CH 38: TEST OF RESOLVE

ELENA'S POV

The hospital room was quiet, the only sound being the soft beeping of the machines monitoring my condition. I was still processing everything that had happened when suddenly, chaos erupted.

A loud bang shattered the calm, and I looked up to see Gabriel clutching his hand, blood oozing between his fingers. My heart raced, and without thinking, I jumped up from my bed and rushed to his side.

"Gabriel!" I screamed, my voice trembling with panic. "Oh my God, Gabriel, what happened?"

He looked up at me, his face contorted with pain. "Elena," he muttered, trying to stay composed.

I could feel tears streaming down my face. "Stay with me, Gabriel! Someone help!" I yelled, my voice breaking.

A nurse rushed in, her eyes widening at the sight of Gabriel's injury. "What happened?" she asked, quickly moving to assist.

"He was shot," I cried, pressing a towel against his wound to stem the bleeding. "Please, help him!"
