Rainfall

Frozen in fear by his presence, Big Boss inhaled more smoke and just cracked an eerie smile.

"Nice to finally see you, David. I see you're doing well for yourself. I recommend all of you drop your weapons if you would be so kind." Big Boss told them, they saw they were completely outnumbered so they obliged and did so.

"Life's end…Isn't it beautiful? It's almost tragic. When life ends, it gives off a final lingering aroma. Light is but a farewell gift from the darkness to those on their way to die. I've been waiting, Snake, for a long time. Waiting for your birth, your growth, and the finality of today, the day of your ascension." said Big Boss,

"I won't become you…" Snake coldy replied which made Big Boss chuckle,

"You really don't have a choice anymore. You understand everything that I felt when I killed The Boss years ago, you saw the true face of your government and NATO, how they feel about people like us."

"They see what I see…a monster who is deluded into thinking they're the hero. You've manipulated everyone around you and you have broken them into being puppets for your own amusement." replied Solid Snake,

"My children are not puppets, I saved them just like how I'm saving you from their system! Their corrupt system does not care about what we go through or what we feel on the battlefield, only the battlefield understands and it becomes our home, our Heaven and our Hell!" Big Boss madly ranted. While they were talking, Gustava was staring at Gray Fox, grasping her locket and praying that what she's about to do works,

"Someone told me long ago…There's a calm before the storm. I know…it's been comin' for some time…" she angelically sang, her vision locked onto her lover and taking step by step towards him. Fox turned to her, the soldiers were about to aim but Big Boss raised his hand, wanting to see where it went.

"When it's over, so they say…" Fox suddenly sang with a beautiful voice,

"It'll rain a sunny day. I know, shinin' down like water…" continued Gray Fox. Snake weirdly noticed a sort of illumination and twinkle in his former friend's eye, almost like it was his genuine self. Gustava grinned widely with tears streaming down her face. She and Fox quickly closed the gap in between themselves, looking at each other's eyes as they did once before

"I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain-" right as Gustava was about to continue the chorus, she gasped and looked at Fox in horror as blood ran down her lip. Snake was completely speechless and his heart and mind shattered once he saw while Big Boss just grinned, Gray Fox stabbed Gustava in the chest with his sword. She caressed his cheek and coughed blood on his emotionless face,

"I wanna know…have you ever seen the rain…comin' down on a sunny day…" he said in a strange disassociated tone. Gustava's wounded body fell backwards as Snake ran up to her and held her, clutching on the wound Fox gave her, she was trying to say something but her body was going into shock while Snake and everyone else saw the life fade from her eyes. Holly fell to her knees in sheer pain, crying her eyes out while Solid Snake's face changed from sadness to one of anger, the anger burning in his chest, the rage of this entire mission. He looked up at his former comrade who simply looked at him back,

"HOW COULD YOU?! How could you just do that to her?! She loved you! She gave birth to your child, how…how can you just…" shouted Snake. Fox turned to Big Boss,

"You almost had me there, Fox…but it's not enough. I'm afraid I must ask you to show me some proof of your loyalty, Fox." Big Boss told him,

"You don't trust me, Boss?" asked Gray Fox,

"No, just a simple test." Big Boss said to him,

"What would you have me do?" asked Gray Fox, Big Boss walked to Solid Snake then pointed at him to gesture his men to hold him down. Once he was grabbed, Solid was squirming around but they had him held tight, Big Boss simply smiled and pointed at him,

"Cut out his eye…You made him a

soldier and now you will unmake him. Yes, it will make for a touching display. Ruin him, just as he did to your comrades." ordered Big Boss. Gray Fox drew out his sword and walked towards him,

"The right one, Fox." clarified Big Boss. Gray Fox nodded as he slowly approached the captured Solid Snake, Madnar and Holly both screamed for Fox not to do it. The rain began to pour over them, Big Boss then started humming a short tune,

"I'm singin' in the rain…just singin' in the rain…What a glorious feeling, I'm happy again! I'm laughing at clouds, so dark up above, The sun's in my heart and I'm ready for love!" Big Boss sung as Gray Fox stood across from Solid Snake, he held his blade up, directing it towards his right eye. Solid didn't even try begging because he was still angry at him.

"Let the stormy clouds chase everyone from the place. Come on with your rain, I've got a smile on my face! I'll walk down the lane…with a happy refrain…Just singin', singin' in the rain…" Big Boss sang, Fox moved his sword close to his right eye as Solid accepted it. The tip was only an inch away from his eye, Fox pulled the blade back and lunged for a stab but Big Boss held his arm,

"Thank you, Gray Fox but he's not ready yet, he has to be baptized first." Big Boss told him, Fox nodded and sheathed his sword. Big Boss then stood in front of him, punched him in the face then three times in the ribs and finally grabbed him by the head.

"Son…you have a way to fall…" Big Boss said to him before removing his codec earpiece. Big Boss dragged him to the bridge and tossed him over, watching him fall into the river below,

"Down goes the soldier while the warrior rises…" Big Boss mumbled as he began to walk away with his right hand man, his men and their hostages who were praying Solid Snake survived.
