Who doesn't have their own flaws?

''We received a direct call from the President's office saying that we should close the case of Detective Sandas. Even our boss told us to not get involved. My apologies, Minister but as of now my team and I are officially out of the case.'' The NIS Team leader said and walked out of the hall.

''Find out who is in the ear of the President.'' Minister Boris said to his assistant.

''Sir, it was the Supreme Justice Oak who called the shots. His son, the Prosecutor has a relationship with Detective Sanders. I am sure he asked his grandfather for a favor.''

''Why is he getting involved? That nosy Prosecutor is looking for trouble with me. What about the money? What did the bank say?'' Minister Boris scoffed.

''The money has being removed from the two accounts. The bank will not allow anyone to touch the money until they hear from Detective Sandas.'' Denis explained.

''Maybe this is a blessing in disguise that she didn't die. That wrench is determined to make my life miserable. I will teach her a lesson.'' Minister Boris hit his palm on the table as he spoke.

''Sir, I suggest we lay low and wait until she wakes up. Right now there are a lot of people showing interest in the case. We have to be careful.'' Denis suggested.

''Alright! Keep checking on the hospital. Let me know as soon as that wrench wakes up. Wait! What about the other one?''

''She is in coma.''

'She can die for all I care.'' Minister Boris said with contempt before walking away.

Denis sighed and took his phone out.

Hope Hospital.

''You have to wake up, Avery. '' Fiona held Avery's hand as she sat next to her. She turned when she heard the door opening.

Prosecutor Oak had just returned from seeing Investigator Mr. Jun off. Fiona stood up when she saw Kai walking towards the bed.

''Avery, now that I'm looking at Prosecutor Oak, he isn't bad at all. He even told that mafia boss that he is your boyfriend. I think something might really happen between the two of you once you wake up.'' Fiona smiled.

As she giggled, her heart started beating fast. ''Oh… what is wrong with me? Why is my heart…'' Fiona's soul vanished from the room at once.

Kai was covering Avery up with the quilt when he saw two nurses rushing into the next ward. The alarm in the ward was also going off.

Kai turned and rushed out. He entered the next ward and saw the doctor performing CPR on Fiona's body.

''What is wrong?''

''There is something wrong with her heart. Someone tempered with her oxygen vault.'' The nurse said.

''What? How did that happen?'' Kai asked.

''I was coming in to give the patient the injection when I bumped into a man dressed in black. He pushed me down and ran away. The alarm went off and I checked and found out that her oxygen vault was injected with gas.'' The nurse explained.

Kai looked at Fiona keenly and saw the doctor relax. The doctor turned and said to Kai.

''Prosecutor Oak, she is stable but I suggest you give the patient police protection.'' Dr. Chen said.

''I will do that right away.'' Kai removed his phone and made a call to Mariah.

''Let two men come over and protect the patient. Someone tried to harm her.'' Kai said as soon as Mariah answered the call.

''Okay, I will send some men right away.'' Mariah replied.

Kai hung up and turned to look at Fiona. Fiona's soul appeared again and she stood next to her body.

''Who was that? Who tried to kill me? Minister Boris? Looks like I have to do something fast.'' Fiona muttered.

Next day…

''Detective Avery, I brought your favorite dishes. If you don't wake up, I will have to eat all of it and leave you.'' Suleiman said and sighed.

''How can this happen to senior? She already has a difficult life…'' He mumbled.

''Have you known Avery for long?'' Kai walked in and asked. He was just at the door and overheard Suleiman's words.

''Prosecutor Oak, good morning. I allowed myself in because you weren't in.'' Suleiman looked at Kai. It looked like he had taken a shower and changed into a new set of outfit. Suleiman scratched his head shyly.

''It's alright!''

''Senior was my first senior I was assigned to when I came to Hans Island Police Station. Everybody said I was assigned to the worst senior and made fun of me but I feel that I'm lucky. Senior takes care of me. Thanks to her, my sister was able to get surgery and is recuperating well.''

