Then I came up with my first answer.
"Law?"
"Wrong answer. 2/3 chances remaining." An automated voice, that was clearly different from my savage assistant Amy, answered me.
"..."
Bruh. So, there were only three chances to guess it correctly. Why didn't this stupid system tell me before?
"It's written on top of the screen. Why are you blaming it for your carelessness?" Amy's annoyed voice echoed inside my head. I checked the screen.
Whoops. She was correct. It was written there.
However, I have to guess this correctly. I went through every verse one by one. "I hold the balance in my left, and pen on my right" Ouch. couldn't be the law or angel of the law. She had a sword in her other hand. Not a pen. I tried to search Google for the answer.
Suddenly my vision became red. Warning alert sounded.
This truly scared the sh*t out of me. What in the world was happening? I screamed at Amy. "Amy, what's happening? Is there anything wrong?"
"Yeah, you shouldn't cheat on a special quest."
"Bruh, So, this is because I tried to Google search this? Why? Did you copy the riddle from there?"
"Hey, I don't set any special quests. They are already in the database. And no. We have no plagiarism policy. Check it after you complete the quest."
I suddenly had an idea. What If I cancel this, for now, go back, search it and come back?
"Then the riddle will be changed into a harder one. And you will lose an attempt when you cancel this. Then, the next time you have to guess the answer in one try. Or the quest will get permanently locked."
Guess imma solve this now.
It was a good, that this thing didn't have a time limit. I never was a good riddle solver. But, something in the poem gave me a familiar feeling.
"Even I couldn't control you with fears
Surely, one day I will move you to tears"
It sounded so sure. What can make us cry, couldn't control our actions, but fears? Something clicked in my mind. Bingo. I found the answer.
"Conscience," I answered proudly.
"The answer is correct. You will get transported into the quest space on 20, 19, 18,..."
"Congrats... It seemed like you aren't stupid as I thought." Amy murmured.
"Jeez, thanks, Amy. By the way, who did speak to me when I was taking the special quest mission? It clearly wasn't you."
"You mean the bot?"
"Oh, makes sense. I wondered why it was so polite to me, unlike you."
"It was you who personalized me. Not my fault."
"Ok ok, you won. What an annoying assistant I have?"
"Not as annoying as my customer."
Let's say our bickering continued until the quest countdown was over.
As soon as the countdown was over, I was sent into another dimension. It happened within a few seconds. Therefore, I didn't even have much time to wrap my mind around the situation.
However, before I was transported into here I heard Amy say, "Good Luck Sammy!" I wondered why she told me that.
"Amy, Where am I?"
No answer. I tried to summon her again. I even insulted her. But, she didn't reply to me. Then suddenly, the automated voice from before echoed inside my mind.
"Welcome to the special-quest space. Here the player cannot access any external help including their AI assistant's help. No electronic devices are allowed into the quest-zone. So, before proceeding into the quest-zone, please remove every electronic device you have. You can send them to the inventory.
After preparing, the player should cross through the dimensional barrier in front of him. Further instructions will be provided at the quest zone."
I put my smartphone on a desk when the system first warned me while I tried to Google the answer. So, I didn't have any electronic devices with me.
I raised my head and saw the wall in front of me showed weird fluid motions. I touched it with my index finger. Waves propagated away from the point I touched it. To my surprise, my finger crossed through the barrier.
So this must be the dimensional barrier? I took a deep breath and walked into it.
The quest zone was looked like a destroyed city. Reddish orange sky made the background for the burned, broken buildings which still emitted a stinky, black smoke. This reminded me of the 2012 world's end (Which that never happened) drawings.
"Welcome to the level 1- quest-zone, player. The main mission you have to do is grabbing the flag in the topmost building. After removing the flag you will be automatically transported into your world within ten seconds.
You have time till midnight, to complete this mission. If you failed to complete the mission, again you will be transported into your world. Then this mission will be locked permanently. Do the player has any questions to ask?"
"Um, yeah, what will happen if someone searches for me at home within this time?"
"The system can create memory gaps in them, for 100 Exp points for each person."
I wanted to vomit 3 liters of blood. Good Lord. THAT'S FREAKING EXPENSIVE. 100 EXP. FOR EACH? WHAT THE HELL!
I checked my current experience points. 110/350. Poor me.
If they found out that I wasn't at home, the maximum punishment Mrs. Lance might give me was not giving me dinner. I can't lose my entire progress for a dinner.
"Do the player wants to use the memory gap option?"
"No Thanks. Where is the flag actually?"
Suddenly, A red circle appeared in my vision. It located the flag building.
HOLY COW! THAT BUILDING IS SO TALL. And, apart from that, The top half looked broken. I bet there were no stairs to climb.
Whatever. I have to do this somehow. I'll figure out something along the way. I will do this.
I cleared my throat. "I'm ready."
"Good Luck Player. The count down will start now. You can check the time by opening the bottom right clock icon.
08: 45: 37
08: 45: 36
08: 45: 35"
I minimized the countdown. If I check the remaining time, I will surely panic and fail the task. So, I stepped forward, towards the ruins, to complete my first special quest.
