More Than A Hero

Fame wasn't Saitama's primary goal for being a hero. But what if his achievements were recognized? *** Please keep in mind that even though I'm a huge fan of the OPM franchise, I cannot replicate each of the character's personalities accurately. And please note that updates wouldn't be frequent. This is an improved version of my previous fic. Or a completely new one idk. And yes, I am back.

Mysterious Child(2)

"Uh... You're hungry...?" Saitama looked at the child's appearance, by the looks of it, she's been inside this forest for a while. It's a mystery to Saitama how the child even survived out here in the middle of nowhere. He looked at Genos wryly, he did not know what to do. Saitama never had a little bro or sister, to begin with, and he did not have any experience babysitting anyone before.

"Guess that's that..." Saitama smiled bitterly. They have to put a pause on their mission and hand this child over to the police, she might have been missing for a while. "Your parents must be worried about you." He said and put the child down.

He extended his hand and offered to hold her along as they traversed the forest to the nearest city. "Let's go, Genos let's search for that monster later." Saitama did not care about the monster right now, the child's safety was his priority. Even though Genos was still a bit sceptical, he hesitantly let go of that feeling and followed his master.

The child held Saitama's hand, she walked on his side weakly. Saitama never noticed but, she seems to have used all of her energy. She almost collapse but was caught by Saitama. He sighed and couldn't help but pity himself. He picked up the kid and carried her on his back.

"Genos, you lead the way." He simply said and followed behind Genos who obediently followed his master's order. While they were walking at a normal pace, Genos detected something coming at them at a fast pace. A normal human or animal couldn't possibly match this speed. "Unknown creature detected! Sensei, it is coming!" Genos informed his master.

"Oh? What is it?" Saitama curiously asked. "Hmm, my thermal scanner detected the lack of bodily heat... Must be some kind of robotic lifeform." Genos was alarmed if it was a cyborg... Then there was a possibility that it was the same one that massacred his town and family.

Genos got in a stance, getting ready for what was to come. He was so focused on the robotic lifeform he detected that Genos did not notice the claw that suddenly attacked him.

Bam!

He was struck right in the chest and got flung across the forest, stopping a few dozen meters away from his original spot. He got buried on the ground and a few trees had fallen over him. He would have been stuck if it weren't for his blasters. Genos managed to stand back up without any issues, but the attack from earlier dealt major damage to his body.

His right arm had been partially ripped, his core was exposed and his chest was covered in a huge gash of three across from his left shoulder to his lower abdomen. Thankfully, his left arm was still fully functional and did not suffer any damage.

Genos was vigilant, he had left his guard down and he paid the price for it. He must write this down as personal experience and improve the areas that he lacks. He looked at his right arm and grabbed it with his left, without hesitation he pulled his arm out and dropped it on the ground. If he left it as that it would prove to be a great disadvantage for him, as he cannot control it anymore.

The thrusters on his were working fine, there doesn't seem to be any damage on his lower area. This was good, the better his condition the better he could fight.

The cyborg looked in the direction his master was in, only to see that his whole body except the head have been buried in the ground. The little girl was nowhere to be seen. "Sensei!" He yelled out and tried to help his master, but he was blocked by a huge figure. Its size was almost twice that of Genos, with its gorilla-like body structure.

"You... Who are you!?"

"Do not get in my way, as it states, you are not our target but that individual over there. If you stand before my way, I will eliminate you." The gorilla said in a robotic tone. It was clear, Genos now knew that this fella in front of him was a cyborg.

"You... How dare you stand before my master!? You are not qualified enough to defeat a being with unimaginable strength such as himself!" Genos was so furious that he forgot the 20 words or less rule.

He immediately activated his strongest attack and aimed it at the cyborg. The gorilla did not stand by and watch his enemy prepare his attack, he launched himself and delivered a terrifying punch to Genos, but even though Genos only had one arm right now, he still managed to block the gorilla's excessive amount of power with his hand alone. Even though Genos appearance did not take drastic changes, doctor Kuseno had made a major upgrade to him.

