Ethan sat at his workbench, staring at the pile of items before him. His hands ran over the smooth surface of his netherite armor, his mind still lingering on the strange shimmer he had noticed earlier. It had been fleeting but significant, something new, something powerful.
In front of him lay two crystals: the dark crystal left behind after the vampire's death, and the glowing green shard he had got when he kill mutant zombie. Both crystals pulsed faintly, as if they contained a dormant energy waiting to be unlocked. Ethan hadn't known what to make of them at first, but after everything he'd been through, he couldn't afford to ignore anything that might give him an edge.
He picked up the green crystal, its light casting an eerie glow over the small room. There was something about it, something that drew him in. He had no idea how to use it, but an idea began to form in his mind. What if this crystal wasn't just a strange artifact? What if it could be used as a tool, an enchantment?
His heart raced at the thought. Enchanting had always been a risky move in this world, draining his strength with each new spell. But this crystal was different may be diffrent. Maybe it will maybe it not but he had to try, he need to take risk as the situation in future maybe became even dangerous for him.
Ethan placed the green crystal beside his netherite chestplate and took a deep breath. The air around him seemed to still as he focused, his fingers brushing over the shard and the armor. Slowly, carefully, he pressed the crystal against the chestplate.
A sudden burst of light flared from the crystal, enveloping the armor in a soft, glowing aura. Ethan instinctively stepped back, shielding his eyes. When the light faded, he cautiously approached the chestplate again, his heart pounding in his chest.
The armor looked... the same. At least, at first glance. But then, as he inspected it more closely, he saw the faintest glimmer along its edges. A soft, ethereal glow that hadn't been there before. He picked it up, feeling its weight in his hands. It wasn't just his imagination, the chestplate felt stronger, more durable.
He checked the armor stats, just as he would have done in the game, and a notification seemed to flash in his mind:
[Netherite Chestplate]
+Durability
Ethan's eyes widened. The crystal had worked. It had enchanted his armor, but without the usual drawback of draining his strength. If anything, he felt the same as before, maybe even a little stronger.
A surge of hope filled him. If the green crystal could enhance his armor, what could the dark crystal do? He reached for the black, ominous shard left behind by Vampire death. It pulsed in his hand, a low, ominous hum vibrating through his skin. There was a weight to this crystal that made Ethan hesitate, but he knew he couldn't afford to waste time.
He placed the dark crystal next to his netherite sword. If the green crystal had enhanced his armor, perhaps the dark one would do something similar for his weapon. He pressed the crystal against the sword, and once again, a burst of light filled the room. But this time, the light was darker, more shadowy. It flickered and crackled like lightning.
When the light subsided, Ethan lifted the sword, feeling the familiar weight in his hand. The blade looked sharper, more menacing, with dark veins of energy running through the metal. He swung it experimentally, feeling an unexpected surge of power in his arm. He checked the sword stats in his mind.
[Netherite Sword]
+Strength
Ethan smiled grimly. The dark crystal had worked too. He now held a weapon that could deal devastating blows, and his armor was more durable than ever. This breakthrough was exactly what he needed. With these new upgrades, he stood a chance against the mutant monsters that had been hunting him.
He slid his sword into its sheath and donned the enchanted chestplate. A new determination filled him. He wasn't just going to survive, he was going to fight back.
But Ethan wasn't naive. He knew that these upgrades, while powerful, wouldn't be enough on their own. The mutants that were after him were relentless, and whoever controlled them wasn't going to stop until he was dead. He needed to be smart, and he needed to be prepared for anything.
Far away, at Ethan's old base, the two remaining mutants arrived.
The Explosive Skeleton and Fiery Phantom stood among the wreckage, their glowing eyes scanning the area.
Though neither of them could speak, they understood each other perfectly. Their master had sent them to find Ethan, to finish what Uyou had failed to do. They had tracked his scent to this place, but now, they sensed he was no longer here.
The Skeleton raised its bow, crackling with unstable energy, and fired a single arrow into the distance. The explosion that followed echoed through the land, a warning to anyone nearby. The skeleton turned toward the Phantom, and with another low growl, they began to move again. Ethan's scent lingered in the air, faint but still traceable. They would find him, and when they did, there would be no escape.
Ethan had no idea that these creatures were already on his trail. For now, he was safe, hidden away in his new mountain fortress, his base lined with obsidian, his traps set, and his armor and weapons newly enchanted. But the mutants were closing in.
As he finished preparing for whatever was to come, Ethan noticed something, something he hadn't realized before.
His eyes darted over his armor and sword once more, and for a brief moment, he saw it again. That shimmer, that faint glow. But this time, it wasn't just a glow. It was something more, something deeper. A connection, a hidden power that went beyond what he had understood.
Ethan's hand paused over the sword, his mind racing.
Something was different, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
