CHAPTER 66

A/N

I'm finally free from conjunctivitis, I'll see if I'm able to make up for the days lost

__________

[JENNA'S PERSPECTIVE]

"ROARRR!"

"Come out and face us, humans!" A loud voice boomed.

My eardrums almost burst open from the sudden roar and booming voice that assaulted them. In anger, I walked out of the cave and stood in front of the beast that made that sound. I don't know what kind of beast I was expecting to see, but seeing this one disappointed me. It was just an overgrown kitty with a flaming mane, tail, and a weird color scheme—nothing much.

If I were to describe it, I would say it was a lion in dark mode.

"Didn't you know people were in there? Why the hell did you have to shout like that?" I questioned angrily.

The lion didn't reply and just stared dumbly into space like a lost lamb questioning its existence. Even the flames on its body seemed to dim.

Is this guy ignoring me on purpose?

"Hey, you there... yes, you... the one hiding in his shadows. " I called out, pointing to a the figure hiding in the lion's shadow "Who else do you think I'm pointing at?" I shouted.

Seconds later, the lion's shadow expanded, and a black-furred lioness came out. The lioness looked at me with cold eyes filled with murderous intent, which I ignored, of course.

I could pretty much guess her thoughts, but I didn't really care. After hours of fighting with that demonic lolli, if I couldn't notice someone with such subpar talent hiding in the shadows, then I should rather be fed to the beasts.

"Err, what's wrong with your..."

"Husband."

"Yeah, your husband. I totally knew that."

The eyes of the lion seemed to regain clarity at that moment as he looked at me with murderous intent.

"Child, how dare you disrespect this king," he roared.

"Pa, what king? Weren't you the one who came shouting first? And I'll also have you know that I'm the princess of an empire. So your insignificant kingship means nothing in my eyes."

The lion completely disregarded my question. Instead, he raised his fiery mane and let out a deafening roar, commanding his army of beasts to attack. The ground beneath us trembled as a horde of creatures, ranging from wolves with flaming fur to shadowy serpents, surged forward.

The beasts began to charge at us, but unlike the rowdy charge one would expect these ones were quite orderly. They divided themselves into groups, the ones with long ranged attacks stayed behind, the most shadow and poison attribute beasts coordinated to attack Janet, beasts with high physical defense and strength went for Draxus, and those with lightning and lightning resistance came for me.

Without wasting a moment, I channeled my mana. Lightning coursed through my veins, enhancing my speed, strength, and reflexes. In the blink of an eye, I was in the midst of the chaos, moving with the agility of a thunderbolt. My fists crackled with electricity as I struck down a fiery wolf, sending sparks flying in all directions.

Janet also didn't waste time, she danced through the chaos, her blades coated in a deadly poison and a poisonous mist filoowing behind her. She dispatched some shadowy serpents with precision, leaving them writhing on the ground. Her movements were so fluid that one would thing her fight was choreographed.

Draxus, on the other hand, engaged the enemy with his expert swordsmanship. He parried multiple claw attack and threw his daggers with lethal accuracy. His weapons glinted in the chaotic light of the battlefield as he held his ground against the advancing creatures.

As we fought, the lion and lioness didn't just stand there. They also exhibited their own formidable abilities. The lion occasionally conjured flames that engulfed the battleground, forcing us to maneuver through the scorching inferno. Janet and I used our agility to dodge the fiery onslaught, while Draxus relied on his quick reflexes to stay unscathed.

The lioness, with her shadow manipulation, added a layer of complexity to the battle. She created shifting patches of darkness that concealed her allies, making it challenging to predict their movements on the battlefield. We had to rely on our instincts had to rely on our instincts to detect their hidden strikes.

The battle raged on for hours, we had already killed and disabled hundreds of beasts but we also didn't come out unscathed. Times like this make me miss my avatar body, we were covered in wounds from head to toe but that didn't stop us, we all used our own methods to reduce the pain and stop the bleeding.

I unleashed a torrent of lightning bolts, striking down several foes in quick succession. Janet's poisoned blades claimed more victims, their forms twisting in agony as the venom took hold. Draxus's precision strikes began to thin the enemy's ranks.

ROOOOOAAAAARRRR!

The lion's roar caused the everyone on the battlefield to stop what they were doing and turn to it.

STEP!

The lion took a step forward, it was time for it's appearance on the battlefield
