The next morning came so soon. Or maybe it was because she couldn't sleep. She was busy thinking. She wondered if the job was the right one for her.
Myra got up earlier to prepare for work.
She took a calm and relaxing shower.
She opened the door of her fridge and looked through it quickly.
With a hiss, she slammed it shut. It was almost empty except for a few packs of crackers.
Even the container of Jam was already empty.
It's been a while since she had a decent meal.
Myra had her bath and contemplated quickly on what to wear. She eventually decided on a red dress with matching black heels.
She applied a little powder to conceal the bags under her eyes and rushed out of the house after dropping a note for the landlord.
She wanted to look good for her boss. Who knows, he might find fault in her that morning.
She stood awake throughout the night for no reason. Yet, it was another thought about her wicked CEO. She doesn't even know what she was supposed to do about him.
And she does even know if she was supposed to start searching for jobs in case her boss fired her unexpectedly.
The thought of it does scare her.
He hadn't talked about the apology letter which was strange. She wondered if he had something else on his mind.
Whenever her mind wrapped around the fact that he might be watching to see if he could sack her, she would shudder.
Also, she couldn't stop thinking about her mother's request. She needed to pay for her brother's fees.
But would Kevin accept her offer? That worried her overnight as well.
Well, Kevin was someone that looked and acted wicked. With all he had done to her, she wouldn't ever believe he could grant her small request.
But she wanted to ask anyway since she had no other place to go.
She didn't even know if it was right to ask Peter. She wasn't even married to him. Putting her expenses on him would look weird and well, place her in a very awkward position.
She arrived at the company in no time.
She glanced around as she stepped out of the elevator.
A few staff had arrived so she hurried to Kevin's office to do a final brush up, preparing the documents he sent to her yesterday.
"Lilian?"
Myra was startled when she felt an arm on her shoulder. "You scared m_," She whirled around and froze.
Kevin stared deeply at her, his eyes ran all over her body. He looked very handsome as always in his black suit and carefully styled hair. It was like he was born by a demi-goddess. Anything he wears does look good on him.
Though, Myra wondered if he do go to a special spa for his face. Or if he does go to the gym because he looked physically good. And Myra mentally knew he had abs.
"I mistook you for someone else" he went back to sit.
Myra pretended to re-arrange his desk as she regained her composure. She noticed the apology letter behind a file, almost going invisible.
Myra picked it up and placed it where it would be easy for him to see it. She touched it severally so that Kelvin would at least look at it.
He resumed quite early today, she noted. And then she wondered why he was absent the day before.
"Is that what you do when you see your Boss in the morning," he quizzed with a raised brow.
"Huh?" Myra thought. She slapped her forehead when she realized what he meant. "Good morning sir. Welcome to the office today" she bowed.
He nodded, pleased somehow.
"Would you like to have your coffee now?" she asked when he kept staring at her. She needed to be on good behavior today so he'll consider her request. perhaps, a miracle would happen. She seriously needed him to accept her request.
"Come here" Kevin waved her over. He seemed a little dazed over something. And well, he also seemed calm and usually quiet.
"Why did you have to wear such a dress?" he asked, and his eyes roamed around her for a moment, then back at her face.
"What's wrong with it?" she asked, dazed. She looked away, feeling herself grow small with his scrutiny.
"Can't you see how exposed your-" he cleared his throat, averting his eyes. He sounded exasperated and well, frustrated.
Myra looked at herself again. Her cleavage was showing but whenever she bent, it would be clear for whoever is in front of her to see. It must be when she bent to arrange the files on his table.
Oh, God. Was Kevin also a pervert?
Re-adjusting her dress, she sighed. Though, she saw nothing wrong with the dress. He could have looked away.
She looked back at him and realized he was focused on the files he asked her for the day before yesterday.
Myra was sure he saw the apology letter but intentionally abandoned it. And she wondered why.
He gave her an icy look "By the way, I heard of your hassle with the ladies and of the little compliment you gave the Director."
Myra blinked once, unsure of how to start, "No, I_," she stopped as an unknown feeling overwhelmed her.
"No?!" he hollered. "I wasn't around for a day. The next thing you could do was mess around with the director. Do you want a miserable life?"
Myra swallowed hard.
"I'm really disappointed in you," he shook his head slightly but his gaze was still on her.
"It wasn't like that sir. He called me an idiot and a dimwit. And so, I retaliated. I'm so sorry sir," she spurts, afraid the issue might make him decline her request.
What would happen if she's unable to pay her brother's tuition fee due to a mistake she made.
"What?" Kevin raised a brow and well, he also sounded alarmed.
"He also insulted you, calling you irresponsible," she added quickly.
Kevin stood up suddenly, hot anger surged through him quickly.
Why the heck would the director call his secretary an idiot?
Christ Reyes had always been distant ever since he joined the company, refusing to even attend shareholders' meetings whenever he was around.
They sure had issues and were at loggerheads but Christ shouldn't extend it to his secretary.
Only he had the exclusive right to treat Myra that way.
He would have given him a taste of his medicine then but he decided to hold back because of his sister.
But Kevin was not ready to take it.
"You can leave," he said, casually dismissing Myra.
Myra took a deep breath before walking out of the office.
Kevin took the elevator to the topmost floor where Christ's office was.
He made to knock on the door but it opened and Christ stepped out, followed quickly by some men.
Kevin walked in and waited for him inside while he settled the men outside his office.
"So, I will see you later," he said, finally dismissing the men.
"What are you doing here? This is work hours. Are you slacking off already?" he said annoyingly as he walked in and closed the door. He walked back to the desk but didn't sit as he drilled holes into Kevin's face.
Kevin moved forward, with a teasing smile, "You never changed Christ."
Christ stared at him for a moment, " Is that what you are here to say?"
"Maybe," Kevin looked away to pick a ticket on the desk, "You are going to a cinema with your girlfriend?"
"And what the fuck has that got to do with you!" He almost screamed. His eyes went wider with rage as he made to snatch the ticket from Kevin but he was fast enough to take it away from his face. He made a smirk at him.
Kevin looked at him, throwing an intimidating glare at him, "What did you say to my secretary yesterday?"
Christ finally sighed, " You are here because of that?" His voice was indifferent.
" I just asked a question, Christ," Kevin gathered his brows and managed a whisper even though he wanted to scream at him.
"And so," he held a pleasing expression, "What will you do?" He folded his arms in front of him, with a somewhat blank expression.
Kevin turned around and folded his fist even harder that his knuckle almost turned white. He placed the ticket on the table and took a step back, "No matter what, I'm still the CEO of this company. Everything that happens here must concern me," his voice was deep.
He looked at him all over, " If you try what you did yesterday with my secretary again, I will_, " he stopped midway and made a teasing smile instead.
"Oh, or what?" He withdrew his hands in front of him and put them in his pockets instead.
They both stare at themselves as if they are in a staring competition.
