Chapter 12 - Tutorial Quest

A man grabbed Alex and hugged him, and the two of them rolled down the street avoiding a passing horse-drawn carriage.

"Phew... that was close," the man said as he smiled at Alex.

Alex looked strangely at the man and then he said, "Could you get off of me please?" as he tried to push the man away.

"Wait, why does my voice sound like a woman's voice?" Alex thought.

"Ah, Yes, I'm sorry young lady," the man said as he stood up.

When Alex was confused about why he made a woman's voice, the man reached out his hand to Alex, and Alex grabbed the man's hand without realizing it.

"Are you all right young lady?" the man asked Alex with a smile on his face.

"Why does this man keep calling me young lady?" Alex thought.

"I'm fine, but could you stop calling me young lady?" Alex said.

The man was amazed at Alex's statement because what he saw from Alex was the appearance of a young lady who was very charming like royalty.

"I'm sorry then, could you tell me your name instead?" the man said.

"Why is he asking my name? Is it like choosing a name?" Alex thought. "What name should I use?"

"Young lady, are you really alright?" the man asked Alex again.

"If he keep calling me young lady since earlier, then my current appearance would be a woman," Alex thought. "Maybe I should choose a woman's name?"

After thinking for a moment, Alex thinks about his crush in his previous life again, and he chose the name of his crush to be used by him.

"I'm fine, my name is Abigail, nice to meet you," Alex said.

"Yes," Alex thought.

"Ah, nice to meet you too Abigail, my name is Vald," the man said as he shake hands with Alex.

"You're right," Alex said. "Maybe I have mistaken you for the crown prince since you have a gorgeous appearance just like him."

"Ahh... thanks for the compliment," Valdez said as he laughed nervously.

"Oh, wait a minute," Alex thought. "If there is a basic option, then, there must be an advanced option."

"I have no idea what the hell am I reading," Alex thought.

"Are you really okay Abigail? You've been silent and pensive looking at me," Valdez said as he waved his hand in front of Alex's eyes.

"Ah, yes, I'm fine, I think I should go now," Alex said as he smiled at Valdez.

Alex turned around and took off running aimlessly because he was so confused about what he should do.

Without Alex noticing it, he stopped due to exhaustion in front of a fountain right in the middle of the city.

"Ah, damn it, why am I running aimlessly," Alex thought as he headed toward the fountain.

Alex saw his reflection on the surface of the water from the fountain, and at that moment, he couldn't help but shed tears as he thought that his crush was in front of him.

However, it didn't take long for him to realize that the reflection on the surface of the water from the fountain was a reflection of himself.

"So, I'm now using Abigail's appearance?" Alex thought. "What's more, I used her name as well."

"Tutorial quests? What else is that?" Alex thought. "Should I just log out instead?"

"Log out," Alex said.

"Huh? This screen message again?" Alex thought as he looked confused.

"Again?" Alex thought.

Alex did the same thing over and over again until he got to the point where he concluded that he really couldn't log out.

"Damn it, what the hell is going on?" Alex thought.

Suddenly information flashed into Alex's brain and he get the answer why he couldn't log out.

"Ah, so I can't log out before completing the tutorial quest huh?" Alex thought. "Alright, let's get this shit done quickly."

"Oh, exterminating a group of slimes? That sounds easy enough," Alex thought. "I'll finish this off without a hitch."

Without any thought or preparation whatsoever, Alex headed toward the north gate of the city.

However, without realizing it, Valdez has been following him all along.

It didn't take long for Alex to head towards the north gate of the city as he was guided by some sort of golden arrow pointing the way for him as a quest guide.

At the north gate, there were two gatekeepers who have a body structure that can be considered quite sturdy, and both of them look to have quite scary facial expressions coupled with some scars on their faces.

Alex ventured to approach the two of them and he was immediately blocked by the two of them as he approached the north gate.

"Young lady, where are you going?" One of the gatekeepers asked Alex as he smiled.

Without hesitation, Alex ventured to answer the gatekeeper's question.

"I'm on a tutorial quest to exterminate a group of slimes at the north side of the city walls," Alex said. "Can you let me pass through the gate?"

"Ahh... a tutorial quest huh?" Another gatekeeper said as he smiled. "If it's just a tutorial quest, then you may pass young lady."

Both gatekeepers no longer blocked Alex's path and let him through the gate.

After passing through the gate, Alex turned around and said, "Thank you," to both gatekeepers.

The gatekeepers smiled and waved at Alex, and both of them said, "Good luck," to Alex at the same time.

After Alex left the north gate and went to find the whereabouts of the group of slimes mentioned in his tutorial quest, Valdez arrived at the north gate and the gatekeepers directly pointed their spear toward him.

"Woah, woah, I think there's a misunderstanding here," Valdez said as he smiled nervously.

"A misunderstanding?" One of the gatekeepers said. "No way, you must be a stalker who has been following the young lady earlier."

"Quickly turn around before we catch you-"

Before another gatekeeper could finish his words, Valdez showed both of the gatekeepers the captain's badge of the Inarania royal army.

One of the gatekeepers checked the authenticity of the badge and he could confirm that it was genuine because there was divine power in it.

The gatekeeper returned the badge to Valdez with shaking hands. Valdez immediately took the badge and immediately rushed after Alex, who he knew as Abigail.

On the other hand, Alex had already arrived at the place where the group of slimes was mentioned in his tutorial quest.

Even so, at this moment, Alex was confused about what he should do with those slimes since they has cute designs with colorful colors.

"Ah shit, my intention to exterminate them is gradually gone," Alex thought as he observed the group of slimes from afar. "What should I do then?"

"So, I just need to go over to them huh?" Alex thought as he sneaked up toward those slimes.

Even though Alex felt somewhat astonished, he chose to continue approaching those slimes, and then he smiled at them.

"So, if I meet some criteria, I can acquire a skill or a class huh?" Alex thought. "And for the completed tutorial quest, this happened because I had tamed the slimes so they couldn't be categorized as a threat again."

Alex approached the slimes and then patted their heads one by one.

"Oh, they're so soft," Alex thought. "I guess I need to thank the skill and class I bought because I can feel the softness of slimes like this."

While Alex was busy with the slimes, Valdez who had been observing him all along was amazed at what Alex who he knew as Abigail was doing.

What Valdez saw was a young lady approaching the slimes and making them scared. Then those slimes instantly became docile toward the young lady with just a smile from the young lady.

"This young lady is really interesting," Valdez thought. "I guess I'll observe her for a bit longer."

A screen message appeared in front of Alex.

"I guess there's nothing wrong with opening the reward I got before logging out right?" Alex thought.

"Storage? I have something like that?" Alex thought.

When Alex thought like that, suddenly a screen appeared in front of him and displayed lots of columns with four columns filled.

"I guess these three items are what I just got, but since when did I have this sack?" Alex thought as he touched the image of a sack on the screen.
