Chapter 11 Such dark thoughts against a woman from a conglomerate boss!

The doctor kept clearing his throat for the umpteenth time, is there something wrong with Lena?

"Doctor, this...."

"The young lady in question is six weeks pregnant and abortion is not an option".

Olivia froze in her seat, so this is the end of the game right?

Lena couldn't handle the other blow given to her later on.

The news started making rounds and Helena couldn't attend her lectures or go out. She had to disguise so much before she could get something outside to eat.

" Come down", the voice made her heart skip a beat. It's been such a long time and the effect was still the same.

She took the elevator and flew into his embrace or rather forced embrace.

Brian kept giving her a disdainful look.

"How could you be so naive and foolish?"

"You heard the good news? Our baby is right here". Lena touched her flat belly and smiled with dreamy eyes.

" This is reality, wake up. You know what? It won't work between the both of us and start getting it now".

"This is our baby we are talking about. How could you be so callous?"

"Get this straight, I am not falling for you neither is this a drama. It was just a...."

"Bet", a slutty looking girl came out of the car Brian was leaning on. She gave Lena a thorough look and shook her head.

" Brian.... you are so evil. You like them young, naive and fresh. She is just in her sophomore year", she said coquettishly.

Fireworks went off in Lena's head, what bet?

"You...." she pointed at the lady.

" What? Brian, you didn't tell her that you had a bet with your friends to hook up with the nerdy girl and if you succeed you get this car", the girl slammed her hands on the car.

in a crazy manner. Lena looked closely and realized that it was a new car and a not cheap model.

She staggered backwards. This was too much for her.

"We are not done", she threw a cheque at Lena. " That's for the abortion, make it quick. Else you will lose it horrendously", the lady blew her bubble gum onto Lena's face provocatively.

The Lawsons' got hold of the news, as a prestigious family they needed to retain their dignity so a whirlwind and forced marriage came up. Williams Lawson wanted her to become his daughter Inlaw but Fiona gave her cold shoulders. They cooked up stories for the media about love at first sight and Brian picking up his Cinderella.

Brian's old lovers tormented her life and appeared almost everywhere she went. She had to become a stay-at-home mom.

After the marriage ceremony, every happy facade between them vanished. Brian would come home when he felt he had missed his parents.

Helena vowed within her that Xavier would never go into a loveless marriage. If this Ava is the one his heart yearns for, then she would allow him to be with her.

Ava had made all the arrangements for the surgery and her grandma was about to be pushed into the theatre when Xavier appeared by the corridor.

Ava's eyes widened, how did he find her here so quickly? She had covered her track and diverted those people. Xavier took a closer look at her and her face was so beautiful. So she doesn't look terrible. He immediately glared at the doctor who kept looking at her. His possessive mode got turned on and he preferred to enjoy the view alone.

"What are you doing here?"

"I'm taking you and your grandma out of here to the best place for the surgery".

While he was speaking, his men were already wheeling her out. Her grandma was in a critical condition and needed medical attention urgently.

" What do you know? Do you think having money is all that matters? If anything happens to my grandmother I will not let you off", her little face looked rosy.

The quick arrangement had already been made and the doctor was helpless against the large subordinates this man had. Ava insisted on staying with Maybelline in the ambulance. She kept murmuring that she would be fine and should be strong.

Lionel Jessie was already in the theatre waiting for the patient. He was already masked from head to toe with sterilized surgical gloves and a gown with a mask.

"You had better do a good job there else don't come out", Xavier threatened.

" Wow, that is deep. Calm down man", he patted his shoulder.

Ava was worried about the competency of this surgeon, she only trusted herself.

"Can I...."

"Do what?" Lionel Jessie's gaze became sharp when his gaze fell on Ava.

"Do you realize you are wasting his time which is of the essence?"

Ava never imagined that she would expose herself in this way.

" I want to be in the theatre when you do the operation", the doctors and nurses looked at her as if she had gone nuts. Lionel Jessie laughed as if he had heard the funniest joke in history.

"Let her in, she will not cause trouble. She just wants to watch".

Xavier was too simple-minded but Lionel saw Ava in a different light and knew that she might not be a simple person.

" Ok fine, let's go".

"Look after her", Xavier told Lionel and the latter simply shrugged.

