Chapter-9 The Longing for Each Other

While entering the hostel's porch area, Samantha noticed someone was there by the car. After seeing it carefully, I saw that it was Alvin's car.

She jittered for a second, then composed herself and checked her clothes to see if they revealed much. Correcting her hair with her thin fingers, she stepped toward him slowly. Alvin just stood there, looking at her with a flat face.

She checked her cheeks to see if they were not heating up much.

"Alvin." She reached to him and maintained a decent distance.

Alvin kept staring at her without saying anything, only changing his standing position from left to right.

Hiding her anxiety, she asked.

"What brings you here? It's very late. You should be at home." She tried to touch his arm but dared not look into his eyes.

"I should be the one asking you the same." He taunted.

His statement forced her to leave his arm. She felt pain in her heart. So many things had happened with her today, and she was at the point of breaking. Her eyes were cast down. Sadness and loneliness hovered. She wanted to show them to him. She tried to hug him tight and cry her heart out.

But she has to hold up everything inside her. She has many things at stake, and telling him everything could ruin everything.

Tears clouded her vision, but she quickly pushed them back and sniffed slightly.

"I am tired, Alvin; you should leave too." By saying that, she turned to leave but quickly felt a yank in her right arm.

"Hold on," Alvin stepped close to her.

She didn't retaliate. She was longing for the love and comfortable embrace he used to give her earlier.

"Where you were today?" He asked again, looking at her back.

He loosed his grip on her arm and put her hands back in his overcoat's pockets. He waited for her to answer, but she didn't buzz.

Standing still at the place, Samantha thought of many excuses. Her mother's dying face flashed in her eyes again and again, and Derek and Martin's murky deals echoed in her ears.

She felt a pain in her head and quickly closed her temples.

"Samantha, I demand an answer." He asked again when there were no words from her side.

When she didn't reach any choice of words, she started to walk.

Alvin felt her behaviour weird and ran behind him.

"What happened to you, Sam? Why are you not listening to me?" He was hell-annoyed by her attitude toward him now.

Hearing his gloomy voice, she stopped and turned her face, which was all red and stained with tears. She kept staring at him without saying a word.

"For God's sake, say something. Don't test my patience. What's the problem with you?" his anger was on the verge of exploding. He yelled at her.

His thudding voice shook her badly.

"You are my problem. You know what? Nothing has happened right with me since you stepped into my life. All I received was pain and sadness. I wish we had never crossed paths. That day was the biggest pain of my lifetime." She said, filled with sobs and tears.

Her heart cracked with all those words. She wanted to create a rift between them before something more disastrous happened to their relationship. She didn't want to do what Derek told her to do with him. So, she considered ending everything as soon as possible and saving him from future problems.

Alvin looked at her face and scanned her. It was like he was reading her soul. For once, his anger was about to volcanism, but when he saw her pitiful look, it subsided.

He stepped close to her and cupped her face in his palms, forcing her to look at him. Their eyes looked. For some time, they didn't say anything; they just felt each other's presence. Their breaths were heavy like dark clouds.

That night, Alvin was trying to search for her hidden pain, which she was successfully guarding.

When he first arrived there, he was angry and decided to scold and interrogate her for not picking up his phone that day. Still, when he saw her pathetic state, he forgot everything, and all he wanted was to hide her within himself, far away from this world's vulturous eyes.

"What are you doing? Leave me alone." She wiggled and tried to remove his hands from her cheeks.

Suddenly, he took her in his embrace and caressed her back lovingly. He wanted to remove all her pain and only fill her life with happiness.

"Samantha, you need not worry about anything. I am always there, standing by your side. You are everything to me." He was talking continuously while embracing her.

She found solace in his hug and wanted to stay like that forever.

"Forever." She looked up after hearing his words. Her eyes scanned his charming face, illuminating even in the dim moonlight.

She could find his loyalty, compassion, and devotion for her. This feeling of his for her pierced her heart. She suddenly felt unworthy of it.

She kissed him on his soft lips. She filled this with only love and no other intentions. This might be the last time she kissed him with all her heart. After that, what would happen? No one knows.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" He asked out of nowhere.

She averted her gaze and looked elsewhere.

"Because you look so handsome, and my eyes can't control staring at you. I envy them." She shyly said, still hugging him.

A grin flashed on his face.

"Then you should let them see my other beautiful parts as well." He smirked and grinned naughtily.

"You scumbag! Do you have anything else on your mind?" She pushed him by punching his chest lightly. Her cheeks turned crimson red in embarrassment. The scenes from last night flashed in her eyes, making her cheeks rosy.

"I want you forever by my side." He kissed her lips softly and held her face in his giant palms.

Holding her racing heart, she removed his hand.

"I love you, Alvin. My heart beats for you only. And always do remember, there is always a reason if I made any mistake." After saying this, she left him in a daze, trying to pursue the meaning of her words.

Alvin looked at her retiring figure and got confused about why she said those words out of the blue.

Once she entered the hostel and her room's lights turned on after a few moments, he decided to leave, too.

When he turned to open the car door, he heard a rustling voice of bushes and turned immediately towards the source of its origin. He chased over there, but no one was found.
