Acquired items

"Hmm... So that's the case?"

"Yes, I swear on my life"

"Hmmm...."

I was held inside a small enclosed room with chains binding my hands together as a woman stared at me with suspicious eyes.

Sighing I placed my chained hands on the table, and looked at her dead in the eyes.

"Look, You can ask the Old man named Joseph that I have zero connection to these thieves and I bought the Vine Rune fair and square."

"Are you sure?"

Feeling my blood pressure rise I let out an angry sigh and massaged my head with what little patience I had left.

I had been in this enclosed room for three hours now, two of which involved me waiting around as the people related to some pace called the investigative bureau tried to build up my anxiety through absolutely nothing.

They succeeded in making me both annoyed and bored I can tell you that much.

Even after taking all the visible items I had looted fair and square from the perpetrators, and my own items I had crafted or bought with my hard earned under the guise of 'Evidence'.

You can't hide your greedy intent from your eyes idiot.

They then had the gall to make me wait TWO whole hours for them to establish a sort of supremacy.

Something tells me that they were a corrupt organization seeing as they looked at my gold ranked Merchants plate and the a C ranked adventurer and didn't think twice before detaining.

Sighing as the woman in front of me was incredibly stubborn despite one whole entire fucking hour of nothing but monotonous questions.

I felt incredibly tempted to break these chains to punch the woman.

And in this new world, I most likely could.

"Hey"

Glancing at the man who just opened the door and gestured at the woman, she walked towards him and listened to the mans whispers.

And from the ugly look on the woman's face, it seemed like news that I was going to particularly like was being passed onto the woman.

And her words further confirmed that fact.

"Congratulations" Starting off with a sarcastic remark, the temptation to punch the bitch in her face and put her in place was real.

"It seems that you have been found not guilty of being part of the group of thieves who have raided the auction house last night."

'Like I've been telling you this piece of information an entire hour!?'

"Now please wait here as we retrieve the keys we used to lock your chains so that you can leave and retrieve your items"

Rolling my eyes at those words as they most likely would've made me wait for an entire ten minutes to even complete that simple task, I just grunted and ripped the chains apart.

"No thanks, I want to leave right now"

Rubbing my sore wrists as I ripped off the iron chains like they were nothing and flexing my fingers I glared at the woman.

"Oh yeah" Pointing my fingers at her face I punched the wall behind her head. "Just so you know"

Cracking the wall behind her I whispered into her ears. "You were this close to blowing my patience and making blow your head off"

Moving my hands away and shaking off the dust off of them

Sighing as I retrieved my items and looked for anything missing I thought about the difference in mentality I had since my arrival in this world.

I knew that I was slightly unhinged to quickly adapt to this world from my previously lawful world and turning into a being able to rip apart a vaguely humanoid being with ease.

I'm pretty sure that in the previous world called Earth I would've just kept those thoughts to myself.

Nonetheless, I was kinda pissed.

Checking over the items and glaring at a nearby guard who was nearby and putting my hand out.

I received the gold coin after some waiting.

Putting the gold coin into my money pouch which had no visible end to it.

I walked out of the investigative bureau and stared at the old man who slightly waved at me.

---

"It seems that you didn't face much problems I see?" The Old man walked besides me as I walked towards the library once again because I had more questions than answers.

"If you think 3 hours of wasted time is no problems than yeah" Sarcastically replying I was surprised by the reply that came at me.

"3 hours is little problem in fact, they keep irrelevant people here against their will for a day or so before taking a few silver for their time"

Pointing at himself the Old man continued "When they catch a big fish like me, they usually keep us in there for a much longer time and try to rip off your belongings while registering the goods as evidence"

"If me and you didn't have connections to the military, the Bureau would have taken your auction items and claimed all your belongings as their own"

"How come no one has taken action this blatant corruption?" Raising an eyebrow at that rather prevalent oversight, Joseph let out a long sigh as he rubbed his neck.

An action I found he usually did when he was slightly anxious.

"Well, the leader of the investigative bureau is the son of an A rank adventurer, and despite being separated the A rank dotes on his son a lot"

Rolling my eyes I turned to look at the starry sky that was slowly brightening.

"And let me guess, the guy abuses his power a bit to much?"

"That and he has a lot of artifacts handed to him by his father that allow him to be on par with a B rank despite being D rank himself."

Glancing at the library I nodded to the old man "Well I've arrived at the place I want to be at, so we part ways here"

"Ok than, I will take my leave" Turning abruptly to the left where the Merchants district was at, I was left alone staring at the old mans back.

Sometimes.

I had absolutely no idea whether Joseph was pretending to be an old man or he actually was an old man.

Because his manner of speech was eerily on the same wavelength as mine.

But than again it could be a type of skill the man got during his merchant days to get closer to his buyers or sellers.

Shrugging at that random thought that popped into my head.

I ran my fingers inside my pocket around the Vine rune, answers dancing in my head as I opened my inventory and stared at the Crystal heart, monotonously beating inside one of the slots.

'It's nice I can blame the Crystal heart was stolen by those guys'

Grinning as I opened the door to the room, I walked to the receptionist and asked.

"Where can I find information on items such as the Heart crystal and Runes?"
