"Y...you can't just say that!" I exclaimed. I couldn't stop my voice from quivering as my heart beat erratically.
He brushed hair away from my face and stroked my cheek. "What?"
"You can't just say you love me," I said hoarsely.
He leaned over and brushed his lips over my earlobe. "Why can't I say I love you?"
"Because!" I gasped as he kissed my neck. "Because you don't actually love me."
"Is that so? And how did you come to that conclusion, Mia Cara?" he asked as he smiled at me devilishly.
"I know you don't love me because... because..." I stammered, trying to find an answer but I had none.
He raised an eyebrow, his dark eyes twinkling with amusement. "Because what?"
"I don't know," I replied weakly.
