"Wow, it dropped a legendary-grade treasure chest! Our first treasure chest," Nina said with shining eyes. "Legendary-grade chests will make everyone green with envy because the most powerful of Astral Art skills we managed to create only reached Legendary grade according to this game."

"But the drop chance of Legendary-grade skill is rare," Arlan said as he approached the monster.

Nina saw that the sword Arlan summoned disappeared after killing that monster and confusedly asked, "That sword was so powerful. Where did it go? And why was it so talkative?"

"Forget it. It's an annoying sword that is in contract with me. It's my boon and curse both," Arlan sighed.

"It robbed me of my physical ki source in my previous life in exchange when I got it. Whenever I use it, I can not use any other physical-related skills. Although the sword is powerful, it's annoying and cursed as hell."

"Couldn't you subdue it with your power?" Nina asked confusedly.

Arlan shook his head. "I got that sword when I accidentally entered a place called Infernal Realm. It took me three hundred years to leave that place, but I also learned many things, new esoteric knowledge of that realm that helped me get stronger, and got into a forceful contract with that annoying sword."

He sighed and added. "That sword's origin is mysterious. Its previous master was more powerful than me, even at my peak in the Arcane realm, and I can't fully subdue the sword to shut its mouth or remove the afflicted curses."

"Oh, then it must be very annoying," Nina muttered before smiling and turning to the treasure chest.

"It's a tier-2 legendary chest. You might get a Legendary-grade skill," Nina said before she smiled at Arlan. "Come on, open it. It's yours."

Arlan's lips twitched as he shook his head. "One of the curses is that whenever I use that damned sword, my luck decreases for a certain amount, depending on how long I stay in its presence."

"So that's why you immediately made it disappear…."

Arlan nodded. "I'll be in bad luck mode for an hour or two. So go ahead and open the chest. But if this game can go higher level of powers than my previous life, I might be able to remove that sword's curses and harmful effects."

"Alright."

Nina rubbed her palms for a second before she touched the chest and opened it. 'Come on, give us something good.'

The chest opened as several colorful orbs spewed before landing on the ground, while a list of things they got from the treasure chest also appeared.

"No legendary-grade skill? Sad." Nine clicked her tongue and picked up the items, "I'll put those materials in the Guild inventory so we don't drop them upon death. You decide about the sword and skill since both are useless to me."

"Blood, huh…" Arlan murmured before he focused on the orb that contained the skill scroll.

_Attributes: Magic, Blood.

_Scaling: Magic-8, Mind-2.

-Effect: Conjures Blood Needles with high piercing power that explodes upon managing to pierce targets and inflict them with Bleed and Heal Reduction Debuff.

"The skill is good but requires Blood affinity to use it."

"Yep. All skills at Epic grade and above require affinity. You can use any skills as long as they are uncommon-grade and lower, but it's still better to learn and master skills that match your affinity," Nina said.

"Yeah. I heard people talking about evolving their skills." Arlan nodded before he looked at the legendary weapon.

"Yep. People can make their common and uncommon skill evolve further as long as their affinity matches the main attributes of the skill, though it's not easy to evolve one's skill and requirements are harsh."

"This weapon is quite good," Arlan said in surprise.

"Cool. I want to see how you fight with melee weapons," Nina grinned. "We can have a spar later outside."

Arlan grabbed the Fish Butcher's Blade. It was not precisely a sword because it had a metal hilt connected to the naked plain, curved black blade with a faint red pulsing magical border.

The blade was curvy but thirty centimeters wide at the hilt area before narrowing as it lengthened 2 meters long.

"Feels like a butchering knife, but with big size and clean curve with a sharp and strong edge," Arlan said as he waved the blade. "It's truly a weapon made to butcher humans and big size creatures, haha."

"By the way, that courtyard disappeared," Nina said dumbfoundedly. She was not facing the courtyard until now, so she didn't know.

"Oh, I got a notification about putting this courtyard under the guild territory, and I accepted, so it disappeared. But I can relocate it to land owned under my private property or guild territory and place it there.

"Then we are done for now; let's go out and have lunch. I must also tell you about a few things and introduce you to some people."

Arlan had awakened a habit of doing various experiments with alchemy and other myriad things because he had lived for a long time and had nothing to do at one period in his life.

"And of course, I want to meet with other people and live with my new family properly. I want to see how it feels like to be living in a human society after a long time."

"After all, I need to know more about the world I am going to lord over eventually," Arlan said with a grin.

"Pff, Keep dreaming. You may be the overlord of death, but things won't be so simple," Nina said as she playfully mocked Arlan. "The mysteries and powers of Grim Core surpass you by far."

"I know that, which is one of the reasons I joined you," Arlan smiled. "When are you going to show me that Grim Core?"

Nina crossed her arms and said, "I can't because I no longer have the authority to see it. But you can do it with me."

"What do you mean?"

"After you know more about this world, and I about you, we'll rack our brain on how to quickly become a reckoning force for Grim Earth Union to enter their top echelon, which consists of basically all top forces, including top governments and leaders of the supernatural side of the world.

"I'm sure you have enough magical knowledge of your previous life to become a reckoning force quickly," Nina added, her eyes rippling with excitement.

Arlan lightly laughed and said, "I know enough to have several ideas already because I inherited all memories from the previous Arlan."

"Really?! Alright, I am logging out and coming to your apartment in ten minutes. We'll talk about your ideas over lunch."

At that, Nina directly logged out as her avatar disappeared.
