Jealousy

Mizuki had finished her speech about the children's hospital and thanked all the guest for buying their plates at the event. Once she finished she sat down and the room began to fill with chatter as servers walked around placing dishes in front of each guest. Meredith was looking around the table she was at with a polite smile. She didn't know anyone there except Edward Brayden and Mizuki.

Mizuki sat in the empty chair next to Brayden and Meredith knew the seating arrangement was not a random coincidence. Mizuki smiled at the person to her right and said something then smiled politely at the table before turning to Brayden.

"I was beginning to think you weren't going to show up." Meredith heard Mizuki say to Brayden. Then she added with a sarcastic chuckle, "You get married and suddenly you start showing up to events late."

Before Meredith could hear Brayden's response Edward interrupted her eavesdropping as he was doing his own eavesdropping.
