Istaqa

In 2020, A native-American doctor from the Hopi tribe, Cheveyo, is treating patients for CoVID-19.

Cheveyo is genuinely devoted to his work, and Machakw is another Hopi doctor in the same hospital.

Istaqa is a Hopi teenage girl who is the 15-year-old sister of Cheveyo. Istaqa was in school studying & learning like ordinary teenagers do until she suddenly started gasping for air,

Istaqa was grabbing her throat, trying to breathe and the Hopi teacher, Ms. Kele, noticed. Ms. Kele immediately called 911, and paramedics rushed Istaqa to the hospital.

No one knew what was wrong, not even Istaqa. Istaqa was perfectly healthy, it seemed, before this incident.

At the hospital, Machakw diagnosed her with Asthma and was a pulmonologist.

A pulmonologist is a physician who specializes in the respiratory system. From the windpipe to the lungs, if your complaint involves the lungs or any part of the respiratory system, a pulmonologist is the doc you want to solve the problem. Pulmonology is a medical field of study within internal medicine.

Cheveyo ran to her aid as he was a doctor and insisted he treats her. Not many knew she was his little sister, mainly because Cheveyo wanted to keep treating her as his patient. It was their little secret.

Diseases commonly evaluated and treated by pulmonologists include Asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD), emphysema, lung cancer, interstitial and occupational lung diseases, and complex lung and pleural infections, including tuberculosis, pulmonary hypertension, and cystic fibrosis.

Cheveyo was a pulmonologist as well. Cheveyo is illegally her primary doctor in these cases, but his friend on the job, Machakw, often took over when he could not.

Machakw says to him, "You have another patient; I'll take care of Istaqa." To which Cheveyo replied, "Fine." Then went to work on another patient.

Machakw prescribed Theophylline, used to treat lung diseases such as asthma and COPD (bronchitis, emphysema). Istaqa must regularly use Theophylline to prevent wheezing and shortness of breath.

Machakw began to chat with Istaqa for a bit, and he liked her a lot. She was very friendly, and then she went home with her parents.

The next day, Machakw called her parents and asked if he could come. They agreed because he was her doctor and thought he was making a house call. Doctors do not typically do this.

Machakw went looking for Istaqa & found her, and Cheveyo was at work as he had gotten paged.

Machakw began chatting with her, and he wanted her to like him.

Machakw just thought it'd be amazing.

Machakw was 56. Cheveyo was 45.

Machakw bought her things and spent unusual amounts of time with the teen until one day, at an ice cream parlor, the teen told him, "I don't think this will work out. I'm too young."

Then she walked back home with her strawberry ice cream.

Machakw was so angry that he crushed his matching strawberry ice cream.
