Chapter 44 Drakon Slaying

The drakons were ecstatic as they watched the moon rise up in the sky, after centuries of waiting they are finally at the time when their brethren will be able to come back to this world . This time they will not be held back by the dragons or any of the ancient beings that have passed away due to time.

"LOOK AT THE TIME MY CHILDREN" the biggest drakon hissed "WITHIN A FEW HOURSSSS OUR BRETHREN SSSSHALL COME TO USSSS AND FEASSST UPON THIS WORLD WHERE NOTHING CAN SSSSSTOP USSSS NOWWW"

As the drakons were celebrating their future victory the ones who had come to hunt them were sharpening our weapons

"Will this work Karna?" one of the S class wizards asked while Karna was imprinting the Drakon slayer mark on him

" yes it will, the mark essentially works as a filter for drakon magic. After activating the mark for a few hours all the magic that is used by the wizard with the mark is essentially converted into the signature similar to the drakons

Basically, if you use any elemental or composite magic it is converted into Drakon magic essentially making them drakon slayer magic capable of causing harm to the Drakons "

"that's good" the wizard let out a nervous sigh

In a way all of us were nervous including me as well. We were at a distance from the outpost that we were able to feel the magic emitted by the drakons ,our only chance at beating them is using the element of surprise

The drakons who had seen the life of wizards for centuries will not expect drakon slayer magic to exist and using terrain altering magic along with the domes will severely dampen their power

"all right everybody knows the plan right" I reminded everyone " as soon as the domes are formed target their wings and their eyes along with their nose so that even if the dome breaks later they will be unable to fly as well as use their enhanced sense of smell or their eyes "

I was able to make a plan from the system's information of them being similar to reptiles so their sense of smell and eyesight is higher than normal and seeing that they think of me as a genius they quickly accepted it. The plan being simple and effective also helped in this as well.

"the mark will last for a few hours after activation and it is also made in a way that it will disappear 30 minutes before it stops" I warned the wizards according to how much magic I had imputed into the mark

The wizards began preparing as in a few minutes the portal will open and we are supposed to strike just before it opens and make sure that they are not able to make another magic circle for the duration of the next hour so there is more than enough duration in the mark to complete the mission

We had tested Cana's new move a few times during the travel a few hours back on s class beasts and we had found that it effects even them and is a quite lethal move but that alone would make it hard for her to survive the onslaught of the strongest drakon that Gildarts and I will be battling so I made sure to give her all of my talismans for protection her duty will be to use card magic from a distance as her crush magic requires close combat right now altering it for long range will be hard right now

"are you all ready " Jura asked in a deep voice "tell me when it begins Karna"

I nodded and looked towards the direction of the palace of Fiore waiting for the time when the eclipse gate opens as I am sure that Layla will open it just before the time if I am correct

After a few seconds I saw a bright light go straight towards the sky and separate into 6 different directions. The ends of my mouth curled slightly, the dragonslayers are here after travelling through 400 years in time.

At that time a small spark started to rise up from the magic circle of the Drakons

"JURA NOW" I shouted out while making an arrow and imbuing it with drakon slayer magic with darkness 

Hearing the sound suddenly the Drakon leader turned around we had made sure to rub our body with a few redwood leaves so as to mask our scent so this was a surprize

Jura immediately used his terrain magic to destroy the floor in which the magic circle was written the spark and the light that came from the magic circle immediately disappeared making the entire magic circle obsolete

"HOWW DARE-"the drakon leader was about to shout but was suddenly hit with an arrow filled with drakon slayer magic and darkness

I made my sharingan move at hyperdrive increasing my perception to the highest level because of which I was also able to shoot out four more of the similar arrows towards the other Drakons essentially making them blind for a few seconds since their magic energy is powerful enough to brush the effects off but the drakon slayer attribute will make them concentrate their power to remove it earning us the extra seconds Jura needs to cast his dome

"I wish you all the best of luck " calmly said Jura while he used the terrain to separate the Drakons and trap them inside a dome each

"let's go" I said and all the wizards separated into teams of threes and jumped inside the dome

I jumped in the dome belonging to the biggest along with Cana and Gildarts

"HOW DARE YOUUU YOU VERMIN" as expected the leader drakon managed to remove the debuff effect the fastest among them all

"GET OUT OF MY WAY" looks like the leader knew the priority was to redraw the magic circle to restart the portal

"not so fast" suddenly Gildarts punched him with a large cluster of crush magic

I was able to see that he had activated his mark as it made an aura of white coloured energy around him as others using the mark will not be able to get drakon force similar to mine and only will be able to emit an aura 

One hour , that was the window in which enough ethernano will be there in the atmosphere so all three of us knew our aim and we tried our best to do it

Gildarts was in the frontline smashing crush magic again and again using punches which can be said to be slow but each punch carried a vast amount of magical energy Cana used the talismans along with her card magic to strike again and again from a distance she also used buffing magic on us and de buffing on the drakon as well

