A Quick Spar Session

"Hey, guys." Luz arrived with her usual excited smile but a different look. She had cut her hair short into a rough pixie style with bangs at her forehead. She also sported a purple shirt with a bubble design along with black shorts and blue boots. On her neck was a golden necklace.

Luz was the one who had style the girls' new looks as she thought it would be cool to look different and she did it well.

"Umm, Arina." Yuri walked a step forward, avoiding the Light Caster's gaze by looking at the ground. "Would you like to spar with us? Just a quick session." Yuri asked with an unusual shyness.

"Oh, okay." Arina replied to his request, a bit confused by the Shadow Caster's actions and body language.

"That's perfect." He said, a bit too excitedly and he noticed he had so he calmed himself before saying, "We'll spar over there." Yuri pointed to the large field in front of their new dormitory known as Sakuno's Dorm. No one was close to there so it was perfect.

"You ready." Ayato, Kuro and Yuri took a stance, activating their Charms and Serena, Luz and Arina followed suit.

Zake stood on the sidelines, behind him were a bunch of First Years who were interested in the fight. Zake was a chill guy so he didn't really care about their constant gossip, especially about some girls claiming to their friends that Ayato and Yuri were their boyfriends.

Zake hadn't really changes his look that much. His hair was still swept to the back but now he had a rough ponytail coming down to his neck, tied by a black band. He wore a purple jacket with a pink shirt underneath and white trousers. Zake had asked them if they were ready and they had nodded. Yuri had seen him and asked him to be their referee and he agreed.

"Fight!" Zake said, raising his hand which was in a chop down and the two teams ran forward

"Snow Casting:.." Kuro executed the Spell as he raised his hand into the air silently which was how he had decided to be casting Spells from now on, silent and deadly.

"Tundra God's Sword!" Glacier appeared and formed into a blade with a body, a sword. Kuro targeted the closest person to him, that being Luz.

Luz in reaction also casted a Spell but in the exact opposite way Kuro did, "Picture Casting: Opposed Creation!!" She said with an excited smile. Luz was always excited whenever she was in battle or trying new things, like her favorite teacher Kento, she liked to see when different magic types reacted together. The worst battle she could possible was see was against two people with the same magic types.

Nevertheless, her Spell was created and a blue frame resembling her Frame Work appeared on her left side, close to her head. Out from the frame, a look alike of the sword Kuro had just created had appeared with the sword being made of fire instead.

The Fire Sword struck against the ice one and dispersed the ice one into nothing and now was heading for Kuro's head.

Kuro's eyes laid on the fire but he snapped out if it as he activated another Spell.

"Snow Casting: Snow Golem." The small, four feet golems with round edged triangle-shaped heads appeared and grabbed the sword, freezing it and turning it into snow.

"Whoa! That's kinda cool." Luz said, admiring Kuro's Spell and the latter just used his hand to rub his head, embarrassed by her compliment.

Using this opportunity, Luz ran towards him and threw out Past Encounter but he ducked in time in a position that looked like he was performing pull-ups.

"Don't let your guard down." Luz told him as she threw a punch but he grabbed it with ease. He didn't expect for her to kick his side which she did and knocked the breath out of him

"Baka." Luz whispered under her breath as she continued the fight.

"Hah!" Ayato shouted as she used one of his Basic Spells which was setting fire on his fists which was much more powerful since he had levelled up once. He was also wearing a red mask with black gems shaped like flames, this was his Charm.

He ran towards Serena with speed and threw a punch at her. The punch didn't hit her but an obstacle had stopped it.

"Protective Chamber." A circular, metallic chamber made of magic appeared around the blue-haired Caster and prevented Ayato's attacks from getting through.

"Nice try. Ring of Fire." One of the gems on his mask gave a shimmer as a circle of fire manifested around Ayato's body. It was so thick and constantly spinning at an incredible rate. His attack had managed to break through her Protective Chamber by burning through it, turning her Spell into white squares which quickly disassembled.

"Metal Whip." Serena had quickly formed it in her hand and had attempted to lash Ayato's face but he had raised up his arm and blocked it.

"Ah!" It still hurt him but he bared it.

Serena threw a strike with the metal whip again but this time Ayato had reacted in time. The Fire Caster grabbed the Metal Whip in his clenched fist and had used his strength to throw the whip into the air, causing Serena to fly up with it.

"Mech Casting: Speed Suit!" Serena activated the Spell that gave her a 25% increase in speed and agility. She had also disabled the Metal Whip which had caught Ayato by surprise.

She jumped down to the ground and ran towards him.

"Burn Shield." Ayato pulled out his arms in a blocking position and suddenly, solid fire that was constantly moving in flames had appeared in front of his arms, getting ready to block off Serena's punch.

But the attack never came, when Serena had gotten close enough, she changed her trajectory and began to run around Ayato in a circle, moving so fast he could only see a silver blur move around.

Serena ran towards him again and Ayato had turned to block her attack but she had changed her trajectory again.

'She's good, I don't have the brains to keep up with her but maybe I have the fire power.' The Fire Caster thought to himself.

"Demon Ability: Demon-Crafted Sword." Casters and Demons didn't really need to say their attacks since it wasn't really important compared to Seraphs who needed to, especially the less experienced ones. But they felt adrenaline rush through their body whenever they called out their Spell like a battle cry or even just whisper it silently.

Nevertheless, Yuri had formed the large pure black sword with an even larger and sharper blade as he ran towards his opponent, Arina. Luckily for Yuri, Demons didn't have Charms so when he used a demon ability, it wouldn't appear and since this particular one was black, one might just think this was a regular Spell. That was if someone even knew his Casting Magic.

"Light Casting: Sceptre of the Heavens!" Arina formed the golden sceptre in her right hand after saying those words.

She stood in one place trying to aim for Yuri who was running towards her. She pointed the Sceptre when she thought he was close enough for her to reach.

"Release!" A straight ray of golden magic was released towards the Shadow Caster with Arina still holding it with just one hand.

Yuri twisted the hilt of the Sword, making the blade to face the attack head on. When it did, the ray of magic had been split into two parts, with neither of them laying a finger on him.

In response, Arina increased the amount of magic she was using but made sure to not over do it.

The amount of magic she had added to her attack had put a strain on Yuri who was trying to block the attack and tried pushing the blade forward into the attack to counter it but it wasn't working.

Unbeknownst to them, Luz, Kuro, Ayato and Serena had stopped their fighting to get out of the way but also because, they were interested to see how it would turn out.

Without any more force applied on Arina's part, Yuri's sword had been disintegrated into dust and the remainder of the magic blast had hit him, causing him to fall to the ground.

Arina walked up to him and tapped him with the sceptre, feeling guilty for hurting him even if he was only bruised and burnt slightly on his wrist.

"Are you.." Arina wanted to ask but was interrputed by a loud applause that came from the First Years that had been watching their battle.

"Arina's team wins!" Zake quickly said when he realized he had forgot to announce it.

Iris, Cris' younger sister and also a healer ran out of the crowd to quickly treat Yuri.

"Mending Casting: Internal Remedy!" She said, a lavendar light leaving her hand and entering Yuri's body.

Quickly, he had healed and even his clothes had been repaired.

"Thank you again, Iris." Yuri said, remembering before she had healed him back at the Krueger Base.

"It's my pleasure." Iris said, a cute smile playing on her face.

"I'm fine, Arina. Kuro, Ayato, let's go to our dormitory." Yuri said, walking away in disappointment in himself.

'She's gotten stronger than me. How am I supposed to..' Yuri's thoughts were interrupted as he arrived at his dorm with Kuro and Ayato.
