17. Appraisal Skill

Looking at the child, Lucifer got a strange feeling as he approached him.

He looked like any normal child but gave a sense of maturity, as he walked towards the child the area around him began to change, the previous orphanage was now nowhere to be seen.

"Sorry my friend but with you alive we can't accomplish our mission"

Inside a luxurious bedroom an old man wearing priest's clothes said as the people around him slowly walked towards the man who was bleeding and was badly injured.

"May your soul rest in peace"

The old man said as he watched the knights of his beheaded the man.

"For Arcana!"

The old man softly said and the knights followed the cry.

Looking at them Lucifer was kind of surprised as he recognised the emblem on the knight's armour.

'It's the church'

The illusion went by for a few minutes and all of the knights of church as well as the old man left leaving the beheaded body alone, Lucifer wanted to follow them as there was nothing left in the room but was unable to move as if his body was not in his control.

"Father"

A hoarse cry of a child echoed the room and coming out of an invisible cloak, the same child who he saw at the park hugged the dead body of the man and sobbed.

Lucifer watched the child crying pitifully and soon a head ache struck him, it was so intense that Lucifer closed his eyes tightly and clutched his head.

"..Sir..Sir"

"Huh?"

"Sir are you alright?"

As the pain subsided i looked up and saw the waiter of the café looking at me with a concerned look.

I was back in the café and saw the book in my hands.

"Yeah I'm fine sorry for concerning you all"

I apologised to the waiter and all the customers who were looking towards me and everyone went back to doing their own work.

I also looked back at the book and saw a shiny orb coming at me.

Appraisal: this skill allows the user to see the status of the other things. (Note: If the target holds high level disguise or obstruction skill then this skill will have no effect)

I was quite surprised to attain a new skill and even more when looking at the skill i got, it was the appraisal skill, no one other than the bearer of the appraisal class can have this skill.

Appraisal class is an uncommon and non combatant class which is famous for their work in appraising things and requires a lot of experience, in my previous life not many were fan of this class as it was very weak but some still decided to be an appraisal due to the high wages they recieved from the guilds and the government but being weak was a major drawback of this class.

The appraisal class also is famous for their appraisal skills able to check anyone's status even on their private mode and are very closely involved with detective work.

This skill was thought to be unique to the appraisal class because no one else was able to wield this skill but how can I? Well it was never mentioned in the skill description that it was ever a class skill unique to appraisal class so I guess the information was wrong.

'What is this book?'

I thought to be able to provide me with a skill and an illusion creating ability, this book was surely not any normal book.

I was unable to read anything after 'who', looking at the description of the book it is about the first quantum magus and my predecessor in class, I have been always looking to know more about my class but was never able to as this unique class was never ever mentioned in any written records and now i got this new book i really want to know more about Quantum Magus but i guess I'm too weak now.

"Hmm let's first level up to level 10 and equip my class"

I thought as i left the café at this time of the period it was better to get as strong as possible and also earn as much in game money as i could because when the game becomes more popular it would really be hard to do any of them.
