Chapter 2: The unexpected Guest

Jane gripped her coffee mug tightly as she leaned back against the kitchen counter. It had been two days since she had last seen her Alpha, Lucas, and she had barely slept a wink since then. She knew he was out on pack business, but the fear of not knowing where he was or if he was safe was consuming her.

Just as she was lost in her thoughts, the sound of a knock on her front door jolted her back to reality. Her heart racing, Jane cautiously made her way to the door and peered through the peephole. She didn't recognize the man standing outside her door, but something in his demeanor made her uneasy.

"Can I help you?" Jane asked, keeping her voice steady.

"Please. I'm looking for Alpha Lucas. Is he home?" the stranger replied.

Jane frowned. How did this stranger know Alpha Lucas' name? She knew that the pack's business was private and that no one outside of the pack should be privy to their affairs.

"I'm sorry, but the Alpha isn't here right now. Can I take a message for him?" Jane asked.

The stranger's eyes flickered with annoyance, and for a moment, Jane thought she caught a glimpse of something sinister behind his eyes. But just as quickly, it was gone, and he plastered on a polite smile.

"Of course, where can I find him?" the stranger asked.

Jane hesitated before replying. She didn't want to divulge any more of the pack's business to this stranger, but she didn't want to escalate the situation any further either.

"I'm sorry, but I can't reveal that information. I can take down your name and number and have the Alpha contact you when he's available," Jane replied.

The stranger's smile faltered, and Jane could sense his anger simmering just beneath the surface. She braced herself for the worst, but before anything else could be said, the sound of a car pulling up outside interrupted them.

Jane breathed a sigh of relief as she recognized the sound of Lucas' car. Without a second thought, she unlocked the door and flung it open, eager to reunite with her Alpha. But as soon as she stepped out onto the porch, she saw that Lucas wasn't alone.

Standing beside him was a woman, tall and striking with long, black hair that cascaded down her back like a waterfall. Jane couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy at the sight of her, but Lucas' warm embrace quickly eased her fears.

"I'm sorry I was gone for so long, Jane. This is Iris, a friend of the pack," Lucas introduced.

Jane nodded curtly towards Iris, still feeling uneasy about the stranger in her home.

"Is something wrong, Jane?" Lucas asked, sensing her discomfort.

"Just a stranger came by, looking for you. I didn't recognize him, and he seemed angry when I wouldn't divulge your whereabouts," Jane explained.

Lucas' face hardened, and he turned to Iris.

"I was afraid of this. I need to speak with the pack urgently. Can you take Jane to our house while I go round up the others?" Lucas instructed Iris.

"Of course," Iris replied, a determined glint in her eye.

As they got into Lucas' car and navigated their way through the dark forest paths that surrounded their territory, Jane couldn't help but feel apprehensive. Something big was happening, and she had a feeling that her life and the pack's would never be the same again.

As the moon rose high in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the trees, Jane's mind raced with all the possible scenarios that could be unfolding before them. But as they arrived at the pack's house, and the other members of the pack trickled in one by one, she realized that their obstacle was much bigger than they had ever imagined.

Standing before them was a group of rogue wolves, led by none other than the stranger who had visited her home earlier that night.

Jane's heart raced as the enemy pack called for a challenge, and her Alpha stepped forward to answer it. She knew that the next few hours would be crucial not only for the survival of her pack but also for her newfound love with Lucas.

But as she gazed out into the crowd of moonlit hearts, she knew that together, they were stronger than any obstacle they faced. The strength of their love would see them through, no matter what.
