"Dell, do you want to be my subordinate?"
Keith offered to Dell an opportunity to become his subordinate.
After all, a young master should have a subordinate!
When Dell heard of Keith's offer, he was stunned. After all, Dell didn't know what Keith saw in him to be worthy of becoming his subordinate.
Dell was well aware that in the school hierarchy, he was at the bottom while Keith was those students who were at the top. Because of that, Dell was easily bullied while the teachers didn't bat an eye toward him.
Furthermore, Dell knew that bullying was common in this school since the teachers didn't take any action against it. Those teachers unanimously agreed that bullying was tolerable since it enacted the adult world as well as society.
From the perspective of a teacher, it was better for the students to become familiar with the cruelty of society rather than face it later on.
But Dell was one of those unlucky ones who became a victim of bullying within the school. He knew that if he accepted Keith's offer, he could be free from bullying but at the cost of becoming his subordinate.
"Why do you want me as your subordinate? From what I know, I don't have any redeeming qualities that are worthy of serving under you. Even if I become your subordinate, I don't know how I can prove myself useful to you."
Dell asked Keith and sighed depressingly afterward. He was well aware that he couldn't be useful to Keith and because of his uselessness, none of the teachers nor the higher-ranking students bothered in helping him.
"For information. I need someone who can help me gather information on campus. You just happen to fit that role. After all, you are at the lowest of the hierarchy. None would bother associating with you so you can easily acquire information without raising any suspicions."
Hearing Keith's answer, Dell was somewhat satisfied. If it was only information, he could indeed provide that.
"If I am not wrong, those at the bottom of the class hierarchy have their secret forum, right? The errand boys of those high-rank students must have a lot of information to share in that forum which you can access and take advantage of."
Keith added as he mustered all of his charisma while looking into Dell's eyes.
"I need you, Dell. With your help, we can deal with any tyrants from this school!"
Dell somehow got affected by Keith's charisma as he was tempted to accept Keith's offer.
And Keith's guess wasn't wrong. There was indeed a secret online forum for all of the students at the bottom of the hierarchy and Dell was a member of it.
The secret forum was mostly the lowest-class students ranting about the bullying and such but there was often useful information about the high-rank students.
As for Keith, he didn't know the existence of the secret forum but he had just guessed it from the novels and comics that he had read.
In those novels with a school setting with bullying elements, the protagonist was often someone who was the lowest in the class hierarchy but have connections with other lowest-class students.
Keith didn't know anyone or anything in the school since he was just a freshman. So if he wants to court Lynn, he needed to meet her but also deal with her pursuers.
And to know information about her pursuers, the school's secret forum should be adequate. Keith didn't want to offend everyone especially if he didn't know who he was dealing with.
If Keith still had his young master status in his past life, he wouldn't be this cautious. Now that his parents couldn't provide him with the life of a second-generation rich young master, Keith decided to take matters into his own hands and not worry and bring problems to his parents.
Not to mention, Keith knew that those lowest rank students in school must be simping for Lynn Walter or else she wouldn't become the school belle. Because of that, they should know more information about Lynn than him including Lynn's favorite places on campus as well as her pursuers.
'But for Lynn to require her ideal friend to be athletic as well as well-versed in combat, she must have an aggressive admirer who is infamous for his tyranny on campus. If I am not wrong, he must be the gang leader in this school.'
Keith thought of his potential enemy in school. He didn't know who were Lynn's admirers but with the information network that Dell was part of, it shouldn't be difficult to know about it.
If there was something common between students, it was that they love gossip as well as rumors. Some might be baseless rumors but every rumor has at least a part of the truth in it.
That was why Keith needed an informant who could become his eyes in this school. It just so happened that Dell fit that role.
"Can you give me time to think about it? I will give you my answer tomorrow."
Dell asked Keith, not rejecting nor accepting his offer.
"Hmm… why are you hesitating?"
'Have I lost my young master aura?'
Keith started to doubt his charisma as a young master.
'Shouldn't the script be Dell immediately accepting my offer while feeling honored about it?'
