The Fifth Gate Awaits

Pain was all I felt for a few minutes before I could finally stand up.

Rika was looking at me as I stood up with a worried expression on her face. "Are you okay?" She questioned with concern in her voice.

"Yeah, just a bit of pain from the new system update." I respond while looking at the dead titan.

The gate was behind the body but I still couldn't help but think that I need to get stronger and stronger. Leveling till I'm no longer able to be stopped.

This gate could help me with that exact issue.

"As long as you're okay now. Dummy, making me worry so much." Rika says as she pours for a moment.

Points need to be used, worry needs to go away, and I need to grab my weapons from off the ground.

"I'm sorry for worrying you but everything is okay now. Let's check out the gate." I say with a bit of a serious tone.

Elizabeth then walked over and gave me a quick glance up and down. "You don't seem injured anymore. Another chance huh?" She questions while staring at me.

I forgot that she used to be my system manager before so she probably knows a lot about it this stuff.

"Yeah." I reply.

There wasn't much to ask her yet since we needed to clear this gate out before anything else. Kallista and Onyx are dealing with the other gate so this is up to us.

"Makes sense, we should go." Elizabeth suggests while making her way over towards the gate.

No one had any objections to this so we all followed behind her towards the gate. Just like before it stood tall with all the different engravings across it.

We'll have to see what awaits us inside the gate this time.

I picked up my weapons along the walk and watched as the gate began to open.

[Key has been used!]

I was wondering if I was going to have to pull the key out myself or not but instead it just used it without me doing anything. But it's time to see the inside of the gate.

"Everyone ready for this?" I ask while holding one of my swords.

I'm going to level as much as possible before finding this boss.

"Yes." The both of them agreed before letting me take the lead.

So I walked through the gate just like any other time except this time everything began to form before us in an instant. Land, trees, buildings, and some people.

Something was off about this whole gate from the moment we entered but now I'm not sure how to approach.

"It wasn't this instant last time right?" Elizabeth questions with a bit of confusion in her voice.

"I don't think it was." I respond while gripping my sword tighter.

Within moments of observing the scenery I could see a bunch of what appeared to be goblins rushing in on the town before us. I see people there, what's going on?

"We can't just stand here. Those goblins will kill everyone here." Rika says while running past us.

Goblins are always depicted different in each story but these are seeming like the ones you'd expect them to be. The ones who will make play things out of people and kill everyone else.

"Right behind you!" I shout while running behind her.

Immediately I felt my speed increase as I ran past Rika towards the goblins. It seems the system manager wasn't joking about everything being better.

Without any hesitation I began to slash my sword down as I reached the first group of goblins. Blood spilling all over the place, but that didn't bother me none.

My mind was made up from the time I was about to die after the fight with the titan. I'm going to become so strong that no one will be able to stop me or make anyone worry about me again.

Die. Level. Die. Level. Die.

I'm going to save everyone from the chaos caused by the monarch.

After a few minutes it was all over, blood from the goblins covered the grass. I don't think I've encountered goblins until now but I don't feel bad about killing them.

There's really not much that I've felt bad about killing since everything started which most people would think is bad. Maybe I'm numb to it now or because they aren't human it makes it easier.

"I don't see anymore of them. That upgrade really helped out huh?" Elizabeth says while observing the dead goblins all over.

I should invest my points sometime soon, I've racked up quite a bit of them at this point.

"Yeah it definitely helps." I respond while wiping the blood off my sword.

Seems like a pretty good change so I'll have to see how much the bonuses changed later on.

I'm sure I'll notice the differences either way.

"I'm still confused on why people are actually here and why a town is under attack by goblins." Rika says with a bit of confusion in her voice.

"Probably the work from the current gate boss." I respond while sheathing my sword.

I'm not sure if the gate boss would do something like that but I can't say it's surprising since the mimic changed a lot of things in the other gate.

"The Mimic did the same thing. It's odd but somehow it seems a lot different from what the mimic did." Elizabeth mentions.