Kai looked at Avery and smiled. ''Who would have thought she had this side to her?''

''People misunderstand senior a lot. Who doesn't have their own flaws? She just wants to climb higher. She just has ambitions and is willing to pay the price for them. Who cares about the means she uses?'' Suleiman said and sighed.

''Actually, senior does what the higher ups want but at the end of the day, she always follows up with the victims and secretly helps them out secretly. I think that is her own way of apologizing to them for not taking their side.''

Suleiman looked at the clock. ''Look at me? I have to be at the station. Sorry for boring you with unnecessary chatter. Prosecutor Oak, thank you for taking care of senior. I should be on my way.'' Suleiman pointed at the food.

''I didn't know which food you like so I prepared a little of everything. Most of it is what senior likes to eat. I will see you later, Prosecutor Oak.'' Suleiman bowed and hurried out of the ward.

''Wait…'' Kai sighed when the door closed. He turned and looked at the food. ''I don't eat breakfast in the morning.'' Kai muttered.

Soon the doctors came for their normal routine checks. After checking Avery, the female doctor turned and said to Kai.

''Are you her family?'' Dr. Ozge asked.

''Yes.''

''What kind of relationship do you have with the patient? I'm sorry for asking too much but I'm just doing my job.'' Dr. Ozge asked.

''I understand. I am Kai Noah Oak, a Prosecutor at the district office and… her boyfriend.'' Kai hesitated before answering.

''The patient is on her period, I will need you to pay for her sanitary items from the pharmacy and help her with it.'' Dr. Ozge said with a straight face and the nurses chuckled.

''Huh?'' Kai's face turned red.

''Aren't you her boyfriend? If you can't do it, the nurses will help you.'' Dr. Ozge said and chuckled. ''I was joking, Prosecutor Oak. I will let the nurse do that.'' She added.

''I will do it!'' Mariah walked in saying.

''How about the nurses do it?'' Kai suggested.

Dr. Ozge looked at them and asked. 'Is she doing it or the nurses? The patient needs help immediately.''

''I will do it!'' Mariah raised her hand.

Kai sighed and nodded his head. ''She will do it. I will go and get the things right away.'' Kai said and hurried out of the ward.

''Doctor, you said she would wake up soon but it's been 14 hours since she was sleeping. Is she… alright?''

''She is fine. It is natural to wake up a little later than the given time. The patient must have being stressed prior to the accident, so it is a little hard on her body but she will definitely wake up before or after 24 hours. Don't worry.'' Dr. Ozge assured Mariah.

''Okay! Thank you, Doctor.''

''You are welcome. Excuse me!'' Dr. Ozge said and walked out with the nurses.

Mariah walked to the table and picked up one of the sandwich from the box and ate. ''This is good. I should order some.''

''It's homemade!'' Kai said as he closed the door.

''Did you make this to eat?'' Mariah asked. 'Looks like you are taking the fake boyfriend role a little seriously.'' She commented.

''I didn't make those. Suleiman brought the food. Here, I didn't know which type to buy so I bought one each.'' He said.

Mariah took the bag and opened it. She looked at the sanitary pads and chuckled. ''This much is enough to last the year. Did you have to exaggerate this much? Also, why is your face red? Don't tell me this is your first time of getting sanitary pad for a woman?''

''I have a lot of experience…'' Kai said, a little loudly.

''Judging from your response it seems to be the case.''

''I said no!''

''Can you go out for a while? I am going to help Avery change.'' Mariah said and Kai immediately turned and left the ward.

….

''You can come in!'' Mariah opened the door and said to Kai.

''Mm!'' Kai turned to go in and they heard someone's voice.

''Prosecutor Oak, Detective constable Sanchez… It's a pleasure seeing you two here. I've heard a lot about you two and I must say I am impressed with the way you controlled the situation.'' The Prime Minister said as he approached them with his secretary and four bodyguards.
