“I was thinking about how Thad will do in this terrain, but it doesn’t matter because Elijah and Elora won’t do any better. They’re humans, and terrain like this is challenging for us, but for them it’ll take a long time to walk through, which means we have a good chance of catching up.” It wasn’t exactly what he’d been thinking, but he’d added some while he talked.
“We would hear them.” Frank flashed teeth when Kol met his gaze. It was a conflict. Kol was more dominant, but this was Frank’s territory. Perhaps they should’ve gone on different teams.
“Yeah.” Kol stopped and so did Leo and Frank. For several seconds they stood and listened. Then there was a branch or something cracking followed by muttered curses from across the lake. A human wouldn’t have heard it, but they did. “Thad.”
Leo nodded. “Maybe the terrain is different up there?” He directed the question to Frank, avoiding eye contact as he did.
Frank relaxed a fraction. “No…or yes, it gets rockier.”
