Midni

The world knew a tale. A beautiful tale. A fairytale. . . . But was that actually so beautiful? So dreamy? Did that short summary of a phrase in her life really get a happy ending? Did Cinderella really live an happily ever after with her Prince Charming? No. The story continued.... And it continued in such a way, that people fantasizing it could never, ever imagined it like that.

PATHETIC HUMANS

Xavier stared at his sister with big sparkling eyes. And when Elora walked near too them, she hurriedly ran to her and stood in front of her, and said, "Wow Ella, you look like a fairy today. Just like those in the fairytales. Magical! "

His sweet compliment brought a smile on Elora's face, she touched his head and then pinched his cheeks. "Oh, is it?" And on seeing Xavier nod eagerly, she said, "You are such a sweet talker. But we are humans, darling." Xavier gave a cute smile, and then shrugged saying, "But who knows..., maybe there are faires too?" and then, the next second as if remembering something, he widened his eyes and said hurriedly, "Come, come, Ella. We must hurry or the ball would start with out us!" And saying this, he started pulling her forward towards carriage.

Elora sighed and said helplessly, "Alright, we can take our time. There is plenty of time for the hour of the hall. "

When Elora came to her mother, Ava smiled and touched her cheeks, " My daughter looks beautiful. Very beautiful." Elora smiled to her mother. And when she turned towards Frederick, the smile on her lips flattered. She stared at him calmly, who looked back at him and then said with a straight face, " It is such a shame that I am not going for the prince."

Hearing her, Frederick's eyes slightly widened as it was exactly what he was thinking about. Looking at his reaction, Elora smirked and then climbed into the carriage, who was followed by the hurrying Xavy.

Ava looked at her husband and held his hand and she said, "Don't mind her. Let's go. " Frederick stared at the carriage door through which Elora just climbed into, and thought that maybe his thoughts were too obvious for her to know.

...

Inside the carriage, the husband and wife talked to each other, while Elora patiently answered the curious Xavier, who continuosly asked about things that he saw in the night through the window. After sometime, when the carriage entered the forest route and Xavier couldn't see anything, he got upset and turned to his sister and complained, "Ella, I can't see anything!"

Elora slightly smiled and said, " Because we are humans, Xavier."

Xavier threw his head back in sadness and whined, "Why am I a human... and not a vampire, or werewolf or... or... Or any other magical creature. I am just a powerless human..." Elora at first opened her mouth to tell him some encouraging words, but then changed her mind and simply smiled.

What was the use of offering her fake encouragement when she too thought the same. Humans. Humans had a pathetic condition in their world, where they seemed only empty vessels and prey to the vampires and werewolves, who got no ability to protect themselves from their predators. It was only some humans like them who had noticable ancestors and respected bloodline due to which they were given high position in the king's council. And they lead a better life than the others. Humans were really pathetic.

Feeling Xavier leaning on her, she patted his head and said, "You do not think so much about this. Just fight for yourself and achieve your best." Little Xavier didn't quite understand what his sister tried to mean but when he lifted his head, he saw his sister in deep thought. 'Maybe it was some grown up thing.'

The rest of the rode went comfortably quite, with the husband and wife sometimes talking to each other, Elora stared out at the dark night with some places luminated with the moon, her baby hairs fluttering due to the wind, and Xavier who fell asleep leaning on her.

Soon they were about to reach the castle, and Elora turned her head towards it.