My job was to continuously shoot arrows imbued with drakon slayer magic at the eyes nose and wings of the drakon

The fight was intense for every second of that long hour

Cana was becoming slower as even with the talisman boosting her speed her excessive use of magic and physical exhaustion caught up with her. Gildarts was still going full force as the slower punches was a style he uses to conserve stamina and his magical level was humongous enough that even those punches that can take me out in one hit can be used by him for hours

As the minutes ticked by even I was feeling tired even if I had the stamina to shoot arrows for hours the ones I am shooting now contained drakon slayer magic and I had injected more and more magic to strengthen it as well making it harder to shoot I even felt like loosing the feelings in my fingers every time I pulled the drawstring of the bow

And finally the hour was over denying the chance for the drakons to make another magic circle again for maybe a few centuries

"NOOOOOOOOOO" screamed the leader drakon knowing that they lost the chance to bring their brethren into this world

I looked at the Drakon's condition one of its wings were completely destroyed its both eyes blinded and its nose torn and burn marks inside it was clearly visible it also had many serious wounds around its entire body because of the battle

Gildarts was still standing similar to the state at the beginning and didn't even look winded he looked as if it was a warm up with a few damp patches showing that he only sweated a little

I looked at Cana and found out that she was taking deep breaths and was kneeling on the ground completely exhausted and I didn't look any better my arms were bleeding at their fingers and my nose was also bleeding because I was keeping myself extremely concentrated in shooting of the arrows at the drakon

"HOW COULD THISS BEEE ….. WE FAILLED TO YOU INFERIOIR SPECIES" because of the wounds on its face it was not even able to speak properly

"EVEN IF I DIE" it continued ominously

Shit

"I WILL TAKE YOU ALL WITH MEEEEE" the creature shouted and a large energy blast rushed out from him

My armour activated immediately and protected me when I opened my eyes I saw Gildarts with lot of injuries but alive he was on the ground but a rune symbol appeared in front of guarding him from further harm

Then I looked back at Cana quickly

She was barely moving an arm and a leg blasted off. Seeing that shook me to the core but I snapped out of it fast and ran near her

"Cana" Gildarts called softly but was not able to get up

I held her up, her breath was shallow and almost non existing but she still had a heartbeat. I took out the horse talisman and used it on her

It glowed brightly and covered Cana completely and it subsided leaving Cana completely healed of all injuries but a side of her hair did not survive

And just as I thought everything was over suddenly I heard a voice

"YOU ARE NOT GONNA SURVIVE FOOL IT IS NOT OVER YET"

The moment I heard the voice I turned around quicky and found out the drakon had not died and it seemed to be glowing in a greenish hue, instincts told me its going to explode again but this time a bigger one taking itself out as well

I activated my sharingan and injected as much magic as I can, suddenly my perception increased by many amounts almost making it look like the time has stopped but it also took it toll as I felt like the blood vessels of my eyes are almost popping along with the strain on my brain but I disregarded it as right now if I don't solve this chances of me surviving are low

I looked towards Gildarts and found out that the rune is still glowing he might be wounded physically but he still got a large amount of magic left in him so he will survive even without my intervention

I looked towards Cana, she had no defences and I also used the horse talisman, and if the explosion is bigger this time she might not survive the 24 hours it takes to recharge

My armour still had a lot of energy but it will only protect me

Or maybe it protects only one person

I summon my armour I remembered the mythology in which Karna was able to remove his as well. I summoned an arrow and brought it near my neck where it can be pried apart

"AAAAAAHHHHHH"

It was the most painfullest moment in my life, even the werewolf bite nor the magic flow punch caused this much pain , my skin was being ripped out

After taking out the armour I was able to see most of my flesh but they were all surface wounds and can be healed later

 I tried to put the armour on Cana and I found out it was not sticking and it seemed to lose its glow

I can feel the drakon about to explode I was losing time and fast then it hit me I took the arrow again used the arrow head as a dagger and cut my earlobes where my sun earrings were fused since birth. I was in too much pain by now so it did not feel much

I cut out the earring and put in in Cana's ears and suddenly the armour began to glow and combine with Cana sticking into her skin like it did once mine

Suddenly Cana opened her eyes looks like the horse talisman works well

"Karna what's happening , why do I have your armour" Cana asked all confused

I held the sides of her face and looked into her eyes I knew what I needed to say and do

"I love you Cana. Thank you for everything you have done for me all these years make sure to live well"

Cana's eyes went wide

"wait Karn-" but I didn't let her finish I striked the centre of the armour with magic essentially activating its defence and I pushed her away 

Then I turned towards the mass of ethernano in the explosion about to reach me and I pulled the last card with me

I put as much magic as I can in the drakon slayer fragment with all the intense emotions I ever felt

I can fell the scales grow but they were very slow not enough time

And everything went white
