MR BILLIONAIRE, I DON'T THINK YOU DESERVE A SECOND CHANCE

“Get your bloody self off me! After killing my son, you still have the nerves to ask for a chance to father my adopted child.” Viola struggled to loosen Leonardo's grip on her when he pinned her to the wall and asked for forgiveness and a second chance to be a father to their son after decades of being apart. At the age of fifteen, Viola vowed to do anything to save her dying mother, and lucky enough, she found refuge in the hands of Mrs. Vera Vans, who accidentally hit her on the highway. A few years down the line, Viola caught the attention of the only son and heir of the Van's family, Leonardo Vans, and they ended up happily married. Mrs. Vans despised Viola's union with her son and did everything in her power to get them divorced. Losing her parents, her marriage, and her child in the same year, Viola decided to leave the country and came back after twenty-two years with her adopted son, Nicole, to take revenge on those that tormented her life, but the sharp Leonardo was quick to discover that her adopted son is the product of their union twenty-three years ago, and he came begging for a second chance. Would Viola forgive and accept him back? Then what is the fate of his mother, who masterminded their divorce? Would Nicole easily accept him as a father, remembering the sufferings he passed through in the past? What is the fate of Leonardo's wife and her children if Viola decides to get back with him?

CHAPTER 13: GOING FOR SHOPPING

Chapter 13

"Yeah. I know you must be feeling some strange symptoms; that's why I scheduled this appointment immediately."The doctor was quite smart to know what she wanted to say before she decided to keep quiet.

"You should be feeling some symptoms like a pregnancy symptom," he added.

"Yes! You're absolutely right, doctor! That's exactly how I'm feeling!" She voiced out, surprised to see how the doctor was perfect in predicting the symptoms she was having.

"Wow! I see why my mother-in-law insisted that I don't change hospitals. She said you're the best doctor, and now I've seen for myself!" She added, with so much joy in her tone.

Dr. Brian smiled, but at the same time feels sorry for her.

"That's normal for every woman diagnosed with hepatitis. It happens when the virus is becoming weak. That means the sickness is gradually leaving your body." He explained.

"Oh! Thank you, doctor. Now I can sleep with my mind at rest."

"Yeah. Most women have always mistaken those symptoms for pregnancy, and they ended up feeling depressed when they discovered it was a different thing entirely—especially for women who are looking for the fruit of the womb." He added.

Viola appreciated him and left happily.

Doctor Brian smiled at himself when he saw how happy she was before leaving.

At last, he had succeeded in convincing her! Now, her suspicions would never go close to pregnancy again.

Before sunset, just when he was arranging to close for work that day, his phone rang.

"Hello, Mrs. Vans, please, I've done my part, so if she still doubts me, you don't have me to blame! I've warned you about this since the  beginning." He declared immediately he picked up the call.

"Calm down, Dr. Brian. You're too fast in conclusion. You should have at least waited to hear what I have to say first," she replied coldly on the other end of the phone.

"We'll. Viola got home and narrated everything to me just the way it happened. So I'm calling to tell you kudos for a great job, Weldon!"

"Ok. You can't always count on me," Doctor Brian replied.

"Because of this, I'm transferring some money to you. Keep it up!" She said and hung up the call.

Doctor Brian was happy, but a feeling in him made him to call back immediately.

"What if she later discovers that she is pregnant? You know we can't keep on succeeding in deceiving her. I'm afraid the pregnancy would soon be obvious!" He said, with so much panic in his voice.

"You don't have to worry, doctor. Leave that one to me. Before that happens, she must be somewhere that she won't even have the freedom of speech anymore." Mrs. Vans said, sounding unbothered about the doctor's fears.

Viola continued to live in deception of an illness she never had, taking drugs that she didn't need. She never ceased to appreciate her mother-in-law for her support as each day passed by; little did she know that Mrs. Vans never meant well for her.

Reading through one of her best novels, she was interrupted by a knock on the door.

"I'm overly disturbing, right?" Mrs. Vans asked casually with a smile as Viola opened the door to her.

"No, mum, It's fine. I should be the grateful one rather, for having a caring mother-in-law."

"Awww, thank you," Mrs. Vans blushed and opened her arms to embrace Viola in a hug.

"I want to get a few things at the market; would you like to go with me?" Mrs. Vans asked calmly.

Viola was reluctant to give an answer. Of course, she was not interested in going anywhere that day. But she never wants to turn her mother-in-law's request down. Besides, she is who she is because of that woman.

"Alright, mum. Let me dress right away." She assured her.

Viola joyfully assisted her mother-in-law in shopping at the supermarket.

"Sorry for stressing you, my dear. I promise I won't disturb you again for the next two months. I know you're really exhausted," Mrs. Vans said reluctantly as they moved the items bought to the car.

"Com'on, mum. Don't say that. I don't see it as a disturbance; rather, I'd say it is love! And thank you for being the best mother-in-law, mom." Viola appreciated her sincerely while they drove home.

Mrs. Vans maintained an expression of joy over her words, but her plans against Viola were entirely the opposite.

"This car following us looks familiar. It looks exactly like Mr. Smith's car," Mrs. Vans muttered. She reduced her speed to know if her assumptions were true.

"I said it. It is him," she screamed joyfully and parked her while she stepped out.

Reaching the spot where she's parked, the black Corolla also parked behind her. A tall, dark gray-haired man stepped out of the car and moved towards Mrs. Vans. Certainly, the man had also suspected it was Mrs. Van's car at his front.