The operation began in full earnest. At first, Ava wanted to join the operation team but Lionel refused. She quietly stood at the side and one hour into the operation Lionel experienced an intraoperative haemorrhage. The other doctors with him panicked because this is a very major and sensitive surgery

The patient is old and the most effective way to control it should be done. Lionel asked for a harmonic scalpel but Ava immediately objected. The other doctors who were under pressure and stressed felt like beating her up but they were afraid of the chief surgeon and a certain man outside.

" Stand aside, what do you know about surgery, a mere high school student like you shouldn't be here in the first place".

Ava gave him a demeaning look, "Lionel Jessie, 26years old Brazilian doctor thinks that using about 55,000hertz to send vibration to an old patient during cardiac surgery is the best. Now step aside and give me an aprotinin injection".

"What do you think you are doing? You think reading a few medical books is enough?"

"I know what I am doing better than you know what you are doing".

Ava said she will take responsibility for anything that will happen in case he loses the patient. The injection was brought and she immediately took the appropriate quantity she needed and injected Maybelline.

Five minutes later the bleeding gradually stopped. The doctors were amazed because this particular injection was banned within the medical profession due to the high mortality rate.

Snorted while looking at the other doctor's expressions, " you have to look out for the post-surgery effects before rejoicing".

"I will give you a chance to retract your words", Ava curled her lips.

She demanded a scalpel and Lionel gave her a second look. Wait! How did she know his name and all of that?

" The other doctors and even nurses trembled in excitement and one of them quickly gave her the scalpel. The doctor had wanted to test her intelligence just to know if her previous action was just pure luck.

"I need No 15C", she stared at the doctor who had his mouth agape.

Ava ignored them and set to work, the way she held the scalpel was like an experienced professional and her cuts were so neat and just at the perfect diameter.

Lionel gave her a double look and his eyes widened in awe of her skills.

Five hours later, the surgery was a success. Ava looked tired and worn out.

"I wish to learn more from you", he sounded and looked so demure.

Snorting, " Are you retracting your words now?"

"I...."

"Don't worry, it's good to be humble", she waved him away.

Lionel's lips twitched, as expected of Xavier's woman.

" Also, don't mention what you have seen here to that man outside, else he will know how incompetent you are".

Lionel flushed red.

"You..."

"I am just me. No room for mistakes", raised her brows arrogantly.

Good! Just good!

The exhausted-looking Ava stumbled out of the operation room, Xavier caught her and took her into his arms. He gave Lionel a freezing stare and the latter raised his hands in mock surrender.

" She insisted on helping".

"Helping?" Xavier frowned upon hearing that.

Lionel regretted babbling nonsense, "I mean helping with the errands and so on within the operation room".

" But I told you that you should not stress her out".

"Come on man, she insisted on helping. I had no choice. She should be alright after some hours of rest". He patted him on the shoulder and proceeded to enter his office.

" How did the surgery go?"

"It went well", his eyes subconsciously flickered to the woman in Xavier's hands.

Xavier left him and took Ava to an en suite bathroom. He had made arrangements for clean but light clothes.

One of the nurses cleaned Ava up. She kept gushing internally about her smooth yet supple skin. Ahe had heard about the youngest doctor who was involved in the major surgery and eventually led the team. But she is still young to gain such an experience.

Xavier had gone out to make further arrangements for Maybelline's hospital ward. He wanted a sterile and highly secured ward.

By the time he came back, he met a fairy-like woman who spread out on the bed while sleeping peacefully.

He moved closer to her and sat on the bed. Tugging her hair gently behind her ear, he covered her up to the chin level.

She is such a beauty but why would she dress herself up in ridiculous make-up and wig the last time he saw her?

And... She looked tired when she came out of the operation room, was it just his suspicion or there is more to it?

Ava stirred in her sleep and mumbled some incoherent words. She looked cute. She felt a warmth near her and she snuggled closer to him. Xavier was startled and about to jump up but he caught a whiff of her hair scent. He froze on the spot and tried to recollect the memories, he tried to patch the fragmented memories together but it wouldn't work.

Ava had climbed all over his body and was throwing her arms around him. He chuckled as an evil idea struck him. Xavier took out his phone and snapped some pictures, this would be evidence to bind her to him forever. Such dark thoughts against a woman from a conglomerate boss!
