The Northern Square

Some people had it at the last meet with the mysterious being but yet I'm still curious about it all. The systems will definitely give most people a fighting chance but it doesn't help for a lot of scenarios either.

The area around the square seemed to have man made barricades but I don't know how well that'll do against certain mobs. Actually, enemies in general are going to be a lot different with how each attacks.

Mobs aren't the only enemies either, everyone is technically an enemy in this world. Fighting against one another for survival of the fittest.

But as I approached the square I noticed that police officers were here fighting too, it seems everyone is trying to help fight back for those who can't.

"You there, it seems you've made it here safely." A mysterious person says.

Before I interact with this person I need to see my rewards from earlier.

!Reward available! Skill Available!

{Reward}

• You've been given the blade of Zendal (A Tier Weapon!)

•Blacksmith Skill Tier 1 Granted!

I'll take it but that's not something I've seen in the game before. That will definitely help with the current issues at hand since I can probably make some good money from it.

"Yeah, and who's asking?" I try to question respectfully.

"A being who will be on your side. I offer advice and items." The mysterious person says.

Sounds a lot like the keepers in the game who offered assistance through various different methods. Shop items, advice on quests, and more.

Most people pass them over because they ask for money in exchange but that's normal for someone like them. Some are wise enough to utilize them to their advantage.

"I don't even think I have anything to offer at the moment." I say while checking my system.

It should work.

{Balance}

Zethel = 0

"First times free." The Being says.

"What do you offer then?" I question while staring at the being.

It was a lot similar to the one from the sky but in human size. Its voice was also crystal clear to understand which was surprising considering how it looked.

The face was almost blocked by something odd, like a mask made from a mist.

"Advice, a plethora of potions, and of course I occasionally have weapons." The being says.

Suddenly a menu opened up before me.

"Would you like to view?"

Yes <---

or

No

(??? Shop)

~Two are free!

•Health Potion (Heals Some Wounds) = 0 Zethel

•Slow Down Potion (Slows everything down for 20 seconds) = 0 Zethel

• Mana Potion (Restores a small amount of Mana) = 0 Zethel

• Reinforced Trench Coat of Denzil (S Tier Armor, provided a substantial amount of physical and magical protection) = 0 Zethel

~Or Advice on the next two quests! Free of charge.

The obvious choice was to go for the the trench coat and Slow down Potion. So just like in the game I selected both of them and before my eyes he pulled them out from nowhere.

As I grabbed them from him, the potion disappeared and I put on the trench coat. I feel like a different person after putting this on but it's definitely quite nice.

An all black trench coat with special modifications for protection against a decent bit of both physical and magical damage. I got a decent start so far but did I complete this quest?

~Quest Complete, You've made it to the northern Square. You've been given 10,000 Zethel as a reward, and 200 experience.

Seems I'm slowly building up some money but I'll have to be smart with it so I can make it through everything. That experience also didn't get me as close to leveling up this time so it seems it does work a lot like the game.

I looked at my menu once more and noticed that there was a level tracker.

{300 Experience Out of 1000}

Not bad, so I guess I do get experience outside of quests as well still which is good. That was something I was worried about originally.

"Pleasure doing business, I'll see you again soon." The being says before disappearing.

I'll definitely see it again but everything is slowly coming together for me. This world is quite the living hell for those who don't know what's going on.

I still barely understand it but I am seeing a lot of similar things from the game I played. The people who got systems will be the best shot at keeping people safe.

But I don't think they are all the same kind of system. Leveling still seems to matter with each system though since it mentioned I was the first to reach this level.

"Hey kid you should get behind the barricades." A police officer says while looking behind me.

"Will this be the safe place for people?" I question while fixing my coat.

"That's what we're trying for." He says while drawing his gun.

"Then I need to bring my mother here." I reply while quickly turning around.

Before he could say anything further I heard him firing off his pistol at the undead rushing towards us. I see an opportunity to gain more experience on the way home so this is perfect.

{Inventory}

• The blade of Zendal (A Tier Weapon)<--

• Slow Down Potion (Slows Everything down for 20 seconds)

Immediately a sword appeared within my hands and the blade was definitely nice. It had an amazing amount of carving detail in it, along with the unique hilt.

But the sword wasn't heavy and seemed like it would be perfect for this occasion. So immediately I rushed to the side of the horde, away from where the cop was shooting.

I began slashing away at the enemies before me as I slowly made my way back to the house. Blood splattered across the pavement as I continued onward.

The sword killed most of the mobs with ease and I gained quite a bit of experience by the time I was able to see my house.

{989 Experience Out of 1000}

Close, I did kill quite a bit of them just to get here. Damn.