It allowed Genos to have more flexibility when fighting and a lot more arsenal of weapons. "Incinerate!" He yelled and blasted his enemy's chest with a powerful punch, that blasted him a few meters away. The huge gorilla responded by thrusting his body forward with the help of the blasters in both his feet which accentuated his speed.

In a beat, he arrived before Genos who barely dodge his attack. In response, Genos sent barrages of punches that dealt enough damage to break his armour. His armour crumbled like a piece of dry leaf. Noticing this, Genos took advantage of his enemy's moment of vulnerability and released a hidden blade from his arm that he stabbed into his open chest.

The cyborg gorilla groaned but did not fall, he gripped Genos's arm that was still lodged in his chest and pulled, ripping Genos's arm apart. This was bad, he was armless now, but he still has his legs that could deal lethal damages if used properly. He looked towards his master's direction, he was worried not because of his master, but the child that accompanied them. If she proved to be nothing more than an ordinary kid, then this situation would be more problematic, and she would probably be scarred for life.

Yet, when he looked, he saw nothing more than a puddle of gore on the ground and his master getting out of the ground. He looked quite surprised.

...

A few minutes ago, after Genos was first attacked by the cyborg gorilla. Saitama held the kid's hand in his own, he was confused, Genos suddenly disappeared from his spot and he heard a loud noise in the distance. He didn't see what happened because something was preoccupying his mind. What if this kid eats a lot? He didn't have that much money in the first place and it would prove to be troublesome if the child did indeed, eat a lot.

Maybe he could ask Genos? He didn't know what had happened, but he suddenly found himself buried in the ground, his head sticking out from the ground. 'Ah, I kind of feel like a bamboo shoot.' He thought. Saitama looked around with his eyes, his head movement was limited.

The child was nowhere to be seen, and so was Genos. Suddenly, a huge shadow towered over him. In front was a giant lion monster, that was the only thing that could describe the being in front of Saitama. The monster pointed its long sharp claws directly in front of Saitama's eyes.

"Do you know who I am? I'm the Beast King, king of the—" The monster was cut short when he suddenly felt something as if his soul was being sucked out of his body. 'Crap...! I completely forgot about the child's ability!' He immediately turned around and stared at the child in horror, long bloody tendrils wrapped around his entire body, disabling his movements, he couldn't break free, the thin tendrils looked like they would snap with a bit of effort, but in reality, was stronger than the most durable metal on the planet.

He struggled for his life. He, who was the second strongest creation of the House of Evolution, was struggling against a child. He, the King of the Jungle, will die at the hands of a child... The Beast King couldn't believe it, but alas, the inevitable happened and his life ceased to exist. His body was drained of its blood, the tendrils put pressure on its hold and cut the Beast King's body to pieces.

After a satisfying meal, the child retracted her bloody red tendrils and burped in satisfaction. Saitama watched without much change in his expression but was secretly surprised by the child's powerful ability. She did not look like much of a monster to him, so he had already dismissed the possibility a while ago. Seeing the scene in front of him did not change that opinion.

Saitama effortlessly climbed out of the ground he was in, "Oh right, there's still that one guy that buried me here..." He said aloud. Saitama was about to burrow through the ground when the small girl suddenly released a bunch more tendrils and pierced them to the ground. A few seconds later she pulled them back out with additional weight.

"N-No! How did you find me?!" Ground Dragon screamed, he was panicked. The second strongest in the House of Evolution was easily slain by her, let alone Ground Dragon, even Beast King did not survive. Soon, the same fate awaited Ground Dragon as he was greedily drained of his blood.

'Isn't this a bit too much for a kid...?' Saitama thought, the seemingly innocent child from earlier had mercilessly killed two monsters... This did not faze Saitama, but he was somewhat concerned for the kid. He wondered what kind of environment she was raised in. The last time Saitama encountered this kind of situation, it did not end well...

"Hey... ya' good, kid?" He scratched his head, Saitama did not know what to do in this situation. The white-haired child looked at Saitama dangerously, but when she realized who the person was, her expression dropped to an innocent one just like a few hours prior. She approached Saitama and jumped on his shoulder effortlessly.

Saitama's expression blanked. 'This kid...'
