolves near my planned escape route.
I flee towards the gap formed. Briefly glancing back, I signal a sorry and thank you sign to the unfortunate victim- nodding with my head in gratitude.
This sudden rush of adrenaline from this pressure is making the cuts I'm receiving from twigs and branches feel almost non-existent.
These branches pierce through my skin, cutting into my shorts.
I keep running through what seems like an endless amount of trees and greenery yet still don't see any wild animals or edible plants.
Though It only takes a few moments before the air starts feeling damper and I eventually encounter a vast body of water.
This lake should be a safe place to stop and rest. It looks so pristine and clean with the emerald shimmer it reflects with the light.
And besides, no wolves seem to be coming after me so it's probably safe enough to take in this artistic view and have a quick break.
Almost hyperventilating from my lack of energy, I plop myself on the ground in a crouching position and simultaneously place my belongings near me.
I rummage for something to drink. Though, maybe inhaling the few bottles of water I possess is a terrible idea, especially without knowing what to expect next.
I glance over at the lake and put my bottles away.
Although it may not be the most sanitary thing to do, I drink from the pool of water and close my eyes, rinsing my face.
Each droplet cools me down and the serene atmosphere and gentle sounds of dripping make me feel more peaceful.
Right, the water should be clear enough to use as a mirror to check and clean the cuts I received from the twigs.
Reopening my eyes to investigate the cuts, a face- quite unlike my own- gazes back at me.
Who is this person? They look similar to my younger sisters, but I don't remember seeing any of them back there.
Wait a minute- I don't recall seeing anyone behind me either!
From the shock and a horrendous attempt to turn to see who's standing behind me, my hands lose their grip on the ground, causing me to splash, head-first into the water.
